Exclusive: We can confirm that Neither Confirm Nor Deny has been acquired for North American distribution by Greenwich Entertainment. The company plans a theatrical release later this year for the documentary about a dramatic incident from the Cold War, which involved an attempt to capture an alluring prize on the ocean floor.
Philip Carter makes his directorial debut with the film, which premiered at Doc NYC last November.
“At the height of the Cold War, the CIA is tasked with an audacious covert mission: recovering a sunken Soviet nuclear submarine from the bottom of the ocean,” notes a description of the documentary. “The mission hangs in the balance as the agency and its activities are caught in a power play between the press and the White House. With firsthand accounts from the principal players, Neither Confirm Nor Deny is a timely look into America’s clandestine underbelly with a long history of questionable tactics.

Dave Collard has been hired to script the CIA thriller “Neither Confirm Nor Deny,” set up with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Films and New Sparta Films, Variety has learned.
The project originated last year when the producers acquired movie rights to the David H. Sharp book “The CIA’s Greatest Covert Operation: Inside the Daring Mission to Recover a Nuclear-Armed Soviet Sub.”
The book details the aftermath of the Soviet nuclear submarine K-129 sinking in the Pacific Ocean in 1968 in 16,000 feet of water. Despite a massive secret search, the Soviets never found their missing submarine – but the Americans located it as the CIA hatched Azorian, the code name for a six-year operation to bring up the sub and its secrets, using a cover story involving ocean mining fronted by the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes.
When their cover was blown by press coverage, the CIA’s response was “We can neither confirm nor deny.

A big hit at Horror Channel FrightFest, we chat to Danny Morgan about the upcoming horror, Double Date...
London-born actor/writer Danny Morgan (Off The Hook, Ideal, On The Road) had a very good reason for turning to the horror genre when it came to writing his first screenplay. “I thought that was a genre I could do something in, because there are so many crap horror films. I thought ‘well, it’s not going to stand out horribly if it’s completely terrible’. So I went into it with a good frame of mind!”
It’s a characteristically self-deprecating remark from Morgan who, along with director Benjamin Barfoot, can rest assured that Double Date is one of the funniest and most entertaining British horror comedies of recent years. Following screenings at Karlovy Vary and Edinburgh, it brought the house down at this year’s London’s Horror Channel FrightFest,...

Rob Brydon has squeezed into those budgie smugglers he has tucked at the back of his drawers to start filming on the upcoming British comedy Swimming with Men alongside a pretty decent cast which includes Charlotte Riley ad Daniel Mays.
The production which is underway today in pools across London, Hertfordshire and Essex, is said to be a heart-warming comedy about a man in the throes of a mid-life crisis who finds meaning in the most unlikely of places: an all-male, middle-aged, amateur synchronised swimming team.
At the heart of the story is Eric, a 40-something stuck in a rut. With his marriage in tatters and his life generally going to pieces, Eric finds unexpected refuge in the company of a motley crew of middle-aged, slightly saggy men, who meet up once a week at the local municipal pool literally and figuratively to tread water together.
