In a split ruling today, a state appeals court panel reinstated a grant of parole for former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten, overturning an earlier decision by Gov. Gavin Newsom to block her release.
Tuesday’s decision does not automatically mean Van Houten will be released. The state could still appeal the ruling to the California Supreme Court. Neither the governor’s office nor the state Attorney General’s Office immediately returned a message seeking comment.
Van Houten, now 73, is serving a potential life prison sentence for taking part in the killings of Leno and Rosemary Labianca in their Los Feliz home more than 50 years ago.
The Manson killings shook Los Angeles and defined a generation. The story of the Manson family has inspired countless shows and films, including, most recently, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Victoria Pedretti played a character called “Lulu” in the film,...

T.V. Carpio, the actress who has appeared in shows such as Big Sky and The Client List, has joined the NBC medical drama Chicago Med in a recurring role. As reported by Deadline, Carpio will portray Dr. Grace Song, a new doctor hired by Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz), and is set to shake things up when the show returns in 2023. The casting comes following several cast departures, including Brian Tee, Asjha Cooper, Sarah Rafferty, Kristen Hager, and Guy Lockard. Carpio’s Dr. Song is likely to be one of many changes for the popular medical series. This season’s fall finale saw Roiz’s Jack purchase a controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group, which suggests he will be setting up his own team as he rebuilds the hospital in his image. Chicago Med, created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, launched in 2015 and premiered its eighth season on September 21, 2022. It...

Exclusive: T.V. Carpio (Big Sky) has joined the cast of NBC’s Chicago Med in a recurring role, Deadline hears. She will portray Dr. Grace Song, a new doctor hired by Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) who will shake things up when the show returns in the spring.
Grace’s hiring comes as no surprise following the news that Jack bought controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group in the fall finale—building up his own team is par for the course. If Sharon Goodwin’s (S. Epatha Merkerson) reaction to the news of Jack’s come-up is any indication of what’s to come, however, it’s more than likely the addition of Grace won’t be the only change ahead for the hospital.

And so is the life of emergency service workers—unpredictable and often complicated and tough. But as the seasons unfold, what’s always certain is that Gaffney Chicago Medical Center knows how to always bring on the drama.
The episode picks up moments later from the Season 7 finale that saw Will Halstead’s (Nick Gehlfuss) apartment building ablaze endangering him, Dylan Scott (Guy Lockard), Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram), and Dylan’s love interest Milena/Jo (Riley Voelkel), among others.

Welcome to the latest installment in our regular Movies You May Have Missed series here on Nerdly, in which I highlight some of, what I think, are the best movies that have flown under the radar of many or have been “forgotten” in the intervening years since its release. This time round it’s At Your Service, aka Servitude, a 2011 Canadian comedy about the restaurant industry.
Stars: Joe Dinicol, Rachel Skarsten, John Bregar, Enrico Colantoni, David Foley, Margot Kidder, Lauren Collins, Aaron Ashmore, Kristen Hager, Linda Kash | Written by Michael Sparaga | Directed by Warren P Sonoda
If there’s two things I’m a fan of it’s Ryan Reynolds’ movies and Canada. Put those two together and you get At Your Service, the story of a group of servers and staff at a franchise chain restaurant (much like Ryan Reynolds’ Waiting) who have one last wild night at their...

Dr. Hannah Asher will officially be back within the hallways of Chicago Med in this Wednesday’s episode (NBC, 8/7c), and her reunion with ex-boyfriend Dr. Will Halstead will be a challenging one for both parties.
As viewers will recall, Hannah left the Windy City to enter rehab in the Season 6 premiere. When Hannah invited Will to join her in Los Angeles, he argued that he couldn’t be the reason she stayed sober, so the couple split up. But now that Hannah is back as the emergency department’s Ob-gyn specialist (and her portrayer Jessy Schram is a series...

Chicago Med is saying goodbye to a fan favorite.
Kristen Hager is exiting the NBC after just half a season as a series regular.
Hager starred as Dr. Stevie Hammer, and her storyline seemingly concluded on Chicago Med Season 7 Episode 14.
If you watch Chicago Med online, you know Steve chose to move back to Michigan to save her marriage with her estranged husband.
The series had heavily teased a pairing for Stevie and Will (Nick Gehlfuss), but it appears the door is not closing on a potential pairing down the line.
“We all really liked Kristen and would welcome her character coming back in the future,” show EPs Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider explained to Deadline in a joint statement.
It's certainly a shocker to add someone as a series regular, only to wrap up their storyline halfway through, but maybe there were some changes behind-the-scenes.

Dr. Stevie Hammer is ending her residency at the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as Kristen Hager has exited Chicago Med after just half a season. Hager joined the NBC medical drama as a series regular for the currently airing seventh season, starring as physician Stevie Hammer. Her character teased a potential romantic interest in Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) during her time on the show. She last appeared in Episode 14 back in early March, where Stevie reconciled with her bipolar mother and then chose to move back to Michigan to give her marriage with her estranged husband a second shot. Despite Hager’s departure, the show’s executive producers, Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider, are not closing the door on a potential return down the line. “We all really liked Kristen and would welcome her character coming back in the future,” Frolov and Schneider told Deadline in a joint statement.

Brian Tee fans, the wait is nearly over. The “Chicago Med” cast member, whose Ethan Choi been absent for most of the seventh season, will return during Episode 18, set to air on Wednesday, April 13.
He will also be in the rest of the season, showrunners Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider said during NBC’s recent “One Chicago Day.”
“Ethan has gone through a lot of changes in his life with the shooting,” Schnieder hinted. Tee has appeared in only three episodes during the season, as he has been filming Amazon Prime Video’s “The Expats” opposite Nicole Kidman.

Exclusive: NBC’s Chicago Med is leaning into Dr. Dean Archer’s controversial promotion to interim chief of the Ed by upping Steven Weber to series regular. The news comes after the explosive Season 6 finale in May that saw power-hungry Dean continue to dangerously bend the rules to suit his agenda.
Additionally, two new doctors are joining Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as Guy Lockard and Kristen Hager have landed series regular roles on the Dick Wolf-produced procedural, which returns for its seventh season this fall. The new cast additions follow the shocking departures of Yaya DaCosta and Torrey DeVitto at the end of last season.
Lockard will portray Dr. Dylan Scott, who left a career as a Chicago police officer to become a doctor. Whether the doctor has any connections to characters in Chicago P.D. is as yet unknown.
Hager plays Dr. Stevie Hammer, a brilliant and scrappy emergency room attending physician.

Retired war veteran Jim Reed (Berenger) heads out on a hunting trip in the Allagash backcountry of Maine but when an accident finds him face-to-face with the corpse of a dead woman and a duffle bag packed with stolen money he soon finds himself in a web of deceit and murder. The debut feature for cinematographer John Barr, Blood and Money is clearly modelled after the films of the Coen Brothers but without any of the style or panache of that duos film – Barr seemingly thinking the noir-ish characters and snowy setting are what mark out the Coen’s work.

From its generic title to an ending you can see coming from outer space, Blood and Money follows a path rutted with enough clichés to cover the three million acres of Maine forest land where the film is set. Writer-director John Barr lucked out in getting Tom Berenger, a consummate pro and Platoon Oscar nominee, to play Jim Reed, a Vietnam-era marine and experienced deer hunter. He’s determined to “bag a buck” on this trip to a New England area so remote and lacking in paved roads that manned...

"Give us the money back! We know everything about you." Of course they do. They're criminals! Screen Media Films has debuted an official trailer for backcountry crime thriller Blood and Money, marking the feature directorial debut of cinematographer John Barr. Arriving on VOD in May, without any film festival premieres before. Tom Berenger stars as a retired veteran out hunting in Northern Maine who stumbles across a dead woman and a large sum of money. He soon finds himself in a web of deceit and murder. As always. The cast also includes Kristen Hager, Mark Siversten, and Paul Ben Victor. This looks like a mix between a snowy survival thriller and a crime mystery, but still seems rather derivative. Tread carefully. As they hunt one another over the course of a few days, the stark and frigid landscape frames a test of will and survival where the hunter becomes the hunted.
