Rosemary's Baby print by Jonathan Burton. For sale here.50th Anniversary Three-Part Mini-Series
Occasionally we'll take a movie and baton pass it around the team and really dive in.
Rosemary's Baby (1968) is 50 years old now but it feels both ancient and fresh. It's always alive when you watch it. Having seeped into the very DNA of both the movies and our nightmares, it deserves a deep dive. In Part One by Seán McGovern we watched as Rosemary (Mia Farrow) and Guy Woodhouse (John Cassavettes) moved into a strange new apartment building, saw a neighbor mysteriously die, and become socially entangled with an intrusive neighbor couple Minnie and Roman Castavet (Ruth Gordon and Sydney Blackmer), who are both eccentrically endearing and very possibly sinister. 44 minutes into the film we can scratch out "very possibly" and just make that sinister. Full stop. We return to Rosemary just as we realize she's been...

Above: 1986 Japanese poster for She’s Gotta Have It (Spike Lee, USA, 1986).In the ten months since I last did a round-up of the most popular posters on Movie Poster of the Day, two things have happened. I’ve slacked off a bit: after running the site since November 2011 and posting one poster every single day for years, in the past year I’ve let my self-appointed task slide a little and have been posting more sporadically. And at the same time it seems that Tumblr is starting to atrophy. At its height my site had over 300,000 followers—it still does officially, but I would guess that a large percentage of those people are no longer still on Tumblr or rarely check their feed. I’m often asked why I don’t up sticks and move to Instagram instead, but while I love Instagram for personal stuff, Tumblr is still...

Mondo has released several new pieces of poster art for their Universal Monster tribute gallery. It features new art depicting The Mummy, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, and Dracula.
The Mondo Gallery has been hosting Universal Studio's classic monsters this month from Jan. 19 - Jan. 27, and this art collection is pretty incredible. There's some beautiful work here. When I look at this art for these classic horror films, It makes me sad that Universal Pictures and their team of talent don't really know how to handle these amazing characters for their Dark Universe reboot films. This is their inspiration, and they haven't been able to capture the greatness of it yet.
Mitch Putnam, Mondo creative director, had this to say in a statement:
"Ever since our original Universal Studios’ Monsters show in 2012, we always knew we'd love to...

Like some of the best illustrations that graced the covers of fantasy novels and heavy metal albums in the ’70s and ’80s, Arik Roper's artwork is a portal to another world brimming with adventure and endless possibilities. Ahead of his appearance as a featured artist at MondoCon 2016 this weekend in Austin, TX, we caught up with Roper for a special "Meet the Artist" Q&A feature, and we also have a look at some of the eye-popping artwork he'll be bringing to this year's MondoCon.
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Arik. What sparked your initial interest in being an artist?
Arik Roper: It was a natural path for me, being an artist. Both my parents were artists. I was surrounded by it and I instinctively was drawn toward it, and received a lot of encouragement.
Your art often transports people deep into the realms of fantasy and horror.

But as artist Jonathan Burton proves, you can’t go wrong with paying tribute to the films of Alfred Hitchcock. Mad Duck Posters is releasing a few Vertigo prints […]

"Come with me, murderess, come with me." Over a quarter of a century before Clue dazzled audiences with its mansion-based murder mystery, William Castle's House on Haunted Hill brought together its own group of strangers for a night of terror in which everything—including a body swinging from a noose—was not quite what it seemed. Bolstered by the legendary Vincent Price's memorable performance as the enigmatic millionaire Frederick Loren, House on Haunted Hill is still a must-watch movie around Halloween and will forever cause some horror fans to look at skeletons with a wary eye.
Perfectly capturing the spooky spirit of the film's stormy night setting is artist Jonathan Burton's new House on Haunted Hill movie poster for Mondo. Available in both color and black-and-white (with green title lettering) this new take on Castle's classic features three of the film's essentials—Price, the skeleton, and the...
