“National Treasure: Edge of History” has been canceled at Disney+ after one season, Variety has confirmed.
Based on the “National Treasure” film franchise, Disney’s TV adaptation followed treasure hunter Jess Venezuela. Lisette Olivera, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker, and Lyndon Smith were among the cast.
In the season one finale, which aired in February, co-creators Marianne and Cormac Wibberley (who also wrote the first two films) closed the first installment unveiling a “National Treasure” twist. It's been over a decade since Nicolas Cage last graced screens as "National Treasure"'s Declaration of Independence-stealing, president-kidnapping Benjamin Franklin Gates, but more thrill-seeking adventures are coming our way - this time, in the form of a new TV series! On Sept. 10, Disney+ unveiled the first full-length trailer for "National Treasure: Edge of History," and the show looks action-packed - plus, it includes plenty of nods to the original franchise.
While Cage isn't expected to appear in the series, the presence of his character, Ben Gates, is felt thanks to a fun Easter egg. In one scene from the trailer, a character discovers Benjamin Franklin's glasses - the same glasses Ben used in the 2004 "National Treasure." Additionally, the series will see Justin Bartha reprising the role of Riley.

Disney+’s “National Treasure” spinoff series introduced its newest treasure hunter in a teaser released at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, and revealed that another familiar face would be returning.
Though the teaser is quick, there’s plenty to be seen. It opens in an office, where our new hero has a whole board set up with maps and information, presumably related to the next treasure that’s out in the world. Wearing a very Indiana Jones-esque hat and jacket, she takes off her hat to reveal long hair and looks straight into camera.
And so we meet Jess, the series’ heroine played by Lisette Olivera. According to the official “National Treasure: Edge of History” synopsis, she’s “a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.”

Alexis will play Jess, who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her past and save a lost Pan-American treasure. Jess is described as brilliant, resourceful and a lover of a good mystery with a natural aptitude for solving puzzles. DC Comics' "Secret Six" (1968) is being developed as a pilot for a TV series at CBS, with showrunner Bill Lawrence ("Scrubs") working with a script by Rick Muirragui ("Suits"):
"...originally created as a team of mercenary crime-fighters by writer E. Nelson Bridwell and illustrator Frank Springer, another version of the team appeared in "Villains United" #1 (July 2005).
"Led by 'Lex Luthor', aka the mysterious 'Mockingbird', this version of the Secret Six consists of villainous characters who accept missions of dubious moral quality, including DC Comics characters 'Catman', 'Deadshot' and 'Cheshire', plus newly created 'Rag Doll' and 'Scandal Savage'.

The DC Comics comic book property Secret Six is being developed into a drama series by CBS. This is a comic that I’m not really familiar with, but judging from the description, it sounds like it will be an intriguing show.
Secret Six follows “six morally ambiguous strangers, each with their own unique specialties and secret pasts. They are brought together by an enigmatic figure who blackmails them into working as a team to expose the corruption of the corporate and political elite.”
The Secret Six has had a rotating roster of members over the years that includes Bane, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Mad Hatter, Penguin, Deadshot, Cheshire, Scandal Savage, Fiddler, Catman and more. I imagine the series will focus more on the lesser known characters.
The series seems like it will be very similar to Suicide Squad as it centers on a team of misfit rogues who are forced to do good.

After not realizing what they had in Supergirl by letting it go after only one season, it looks like CBS is willing to take another shot at this whole DC thing by adapting the cult favorite Secret Six for television.
You see, the project has received a pilot production commitment, as Rick Muirragui (Suits) will write and executive produce, with Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold executive producing via Doozer Productions. As good as Greg Berlanti has proven to be with comic book-based TV shows, I’m glad to see his name not being attached, lest he be spread too thin.
As for the plot itself, Variety says that the series “follows six morally ambiguous strangers, each with their own unique specialties and secret pasts. We learned to day from Variety that CBS is developing a TV series based on the DC comics series, The Secret Six.
The series has received a pilot production commitment from the network and is based on a comic book which began its run in May 1968. The comic details the adventures of a covert strike team of 6 operatives who take orders from a mysterious figure known as Mockingbird, whom the team members believe is one of the other 5.
The current incarnation of the group and most popular has a group of Villains, pretty much in the vein of Suicide Squad. This team has gone thru numerous members including Bane, Deadshot, Cheshire, Mad Hatter, Catman, and Harley Quinn to name just a few. The Mockingbird for this villainous version of the team is eventually revealed to be Lex Luthor. Unfortunately there is no word on who will be on the roster for the show.

The good news? DC's brilliant Secret Six is getting made into a TV series. The bad news? It's gonna be on CBS.
There's a Secret Six TV series in the works. Rick Muirragui (Suits) is writing a pilot for the Secret Six TV show, and if it goes forward, it will air on CBS.
The synopsis for the shows (via Variety) says it's about "six morally ambiguous strangers, each with their own unique specialties and secret pasts, who are brought together by an enigmatic figure who blackmails them into working as a team to expose the corruption of the corporate and political elite."
The Six are sent on their missions by the mysterious "Mockingbird." Kind of like Charlie from Charlie's Angels. The catch is that Mockingbird is probably a member of the team, and nobody knows who it might be.

CBS has begun development on a series based on the DC Comics super-team “Secret Six.”
The project, which has a pilot production commitment at the network, centers on six morally ambiguous strangers, each with their own unique specialties and secret pasts, are brought together by an enigmatic figure who blackmails them into working as a team to expose the corruption of the corporate and political elite.
Similar to DC’s “Suicide Squad,” Secret Six has had multiple incarnations in DC Comics over the years. The original team, created by writer E. Nelson Bridwell and artist Frank Springer in 1969, featured lesser-known characters like August Durant, Crimson Dawn and King Savage. The concept was rebooted in 1988 by writer Martin Pasko and artist Dan Spiegle featuring new and original members. Writer Gail Simone created a third version in 2005 made up of DC Comics villains like Deadshot and Lex Luthor.

As soon as we thought we could predict the outcome of the Oscars, here comes another surprise! This one's brought to you by the Writers Guild of America. Picked for Best Original Screenplay was Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The director, famously dissed for not getting a Best Director Oscar nomination, may just win the Best Original Screenplay come Oscar night. Oscar front-runner, "The King's Speech" was not nominated because it didn't quality under union rules which prompted Nolan to say during his WGA acceptance award that he looked forward to a time when he could accept the award "without qualification."
That could be the beginning of a great script Mr. Nolan, go write it :happy
For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.
