Fremantle and Kansai TV have launched new entertainment format “Quiz Pong” following a co-development deal initially revealed at MIPCOM 2022. The format was launched in Japan last month by Kansai TV and Fremantle will handle the production and global distribution.
“Quiz Pong” is a fast-paced gameshow where teams compete against each other in a fun tournament testing their mental, physical, and strategy skills. The teams go head-to-head by throwing balls into moving baskets, on a supersized set and answering general knowledge questions to score points. The harder the basket is to reach the more difficult the question inside the basket will be for their opponent. After battling through two rounds, the winning teams compete in the grand finale for a prize.
Miho Okada, executive managing director at Kansai TV, said: “Thanks to the innovative idea from our producers and creative support from Fremantle, ‘Quiz Pong’ developed into a fun, exciting,...

See-Saw Films producer Emile Sherman says it’s “a huge thrill” for him to be working with Jane Campion on her first TV production since 1990’s An Angel at My Table – the Australia/New Zealand co-production Top of the Lake.
“Essentially, I was approached by Jane. We’d met and got on really well, and she thought that this could be a good project for us to work on together. I couldn’t believe that she actually offered me the job,” Sherman told Encore.
Sherman expects Top of the Lake to be in production in the second half of 2011, shooting in and around Queenstown, New Zealand.
The six-part series has been commissioned by BBC2 and although it already has a broadcaster in Australia and New Zealand, Sherman chose not to disclose which networks would show Top of the Lake in these territories.

Superannuation fund Media Super and Fulcrum Media Finance have partnered in a $20m revolving loan fund to cash flow the Producer Offset.
“The new film fund should be a shot in the arm for the industry as well as providing our members with a sound financial return,” said Gerard Noonan, chairman of Media Super.
Noonan emphasised the fact that the Offset is not linked to, or reliant upon, the financial success of the film.
“It is simply a debt facility principally secured by the payment of the Producer Offset tax rebate,” he said.
Media Super is the superannuation fund for print, media, entertainment and arts professionals, and Noonan added that this will be the first time that the fund engages in an initiative that directly benefits some of its members, including producers. It has more than 120,000 members and $2.5 billion in assets.
