Horror at its best gets under your skin and stays with you for some time, making you think over what you’ve seen. Some horror though just wants to be fun and provide some blood-soaked entertainment. Blood Vessel is one of the fun ones, for those with a taste for vampires. When a life raft adrift in the North Atlantic find an abandoned German minesweeper, the people on the raft believe they are saved. It’s not long though before the seemingly abandoned boat reveals it’s blood soaked secrets.
In terms of storyline don’t expect any brilliant twists or meaningful revelations with Blood Vessel, that isn’t what this movie is.

Director: Justin Dix Writers: Justin Dix, Jordan Prosser. Blood Vessel is a film from writer and director Justin Dix. He has worked on a few horror projects, including: Crawlspace (2012) and the upcoming Grave (2020). Falling into the Ghost Ship horror sub-genre, Dix creates some great visuals on a World War II vessel. All of the settings, costumes and props look realistic as they are taken from an actual, restored WWII vessel. But, there is a bit of a major tone and pacing shift - near the middle of the film, which might be jarring for some. Ending with a great finale, Blood Vessel will draw most horror enthusiasts into a decent vampire tale. The plot begins with the destruction of a hospital ship. Allies, from around the world, team-up to survive in the North Atlantic. Jane (Alyssa Sutherland) acts as a nurse, while Jackson (Christopher Kirby) is a former ship mechanic and sailor.

Slamdance has awarded its grand prize for screenwriting to Tamra Teig and Michael Lipoma for their feature screenplay “The Fall.”
The festival announced a dozen prizes Thursday night during a ceremony hosted by Writers Guild of America West across feature film, horror/thriller, TV pilot and short film categories. Slamdance awarded more than $16,000 to winners across all categories.
“The Fall” is a historical drama set in East Berlin in 1989, where a single mother is forced to become a spy to save her son after he’s framed for murder. Her act of revenge, woven into historic events, leads to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
“With over 4,200 submissions this year, our judges were challenged by a wealth of exciting new writers to choose from,” said Slamdance president Peter Baxter. “Many plugged into the passion and concern around socially conscious themes our world is currently dealing with in raw, fun and unique ways.

The 13th annual Melbourne Underground Film Festival, held back on Aug. 24 to Sept. 1, shined an especially bright spotlight on New Irish Low Budget Cinema, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the fest gave its top awards to a film from the land of Éire.
Terry McMahon’s crime thriller Charlie Casanova won for Best Film and Best Director, and star Emmet Scanlon tied for Best Actor with Shiver‘s John Jarrat.
Despite all the love given to Ireland, this year’s Muff didn’t ignore its home countrymen, either. Local filmmaker Chris Sun’s latest, Daddy’s Little Girl, also took home multiple awards, including Best SFX, Best Actress for Allira Jacques and tied for the Special Jury Prize with Donna McRae’s Johnny Ghost.
Also, as usual, Muff gave out a wide variety of awards to multiple films. Some of the other winners include Daryl Stoneage...

It sounds too good to be true: Filipino theater troupe Sipat Lawin Ensemble have teamed up with Australian playwrights David Finnigan, Jordan Prosser, Sam Burns-Warr, and Georgie McAuley to create a live theater version of Battle Royale to be performed in outdoor venues around the country.Titled Battalia Royale, the production has been so popular that people had to be turned away from the debut performances at Manila's Cultural Center of the Philippines. Upcoming performances will be held at an abandoned high school in Quezon City.As crazy as all of this sounds the best part of it is the crowd response. The event is designed to be as interactive as possible and you can see from the image above that the audience is completely surrounding...
