- Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland, Melvin Thomas Russell 2nd is an American actor/writer/humanitarian. He received his training from The American Musical Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles California where he received a Certificate in the Performing Arts. In 2004 Russell received his first television role on the critically acclaimed HBO series The Wire, where he played the role of Jamal, a lieutenant for the Marlo Stansfield drug organization. In 2005 Russell appeared in the stage play A Real Nigga Show, which he also was a co-writer for the project. In 2013 Russell received his first film credit on the project Jamesy Boy, directed by Trevor White and stars James Woods, Ving Rhames, and Mary Louise Parker. Ru.ssell plays a Property Clerk in the film. You have can catch Russell on the HBOMAX series We Own This City, where he plays a drug dealer by the name of Aaron Black Anderson, a key player who helps dismantle the disgraced GTTF unit within the BPD. The show is based off of real life events and exposes the corruption of a system in America that has been flawed since the beginning of time.
