The legendary Isle of Man Tt motorcycle race will be the subject of a film and docuseries from Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum’s production companies, Mediawan-owned Plan B Entertainment and Free Association.
The Isle of Man Tt is one of the most famous and deadly races for motorcyclists around the world. Taking place on a small island nation in the Irish Sea, the race traces its heritage back to the early 1900s when road racing was outlawed in England, and racers found refuge on the Isle of Man. A single lap of the course is made up of 37.7 miles across the island’s road systems as the bikes tackle country lanes and city streets at speeds up to 200 mph. Since 1903, there have been more than 150 deaths during the race or its practices, including five in 2022.

Although Channing Tatum is considered one of the best-looking actors in modern Hollywood, there’s more to him than just his pleasant appearance.
After he struggled to find a job in his twenties, Tatum eventually stumbled into the acting world by chance, leading to a fruitful and prolific career.

Adam Sandler was faced with a new challenge on the set of his upcoming Netflix film “Spaceman”: using wires to appear like an astronaut floating in space. At the film’s Berlin Film Festival press conference on Wednesday, Sandler cheekily reflected on the experience, saying the “wires hurt me.”
“The wires were tough because my body’s not the most flexible body. The wires hurt me, they dug into me. The stuntmen who would wire me up every day, I would say ‘that hurts’ and they didn’t believe me,” Sandler said as the room erupted in laughter. “But we did it as a team. [Director] Johan [Renck] would say, ‘You don’t look like you’re floating, what are you doing?’ And then I would say, ‘Well, what should we do?’ And then they’d wire Johan up and he’d be like, ‘More like this!'”

After xix months of solitude on a spaceship, floating alone with no one to talk to, Astronaut Jakub Prochazka (Adam Sandler) has a bizarre encounter with an extraterrestrial (voiced by Paul Dano) in the trailer for Netflix’s Spaceman. Or is the spider-like creature merely a figment of his imagination?
“I really wanted to have a performance from him that had nothing to do with the Adam Sandler we all know,” said director Johan Renck (Chernobyl) to Netflix’s Tudum. “I don’t think people understand how [although] he may come across as funny and sweet and all that, he’s very intelligent, really smart, profound.”
The cast of the sci-fi drama, based on Jaroslav Kalfař’s Spaceman of Bohemia, includes Carey Mulligan (Maestro), Kunal Nayyar (Suspicion), Lena Olin (Hunters), and Isabella Rossellini (Julia). A new trailer has been released for the upcoming existential sci-fi drama from the director of the popular HBO series Chernobyl. Spaceman sees Adam Sandler continuing to explore the more dramatic genre after his acclaimed performance in Uncut Gems and Hustle. In Spaceman, Sandler plays an isolated astronaut who is clamoring for his wife back on Earth. He encounters a mysterious creature, which is presented in the form of a giant spider, although emanates the calm voice of Paul Dano. Adam Sandler is alone (and possibly seeing things) in his latest feature for Netflix, the sci-fi tinged Spaceman.
The meditative trailer follows the story of astronaut Jakub (Sandler), who is in the midst of a six-month solo mission to the outer reaches of the solar system.
Loneliness starts to get to him, and he begins to understand his marriage back on Earth may not be waiting for him at home. Along the way, a creature he discovers in the ship helps him understand where things went awry. The creature, who looks like a giant spider, may or may not be all in his head.
Carey Mulligan stars as Lenka, wife to Sandlers character, while Paul Dano voices Hanuš, the spider-like creature. Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin, and Isabella Rossellini also star in the feature, based on Czech author Jaroslav Kalfař’s 2017 novel Spaceman of Bohemia.

Has there been a greater bait-and-switch in recent memory than "Magic Mike"? The trailers for director Steven Soderbergh's 2012 dramedy -- itself loosely based on star Channing Tatum's real-life experiences as an "exotic dancer" -- promised to deliver a whole lot of male stripper shenanigans for a fun Friday night of frivolity. The actual film, on the other hand, was a far more sobering look at not just the reality of what life is like as a professional stripper but also the economic hardships faced by working-class individuals like Tatum's Michael "Magic Mike" Lane in the wake of the 2007 financial crisis. In his defense, Soderbergh likened the film to a Robert Altman joint ahead of its release, so you can't exactly accuse him personally of trojan-horsing anyone.
The second "Magic Mike" film, "Magic Mike Xxl," hewed closer to what audiences expected from the first movie. Helmed by Soderbergh's longtime assistant director Gregory Jacobs,...

Exclusive: Warner Bros has won a week long auction for Calamity Hustle, the action comedy that will star Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum. Adam & Aaron Nee wrote the script, and they will direct. All the studios were in on this, but it came down to Amazon, Netflix and Warner Bros. Led by production chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, Warner Bros stepped up for the kind of star-driven movie that fueled the studio’s fortunes back in the day.
The spec is likened in tone to the mismatched buddy actioner like Lethal Weapon, and the hope is to launch a franchise. Reynolds will play a cop who is estranged from his low level criminal brother (Tatum). They grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, and went in the opposite direction. When bro is implicated as part of a diamond heist, the cop must hunt him down before those he ripped off.

Exclusive: After taking on a major recurring arc across multiple seasons of Taylor Sheridan‘s hit neo-Western drama series Yellowstone, actress Q’orianka Kilcher has signed with Silver Lining Entertainment for management.
Kilcher played Angela Blue Thunder, the business consultant hired by Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham) to fend off Market Equities’ threats to both the Dutton Ranch and Broken Rock Reservation, in the Paramount Network show returning later this year for the back half of its fifth and final season.
The actress broke out at 14 years old with her turn as Pocahontas in Terrence Malick’s The New World, which had her starring opposite Colin Farrell and Christian Bale, and brought her a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Young Actress. She’s more recently been seen co-starring opposite Channing Tatum in the road dramedy Dog, directed for MGM by Tatum and Reid Carolin, as well as Paramount’s adventure comedy...

Magic Mike’s Last Dance sees Channing Tatum and Steven Soderbergh back together to finish what they started 11 years ago. This time, however, most of the magic seems to have gone, as too has the entertainment.
After the Covid pandemic Mike (Channing Tatum) has fallen on hard times, his business has gone under and he now finds himself bartending a rich charity event. After the event, he meets Max (Salma Hayek), the hostess of said event, who needs a spark added to her life. That spark comes in the form of a dance, a dance Mike gives her that will finally give her a sense of purpose, a sense of life she hasn’t felt in years. That spark...

His name is Magic. Magic Mike. And this Valentine's Day, he'll be here to entertain you. Described by screenwriter Reid Carolin as "Pretty Woman" meets "All That Jazz," "Magic Mike's Last Dance" sees Channing Tatum's Mike return to his roots as a male entertainer by launching a stage show in London based on his experiences. Steven Soderbergh returned to direct the threequel after being inspired by the real "Magic Mike" stage show on London's West End.
The original "Magic Mike," released in 2012, was a surprisingly big box office hit on a relatively small budget, and "Magic Mike Xxl" was also a money-maker, albeit with smaller returns. That trend looks set to continue with "Magic Mike's Last Dance." Per Variety, the film has grossed 8.2 million across 1,500 domestic theaters in its opening weekend at the box office, the lowest debut of the franchise so far.

Has the magic gone out of Mike? No, not at all. Chicago – Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com appears on “The Morning Mess” with Scott Thompson on Wbgr-fm on February 9th, 2023, reviewing “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” the third of the male dancer films featuring Channing Tatum. In theaters on February 10th.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
Channing Tatum is back as Mike Lane, but he’s out of the male dancer profession, trying to make ends meet as a bartender in Miami after a bad business deal. While working a swanky benefit, he encounters rich socialite Maxandra Mendoza (Salma Hayek). After providing her with a Magic Mike dance, she hires him to revive a London theater that she got in her recent divorce. Maxandra wants a different kind of dance extravaganza to shake up London, and Magic Mike – with new cast of hunky male hoofers – is just the man to deliver.

The words “Magic Mike” may conjure up images of sweaty, sculpted, undulating men, dancing unthreateningly for hoards of screaming women, but there has always been a backdrop of brutal economic reality looming over the fantasy world.
The unlikely franchise has explored the escalating devaluation of physical laborers, the suffocating effects of the college industrial complex, predatory loan businesses, recession and even Covid-19, which has effectively destroyed poor Mike Lane’s furniture business in this latest film.
When we re-meet Channing Tatum’s gentle hunk in “ Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” in theatres Friday, he’s bartending at parties for the very rich in Miami. The gig could be worse, but though he doesn’t quite say it, the implication is that he’s even aged out of dancing now. He has to seriously think about it when his wealthy employer offers him 6,000 for a dance later that evening.

“No woman wants to be suffocated by testicles.” This pearl of wisdom comes from Salma Hayek Pinault who plays grand dame Maxandra in Magic Mike’s Last Dance, the third (and presumably final) instalment in Channing Tatum’s stripper franchise. Maxandra has coaxed our hero, down-on-his-luck former stripper Mike Lane (Tatum), to London with the promise of 60,000 and the opportunity to direct his very own erotic dance show. But Maxandra’s vision, which quickly becomes Mike’s vision, too, is one of relatively chaste refinement. The aggressive air-humping and up-close gyrating of the former films are – for the most part – nowhere to be seen, replaced by ballet and interpretive modern dance.
But is “suffocation by testicles” not the very heart and soul of the Magic Mike franchise? Is that not the joy? Maxandra talks a good game about how liberating it is to be on the receiving end of a Mike Lane lap dance.

"Magic Mike's Last Dance" is a somewhat baffling and disappointing end to an unlikely trilogy. This one sees the return of Steven Soderbergh to the director's chair, with Reid Carolin again penning the script. Rather than the gritty drama of the first film or the delightful fantasy of the second, we instead get a dull romance with paper-thin characters, lame voice-over narration, and rather clean and puritan dance numbers, resulting in a film that feels more like an advertisement for the "Magic Mike Live" show than a movie.
The biggest problem of this movie is that it never fully decides what it wants to be, or who it is meant to be for. The first "Magic Mike" was essentially the male version of Soderbergh's "The Girlfriend Experience," a gritty drama of the business of pleasure amidst the economic crisis. When that film became a surprise hit, "Magic Mike Xxl" did...

If you’re not someone who dreams of Channing Tatum flipping you around like a flapjack in front of an audience of shrieking women, you may scoff at the release of a third “Magic Mike” film. But the first two weren’t without their delights. 2012’s “Magic Mike” was a gritty exposé of the American dream with a side of oiled abs. In a move both savvy and soul-crushing, “Magic Mike Xxl” leaned fully into selling sex, to serve up a campy, raunchy romp.
It’s tragic, then, that “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” fully delivers neither style nor substance. The film desperately strives to be a spectacle with a tired, faux-feminist message. It is a grandiose love story made for a rowdy audience with unromantic expectations. A filthy early dance sequence promises more for the horndogs, and Stephen Soderbergh’s slick direction lends some artistic cred, but this threequel is gutless — and relatively crotchless.

Channing Tatum is back as the magic man, and Stephen Soderberg returns to direct Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Written by Reid Carolin, this stripper story has a feminist edge as it introduces a new character played by Salma Hayek who’s at the center of the story. Like the other two films, Last Dance has some electric dance numbers (choreographed by Alison Faulk and Luke Broadlick), with Tatum being as charming as ever. But something is missing from this one and its rushed conclusion makes those ending moments appear random and out of place.
We first see Mike Lane (Tatum) working as a bartender at an event where he meets Maxandra “Max” Mendoza, a wealthy socialite going through a divorce. He goes back to her house, and she offers him six thousand dollars to ‘entertain’ her–prompting the longest strip dance scene ever. All the whining and gyrating wins...

Repeating the blissfully perfect, pure ode to pleasure that is Magic Mike Xxl would be a fool’s errand, so nearly a decade later––with Steven Soderbergh back in the director’s chair–cinema’s finest stripper-verse is closing out on a more gentle, familiar, innocuous note. Hewing, unexpectedly, closer to a family film at its heart, Magic Mike’s Last Dance offers a more generalized message of the power of dance to engender community. This reliance on plot––and specifically this plot––rings a touch disappointing when considering the franchise’s bolder peaks. But thanks to a couple of memorable set-pieces, this final outing is still sexier than anything the likes of 50 Shades of Grey or Sam Levinson could ever dream up.

Channing Tatum’s hunky stripper enjoys some sizzling scenes with Salma Hayek but this eccentric threequel feels cobbled together
Channing Tatum’s buff character “Magic” Mike Lane, stripper and hunky sex-positive recipient of the thirsty female gaze, is back again for this goofy, but hastily packaged and oddly anti-climactic threequel from director Steven Soderbergh and screenwriter Reid Carolin.
As the US emerges from the Covid pandemic, Mike has fallen on hard times. He is approaching his 40th birthday (but looking well on it), a business he set up has failed and now he’s working as a barman. Yet, while good-humouredly serving drinks at a fancy charity gala in Miami, there is a connection between him and socialite-hostess Max Mendoza (Salma Hayek). Simmeringly sexy Max hears from one of her guests – this is Kim, played by Caitlin Gerard, a veteran of the first Magic Mike movie from 2012 – that Mike used...

Magic Mike’s Last Dance once again reinvents its intentions, approaching the world of male entertainers in a new light that concludes the trilogy. Director Steven Soderbergh returns to this story after sitting out 2015’s Magic Mike Xxl, leaving Gregory Jacobs to take the reins. The third film leans heavier into rom-com territory, but it still leaves room for the flashy antics.

“Toothless” probably isn’t the first word “Magic Mike” fans want to associate with Channing Tatum’s aging exotic dancer series, but there’s no denying the female-targeting franchise has dulled its bite over the past decade. If the Walt Disney Co. had made a movie about male strippers, it might look something like “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” a soft, in-name-only sequel to the 2012 hit, whose title is about as convincing as reports of director Steven Soderbergh’s retirement.
Tatum’s still got it, and he ain’t about to retire, even if his semi-autobiographical hero, Mike Lane, has lost his magic and seems ready to hang up his thong. Meanwhile, gone are all the other gorgeous hunks who road-tripped with him in “Magic Mike Xxl” — unless you count a lo-res video conference with Ken, Tarzan and two other old friends when Mike gets to London. Near the end of 2015’s Magic Mike Xxl, before putting on their sexiest show, our beloved troupe of strippers (or male entertainers, as they prefer to be called) hear the ecstatic cheers of the crowd on the other side of the curtain. “They’re doing a fucking Twilight routine and they’re mopping it up,” Big Dick Richie (Joe Manganiello) says, exasperated by the preceding group’s PG-13 gyrations and graceless body rolls. Tarzan (Kevin Nash) isn’t surprised: “All those tweeners are growing up, man — makes perfect sense.”
If you keep Tarzan’s nonchalant sentiment in mind, then you may be able to forgive the frustrating disappointment that is Magic Mike’s Last Dance. The “Magic Mike” films may be best known for serving the bodily thrills of hunky male strippers in a blockbuster comedy package, but Mike Lane is so much more than just a stripper. The character, originated by Channing Tatum and inspired by his early experiences in Tampa, Florida, has always been more than the sum of his (very impressive) parts. The third and final film in the wildly successful franchise, “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” sees Steven Soderbergh returning to direct and Tatum returning to his dance roots.

Channing Tatum is no stranger to locking lips with some of the most famous actresses in Hollywood, from Amanda Seyfried to Mila Kunis to Sandra Bullock. His most recent co-star did make him a little nervous, though.

Channing Tatum has finally stopped tinkering with a Gambit X-Men Marvel movie.
The “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” star and producer reflected on the decade he spent trying to get Gambit off the ground. Tatum had been trying to develop a Gambit film ever since being almost cast in “X-Men: The Last Stand” as the character and later leading a spin-off solo film slated for a 2016 release date. Due to director turnover, by 2019, a Gambit movie was deemed dead.
“It got swallowed up into Disney by way of Marvel when they bought Fox, and ultimately I just think that the tone of the movie we wanted to make was very far from what they wanted to do — or, you know, maybe they’re waiting to see how they do it with us or without us,” Tatum told Vanity Fair. “We call every once in a while, but we’ve got to spiritually,...

Back in May 2019, Boston-based fans of bare torsos and body rolls were delivered a blow when the news broke that "Magic Mike The Musical" had canceled its planned pre-Broadway engagement at Boston's Emerson Colonial Theatre. Per Deadline, the producers said that "they don't feel the musical is ready for production" -- unsurprising, given that several members of the creative team had exited a few weeks earlier.
The cancelation, in hindsight, meant that the producers dodged a pandemic-shaped bullet. With the Boston show planned to run until January 2020, "Magic Mike The Musical" would have been scheduled to open on Broadway at around the same time that a stay-at-home order was issued in New York City amid rapidly rising Covid-19 cases. Yet Soderbergh's decision to shelve the Broadway musical and instead direct a third "Magic Mike" movie, the upcoming "Magic Mike's Last Dance," wasn't the result of a psychic premonition. He had...

The Oscar races for best picture, director and the four acting categories will be put into focus.
On Wednesday, Jan. 11, the SAG Awards will kick things off with their unveiling of its nominees in film and television (Variety has shared its final predictions).
Afterward, the Directors Guild of America will reveal the five directorial achievements for this year’s upcoming 75th ceremony, scheduled to take place on Saturday, Feb. 18, the day before the BAFTA Awards.
You can’t talk about the director race without Steven Spielberg being a part of it, even with the BAFTA snub from the longlist. This year, Spielberg, who won the Oscar prize twice for helming — “Schindler’s List” (1993) and “Saving Private Ryan” (1998) — finds himself in one of his most substantial positions yet for his deeply personal drama “The Fabelmans.” With three DGA wins and 12 nominations, Spielberg is both the most awarded and most nominated filmmaker in history.

It wasn’t just Channing Tatum who had to bare all during “Magic Mike’s Last Dance.”
Co-star Salma Hayek revealed that her role was also “physically challenging,” especially when it came to the steamy lap dance sequence teased in the trailer. Hayek plays a wealthy socialite who partners with “Magic” Mike (Tatum) for a London burlesque show. Of course, the duo is also romantically involved as Mike shows off his moves and lifts Hayek out of her seat.
“It’s very physically challenging,” Hayek told Entertainment Tonight about mastering the sequence. “My goodness. You just wait to see. It’s just complicated.”
As for her role in “Last Dance,” Hayek could only tease that she plays a “strong woman” and enjoyed every second of production.
“You know what was my day going into the office? I would just sit around and watch, like, 12 men, semi-naked dancing and doing pirouettes,” Hayek said.

Although the title definitely makes me think of Star Trek, there aren’t many details about Red Shirt other than it’s a “new spin on James Bond” and has “franchise potential.” David Leitch and Kelly McCormick are producing under their 87 North production banner, with Channing Tatum producing through his Free Association banner and Simon Kinberg producing through his Genre Films banner. The package has already attracted offers from several studios that are hot on the concept.
