Based on Kommisar X, a popular series of crime novels from Germany, 1965’s Kiss Kiss… Kill Kill is the first of seven lightly satirical adventures starring a suave pair of crime-busting spies played by Tony Kendall and Brad Harris. Kiss Kiss is notable for its proto-Our Man Flint plot featuring a criminal mastermind, his private island and the bevy of hypnotized playmates who guard it. A brassy, Shirley Bassey-esque theme song, “I Love You Joe Walker”, kicks off the proceedings in style.

Just when we thought Nicki and Mariah were finally starting to get along, the two divas proved there’s only room for one Queen Bee on this show! Read on for all the juicy Nicki/Mariah drama — and, oh yeah, did I mention there were contestants?
We all know Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj aren’t ones to shy away from confrontation, but we never thought it would go this far! Aside from the typical battling egos, raised voices and fabulously big hair, there were some major threats made on the Jan. 23 episode. Hey Nicki and Mariah, why can’t we all just get along?
They say that third time is the charm, but after night three of American Idol Season 12 auditions, I’m not so sure! The Idol judges headed to the South and had high hopes for Charlotte, N.C. Yes, there were some major hits, but there...

Chicago – Given the wacky nature of Owen Wilson, Jack Black, and Steve Martin in their family comedies and the tendency of all three talented actors to over-act, people will probably be surprised at how generally-subdued their collaboration on “The Big Year” ended up. In fact, while the movie is genial and good-natured, it’s also surprisingly dull. The characters never resonate beyond their descriptions - rookie, veteran, and the jerk in between. So, while the filmmakers deserve credit for not injecting the proceedings with gross-out humor, they needed to inject it with something to bring it to life.
Rating: 2.0/5.0
A vast majority of “The Big Year” is made up of the three protagonists denying they’re actually “doing a big year.” It creates a stunning lack of actual tension. It’s not just that the title refers to something somewhat intangible for most people — seeing more birds than anyone else in a single year…...

Getting chuffed over a domestic duck? Any self-respecting birdwatching pedant should be horrified by The Big Year
A lot of people think of birdwatching – or "birding", as we usually refer to it – as geeky. I prefer to think of it as an interesting obsession. It can certainly take over your life, as it does for the three main characters in this film: they devote an entire year of their lives – a "big year" – to travelling the length and breadth of North America, competing to spot the greatest number of bird species.
I've read the book on which the film is based: The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession by Mark Obmascik. It's very well-written, with great characterisation; you especially feel for Brad Harris, the character played in the film by Jack Black, who's a working-class guy with less money than the others to spend pursuing his passion.

For those of us who are not predisposed to spend hours of our time spying on birds in a forest, birding aficionados can seem like an awfully strange lot. That’s not to suggest that their hobby isn’t understandable. After all, the satisfaction in finding a rare bird seems similar to the sense of accomplishment one feels upon finishing a difficult puzzle, or upon finally locating Waldo. Still, anyone who’s ever accompanied a birder on his mission knows that once the object of prey is spotted there will be a long, frenzied staring and photographic session, with any slight movement met with enthusiastic “oohs” and “aahs.” If you’re not of the niche birder community, this is an insufferable experience. So it’s hard to fathom why director David Frankel and screenwriter Howard Franklin imagined anyone would be especially entertained by a movie about it. Yet, somehow someone though the world needed a movie about...

Does this comedy about bird watching take flight, or is it a lame duck? Here's Ron's review of The Big Year, starring Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson...
Do you know anything about birding? You see, birding is the term used by people who actually engage in bird watching, but they call it birding because I guess the watching makes it too voyeuristic. There’s a dedicated community of birders, but the most hardcore of them undertake something called a 'big year.'
Basically, you spend a year (and a fortune) to travel around the country and see as many birds as you possibly can in 365 days. Kenny Bostick (Owen Wilson) is the top birder in the world, and he’s got the record to beat of 732 birds in a year.
However, he’s got competition. Brad Harris (Jack Black) is a divorced slacker whose only love (and only...
