Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes’s prison sentence has been reduced by two years while she is currently serving her sentence for fraud.
Her updated release date is December 29, 2032. She was originally sentenced to 11 years and three months in jail in the Texas prison.
No reason was cited as to why her sentence was reduced, but possible reasons include good behavior, credits earned in programs and activities or completion of programs on substance abuse.
Holmes was found guilty of four counts of wire fraud when she deceived patients and doctors into using her company Theranos, which is now defunct, for blood tests, even though she was aware that the company did not produce accurate results. In addition to this, she was accused of defrauding more than $700 million from her investors with the claims she had made up.

Elizabeth Holmes will be spending a slightly shorter period of time behind bars. The Theranos founder’s inmate information on the Federal Bureau of Prisons website was updated to reflect a scheduled release date of Dec. 29, 2032 — shortening her sentence from 11 years and three months by two years, Rolling Stone has confirmed.
A Bop spokesperson told NBC News that no further information could be shared about said decision, but that good conduct time can be earned by incarcerated individuals and have that “projected in their projected release date.”

Elizabeth Holmes, the founder and CEO of failed at-home blood-testing startup Theranos, reported to a Texas prison on May 30 to begin her 11-year, three-month sentence, per The New York Times. Holmes received her prison sentence along with an additional three-year period of supervised release in November 2022, NBC News reported. According to the outlet, Holmes told the court, "I regret my failings with every cell of my body," before receiving her sentence.
Amid her infamous fraud trial, Holmes became the subject of several onscreen projects, including HBO's 2019 documentary "The Inventor" and Hulu's 2022 miniseries starring Amanda Seyfried, "The Dropout." With Theranos's technology, Holmes promised to rapidly conduct hundreds of medical tests with small amounts of blood. These claims, however, turned out to be false, even though Theranos's tests were being rolled out in drugstores across the country for the general public. Unlike...

Elizabeth Holmes is weighing in on the hoarse, baritone voice and unique persona she’s become so famous for in media portrayals and the public consciousness.
In an in-depth new profile of the embattled tech entrepreneur published by the New York Times on Sunday, Holmes addressed the public persona she’s become famous for — including her black turtleneck sweaters, bright red lipstick and husky, throaty idiosyncratic voice.
According to Holmes, the very things she’s now famous for were actually all an affectation she was putting on in an effort to be taken more seriously when looking for startup capital to fund her now-infamous tech company, Theranos.
Because of this — and her effort to cast off the shackles of her past before putting on actual shackles in her impending prison sentence — Holmes says that she’s not really bothered by several high-profile recent portrayals of her in the media.

No one in this world does not know about the terrorist attack that struck Boston on the day of the Boston City Marathon in the year 2013. A terrorist attack happened on American soil for the first time since 2001. Lives were lost, and many would remember the extensive manhunt that took place to catch the perpetrators. All of this remains like a vivid memory in the minds of the people. We only know what was projected to us through various television news channels, but many are not aware of the people involved in the investigation team that cracked the case within a few days of the attack. What went on behind the scenes of the crime, and how did they manage to get hold of the people who were behind the attacks?
Directed by Floyd Russ, “American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing” begins with footage of the marathon that took place in 2013 on Patriot’s Day.

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes tried to leave the country after she was found guilty of fraud last year, according to prosecutors in her case.
In a new court filing obtained by Rolling Stone, prosecutors allege that they learned on Jan. 23, several weeks after she was convicted, that the scammer “booked an international flight to Mexico… without a scheduled return trip.”
“Only after the government raised this unauthorized flight with defense counsel was the trip canceled,” read the filing. “The government anticipates Defendant will note in reply that she did not...

Despite her best efforts, Elizabeth Holmes will spend the next decade-plus behind bars. On Friday, a judge sentenced the Theranos founder to 11 years and 3 months in prison, plus three years of supervised release. Judge Edward J. Davila of California’s Northern District said he believed it was Holmes’ hubris and intoxication with fame that led her to defraud investors of more than 100 million.
The founder of the failed blood testing start-up Theranos promised to revolutionize healthcare, but a jury found she lied to investors about the company’s capabilities in pursuit of money and fame.

Spoiler Alert: This piece contains spoilers for “Lizzy,” the finale of “The Dropout,” which premiered April 7 Hulu.
When Elizabeth Meriwether was first planning “The Dropout” — her Hulu adaptation of the popular ABC News podcast of the same name, which chronicled the spectacular rise and precipitous fall of Theranos founder, Elizabeth Holmes — she had an idea about where she wanted the story to end: Burning Man. “It seemed like an interesting place for a kind of quote-unquote rebirth, you know?” Meriwether said.
She could picture Elizabeth, played by Amanda Seyfried, along with her mysterious new boyfriend Billy Evans, as Burners frolicking in the desert without a care in the world. After all, in August 2018, images of the couple at the annual late-summer festival had emerged on social media: In a viral photograph, Holmes can be seen in a T-shirt and fur-collared jacket, wearing hot pink sunglasses and a blissed-out grin. The Dropout has taken viewers on quite a journey as it follows Elizabeth Holmes‘ story from the perspective of Amanda Seyfried‘s portrayal. In the show’s most recent installment, “Heroes,” the Theranos founder’s house of cards began to crumble as the Wall Street Journal began airing her dirty laundry of coverups and more behind the scenes at the company. And with only one episode remaining, there’s only one place to go from here and it’s down. “Yeah. I mean, it’s the downfall,” showrunner Liz Meriwether teases of the episode. As for what viewers can anticipate from the installment, Meriwether adds, “it’s the end of her relationship with Sunny (Naveen Andrews), Billy Evans — who’s her new partner and the father of her child — is in it.” (Credit: Hulu) Not much else can be said, as Meriwether keeps some shreds of mystery for viewers, but...

Elizabeth Holmes's life from her teen years to the rise and fall of her blood-test company, Theranos, is the subject of Hulu's "The Dropout," starring Amanda Seyfried. The show also highlights her complicated 12-year relationship with Sunny Balwani, Theranos's chief operating officer from 2009 to 2016. After Holmes and Balwani split, she would go on to meet her now-husband, Billy Evans.
Holmes met Evans, hotel heir of Evans Hotel Group, at a party in 2017, according to the New York Post. The pair secretly married in 2019, Vanity Fair reports, amid her pending fraud trial for the claim that Theranos's technology could run hundreds of medical tests on one patient using small amounts of blood. The claims, however, were proven to be false. Holmes and Evans welcomed their first child in August 2021, which likely delayed her trial amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2018, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Holmes with defrauding Theranos investors.

Elizabeth Holmes may still be facing 20 years in prison, but the one-time Silicon Valley darling has a new man by her side.
Inside Edition recently spotted the disgraced Theranos CEO smiling while out and about in San Francisco with fiancé Billy Evans and her dog Balto.
In video obtained by the outlet, Holmes, 35, had traded in her signature black turtleneck in favor of a plain white T-shirt and a pair of black yoga pants. Meanwhile Evans wore a shirt emblazoned with the words “Take a walk on the wild side.”
The couple was also filmed holding hands while walking the dog on a separate occasion.

Following a pair of notable Fyre Festival docs, the latest millennials-meet-true-crime documentary is HBO's The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley, which revolves around the failed blood-testing startup Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes. Building upon the book published last year by Wall Street Journal reporter John Carreyrou, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, the documentary (which premieres March 18) will tell the story of the brilliant Stanford dropout who promised to revolutionize the medical industry with a machine that would make blood testing much faster and easier and who received billions of dollars through fundraising efforts - which would have been great if the technology actually existed.
When Holmes first appeared on the scene in 2004 with her mission of performing blood tests using only small quantities of blood, she and her new company, Theranos (a name created by combining "therapy" and "diagnosis"), received an impressive amount of interest.

Top Dog is a feisty crime drama written by Green Street writer Dougie Brimson, the film charts the fall of reformed bad boy Billy Evans (Leo Gregory), who leads a strong cast including Dannielle Brent and Lorraine Stanley.
The film is the second feature from director Martin Kemp, who takes care to ensure that his film has heart, as well as a good old-fashioned fight. We sat with the director himself, alongside Leo Gregory, to discuss their work on the production.
Top Dog is in cinemas from Friday 23rd May and out to own on Blu-ray and DVD on Monday 26th May through Universal Pictures. Read our review here.

Crime dramas, crime thrillers, gangster films. They often get a bad rap – and it’s not hard to see why when there’s a constant stream of poorly made, low budget films being spurned out with the same boring plot where someone shoots someone because he ‘mugged off’ wotshisname / stole the drugs / snitched on so-and-so. So it’s something of a relief when something comes along that’s been made with a little more effort, which is where Martin Kemp’s Top Dog comes into play.
Top Dog was brought to life by Green Street writer Dougie Brimson and lead actor Leo Gregory, who plays bad-boy-turned-good Billy Evans. Evans makes the fatal faux pas of trying to protect his family from a local gang who are charging them protection money – so far, so ordinary.
