Michelle Melles (she/her) is a seasoned director, writer and producer with a background in documentary and nonfiction media and magazine journalism. She has worked for some of the top broadcasters and television shows in Canada. A fierce believer that the personal is in dialogue with the political, she helped to create, launch, and produce the internationally-syndicated docu-series SexTV (1999-2008). This ground-breaking, Gemini-award winning (Canadian Screen Award) television series explored issues surrounding sexuality and gender around the world in a thought-provoking and cutting-edge way. She produced numerous documentaries for the show's ten season run, focusing on strong and complicated female characters and the complexity of sexual and gender expression in the modern world. In 2018, she founded the boutique production company Parallel Vision Pictures seeking to tell multidimensional and engaging stories that challenge preconceived ideas and offer unique ways of perceiving the world. She holds a MFA in Documentary Media from X-Ryerson University (graduating summa cum laude and winning the Gold Medal - the University's highest academic achievement). "Drunk on Too Much Life" is her first feature documentary film released in 2021.
