The second trailer for Alien: Romulus contains all kinds of twisted xenomorph horror. We’ve been having a closer look at the finer details.
Nb: The following contains conjecture and general theorising that may be considered spoiler-y. Nothing that hasn’t been revealed in the new trailer, though.
If March’s teaser trailer for Alien: Romulus played coy, this week’s promo, lasting a full two minutes, is where director Fede Alvarez really bears his teeth. In fact, this writer’s initial reaction was that the new trailer for the upcoming Alien film gives away a little too much.
On closer inspection, though, it cleverly drops all sorts of hints without spoiling too many specifics. The first minute, in particular, merely fleshes out what we’ve already gleaned from various loglines and interviews. Its events take place between Alien and Aliens, and sees a group of six scavengers board an abandoned Weyland Yutani space station.

The first full teaser for Alien: Romulus contains lots of nods to Alien and Aliens. Not only does it integrate the famous tagline for the first film, but we get plenty of cool guns, facehuggers on the attack, and even a xenomorph rising from the water. In other words, all things that made Aliens great.
The connections between Alien and Aliens make sense. Director Fede Álvarez and co-writer Rodo Sayagues have made clear that Romulus takes place between those two landmark films. However, the standout, most shocking scene pays homage to Alien 3, a movie so divisive that even director David Fincher disowned it.
In the final image of the trailer, a xenomorph approaches protagonist Rain and extends its inner jaw. Soaked with sweat and steam, Rain turns her anguished face away from the monster and toward the camera.

If you’ve seen the films of Fede Álvarez, you’ll know the man doesn’t mess around. His 2013 Evil Dead culminates in one of the bloodiest finales ever to grace the screen; his Don’t Breathe takes a juicy and brutal premise (home invaders sneak into a house they really shouldn’t have) and drives it straight to hell. So, handed the keys to the Alien saga, it’s not surprise to see that Álvarez is going straight for the jugular – this second trailer for Alien: Romulus is a foot-on-the-gas ripper, promising intense interstellar carnage set between the events of Alien and Aliens. Check it out:
Can open, facehuggers everywhere – this is a gripping look at what Álvarez has cooked up, offering up a little more of Priscilla's Cailee Spaeny as new protagonist Rain, and David Jonsson as her android brother-of-sorts Andy. But it’s mostly a vehicle for Xenomorphian horror – with rib-cracking chestbursters,...

If I lived in the "Alien" universe, the last thing I'd ever do is step foot on a mysteriously empty spacecraft. Or heck, leave Earth at all; it seems there's little out there in the cosmos besides Xenomorph hive after Xenomorph hive. Space is terrifying enough as is and with bug-looking rape/murder monsters thrown in? Pass.
However, the main characters in "Alien: Romulus" doe not share my trepidation. The official synopsise says the film follows a crew of colonists who, while salvaging supplies from an abandoned space station, discover that it's hosting Xenomorphs. The film's newest trailer does nothing to disabuse the presumption that this is going to end poorly for them.
"Romulus" is set between the 1979 original "Alien" and 1986 sequel "Aliens." The film's set design evokes the steamy, factory look of "Alien". Stan Winston's effects team from "Aliens" was also recruited to create this movie's monsters practically.

Bear Brown and Raiven Brown are about to have their third child. Once again, the couple will give their child multiple names. While this seems strange to some fans who are used to three names, this is something that comes from Bear’s side of the family. Bear himself has two middle names as well.

Fans have been waiting to see some more footage from Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus since the release of the chilling first teaser, and we now have an update on the full trailer for the iconic sci-fi horror franchise's return to the big screen.
There was some talk of the new trailer landing today, but according to insider Daniel Richtman, it will be with us tomorrow, Tuesday the 4th.
In addition, Empire has shared a new official still featuring Cailee Spaeny as Rain Carradine and David Jonsson as her android foster brother, Andy.
Synthetics (or artificial persons if you'd rather not offend Bishop) have been a staple of the Alien franchise since the beginning, but it sounds like Romulus will introduce a human/android dynamic we haven't seen before.

EW has shared two new official promo stills for Alien: Romulus as part of their summer preview, and one of 'em pays homage to a scene from Aliens.
In James Cameron's follow-up to Ridley Scott's '70s classic, Corporal Hicks (Michael Biehn) shows Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) how to use a pulse rifle before the crew land in some real pretty sh*t with the attacking Xenomorphs, and the moment is recreated here with Archie Renaux's Tyler and Cailee Spaeny's Rain Carradine.
The second image gives us another look at a Xenomorph about to give an unfortunate crew member a very bad day.
While the previous movies focused on blue-collar colleagues, soldiers, and prisoners, director Fede Alvarez explains how Romulus will take a different approach by introducing a group of characters who have become as close as family.

We also gain insight into Keith Urban’s sense of humor as Fallon reveals a prank he and Urban once played on Nicole Kidman at an event, plus, the shame-inducing ‘date’ Fallon went on with her years ago.
All these anecdotes seem especially apropos, given that Fallon is celebrating ten years as host of The Tonight Show. In celebration, NBC will air a two-hour special on May 14th, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: 10th Anniversary Special.

Sequels of a successful media franchise can turn out to be risky endeavors as we have witnessed in the past. Many franchises have gone on to make sequels that only ruin their masterpiece of a movie or legacy. The Hollywood star, Tom Cruise is also not a big fan of making sequels with the Mission Impossible franchise being the biggest exception of the star’s career.
Tom Cruise as Agent Ethan Hunt | Source: Mission Impossible: Fallout Tom Cruise wasn’t initially interested in making a Top Gun sequel as well
Tom Cruise will definitely go down in history as one of the greatest action stars of all time. The American actor is one of the most established stars in the industry and has won multiple accolades including 3 Golden Globe awards throughout his career spanning over four decades.
Cruise is most well known for his portrayal of Agent Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible franchise.

KonoSuba is certainly one of the best and most famous fantasy isekai titles, without a doubt. The original novel series was written by Natsume Akatsuki under the pseudonym Jitakukeibihei, but it soon became a popular light novel series continued by Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima. The light novel series ended in 2020 with 17 volumes, but the anime adaptation is still ongoing, and it is heaping up for its third season, which is set to premiere on April 10, 2024. As part of the promotion, a short Kazuma promo was released on the anime’s official Twitter (now X) profile, which you will be able to check out below.
The anime, whose full title is KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!, premiered in 2016 with a 10-episode first season, which was followed by a second season with the same number of episodes. An anime movie, KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!

"Star Trek: Voyager" debuted on January 16, 1995, and was the first series on a brand-new Paramount-owned network, the Upn. Like the network, "Voyager" struggled quite a bit, famously floundering in the ratings and unable to secure the kind of cultural cache held by "Star Trek: The Next Generation," a series that had gone off the air in 1994. The premise was promising enough: a brand-new, super-advanced Starfleet vessel, the U.S.S. Voyager, was whisked clear across the galaxy by an ultra-powerful alien being searching for a mate. When the alien died, the Voyager was stranded in the Delta Quadrant, some 75 years away from Earth. Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) would guide her crew back home, using limited resources and unable to call Earth for backup.
Initially, the reaction was merely warm, with Trekkies focusing more attention on the contemporaneous episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." In early seasons, the "Voyager" showrunners...

Death’s Game: Seo In-guk Had A “Panic Attack” While Shooting A Mid-Air Scene (Picture Credit: IMDb)
Death’s Game’s star-studded cast has everyone wondering how much the producers splurged to bring the biggest stars of Hallyuwood. The thought-provoking suspense thriller has captured audiences’ attention far and wide since it debuted in its first four episodes on Friday (December 15). With a promising narrative that has kept the audience on the edge of their seats, the K-drama has emerged as a weekend binge for K-fanatics. Ironically, it’s not only the audience whose hearts skipped a beat with bone-chilling action; lead actor Seo In-guk was also taken aback by some of the scenes. The actor has now revealed one particular scene due to which he suffered a panic attack.
The ensemble cast of the Ha Byung-hoon-directed show follows Choi Yi-jae, portrayed by Seo In-guk, whose kindness and brilliance make him stand out amongst the lot.

At the close of a particularly fraught year for Hollywood screenwriters, Monday saw the release of the annual Black List – a ranking of the top unproduced scripts in show business.
Voted on by nearly 400 creative executives, this year’s favorite project that has yet to receive a greenlight is “Bad Boy” by Travis Braun, described simply as the tale of a rescue dog who suspects his loving new owner is a serial killer. C2 Motion Picture Group is financing the project and meeting with potential distribution partners imminently.
The list includes 76 titles and covers wide narrative ground. Kirill Baru and Eric Zimmerman’s “The Great Pretender” is the story of America’s sweetheart Tom Hanks getting kidnapped, and the doppelgänger who must step in to save him. Hunter Toro’s “Boy Falls From Sky” tells of an anxious playwright whose world is turned upside down by lies and bone-crushing accidents...

The Black List has revealed its 2023 list of best unproduced screenplays, with scripts that include a biopic of country singer Patsy Cline, the rise and fall of Sam Bankman-Fried crypto empire Ftx, and an action-comedy about Tom Hanks and his doppelganger.
Topping this year’s list is a feature script from Travis Braun titled Bad Boy, with a logline that reads: “A rescue dog suspects his loving new owner is a serial killer.”
Elsewhere on the list is a screenplay about the Broadway playwright behind notorious disaster Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark from writer Hunter Toro, and a script focused on soccer star Didier Drogba from Jackson Kellard.
“This year, the industry was defined by a debate about the value of writers within it, and I think it’s inevitable that this year’s Black List means more than it has in the past,” said Black List founder and CEO Franklin Leonard.

A tale of widowed mother–queer daughter acceptance rings just a little bit sweeter when it stays true to the reticence of its protagonist, an overly caring Korean woman with a headstrong daughter. Based on the book of the same name by Kim Hye-Jin, Lee Mi-Rang's Busan standout and feature debut, “Concerning My Daughter”, is a riveting, tender, and grounded story of kinship and mutual aid driven by the strong performances of its leading actresses.
Concering My Daughter screened at Busan International Film Festival
When the widowed Oh Ju-hee (Oh Min-ae) reluctantly extends an invitation to her daughter Green (Lim Se-mi) to move in with her, she is unpleasantly surprised when Green's female partner of seven years, Rain (Ha Yoon-kyung), joins her in the house. On Tuesday, Arlyn “Heart” Phoenix, the mother of the Stand by Me actor, River Phoenix, and the founder of the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding, honored her late son on Instagram, who had died from a drug overdose on October 31, 1993.
She posted an old photograph of River, including a caption in which the grieving mother reminded people why the last day of October means so much to her.
“Today marks 30 years that have come and gone since River passed away at the age of 23,” she wrote.
“From the first song he ever wrote at five years old seeing a kid being bullied: ‘Why do people fight, Why do people cheat, Why do people destroy the love in our world? I want to give my life for them, I know it won’t be easy my friend. If I could show them God’s, they will receive joy and peace from above.

Rain has promoted Lucius Cary and Dallaslyn Lamb to manager from their previous roles as literary coordinators, effective immediately.
Cary began his entertainment career in the talent department at ICM Partners. Prior to Rain, Cary worked in TV development for Paramount Television Studios and at Jamie Foxx’s production company. Cary’s focus is on representing television writers and directors. His clients include Mathew Brown (Chicago P.D), Tj Scott, Greg Murray (Riverdale), Nina Manni (Power Book III: Raising Kanan), and Angela Tortu, among several others.
Early in her career, Lamb realized her passion was in helping other creatives bring their projects to life and finding opportunities in unconventional avenues. Prior to her work in representation, she got her footing at Striker Entertainment and Fortitude International. In addition, she worked at Activist Artist Management and Art/Work Entertainment representing writers and directors.

For us dazzled foreigners, it’s easy to forget that South Korea — land of superfast internet, glossy K-Pop, state-of-the-art foldable phones and “Squid Game” — is not in every respect the utopia of hypermodernity its recent global cultural boom might lead one to suspect. The nation actually lags some way behind other developed democracies in terms of LGBTQ rights, a fact that drives Lee Mirang’s supple, sincere feature debut, “Concerning My Daughter,” which locates its conflict in the fraught relationship between a gay woman and her uncomprehending parent, but finds its heart in a subtle, radiant performance by Oh Minae as the anguished mother.
Oh’s unnamed character is a widow in her fifties (which puts her quite a bit younger than her counterpart in Kim Hye-jin’s source novel) who initially seems to be living a solitary existence, stumbling under the weight of a massive watermelon, up the hill to her empty home.

The Mortal Kombat series loves to lean on its lore, and Mortal Kombat 1 is no different. While technically a continuation of Mortal Kombat 11, it takes the series in a brand-new direction based on rebooting the timeline and creating a very new universe. Classic characters have a new coat of paint and even some obscure names from the past get a new lease on life.
For those who need a refresher, the first seven Mortal Kombat games culminated in a cataclysmic event that was so bad that Raiden had to use time travel to fix it. His results were mixed, as he saved the universe, but also got a lot of his friends killed. After several games in this second timeline, a time-controlling entity named Kronika became the next big threat, ending in Liu Kang killing her and taking her spot as the Keeper of Time. Elena Rybakina wasn't particularly happy with the way her scheduling was done at the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal , ripping into the Wta following her exit.
This is not the first scheduling controversy we have had this year, and unfortunately for Rybakina, it's not the first one she's endured, either. Rain plagued the Italian Open in Rome very similarly to what we had in Montreal, and Rybakina was the impacted player there too.
While it helped her actually win the event , it was still a tough thing to endure physically, and after going through it again in Montreal, she's had enough. Her match against Kasatkina finished at 3 am local time, and she hopes that was the last time that would happen as she revealed following her loss to Liudmila Samsonova .

Elena Rybakina had to fight in her first-round match at the 2023 Canadian Open in Montreal , but it was a victorious fight.
Taking on a former Grand Slam finalist is never easy, especially when they're coming back from a long injury hiatus. That was exactly the case with Jennifer Brady , who was determined to trouble Rybakina in their second-round match at the Wta 1000 event in Montreal.
However, as unpredictable as the game's outcome was the weather. Rain decided to make its own unscripted entry into the match, leading to an untimely interruption. The game was halted at a crucial juncture - 4-2 during the tiebreak in the first set.
The weight of this abrupt pause was felt heavily by both players, with Rybakina sharing during her post-match press conference about the challenging one-hour wait as the organizers grappled with the decision to continue or postpone.

London, July 24 (Ians) Former England cricketer David Lloyd believes that despite Australia facing a challenging situation in the fourth Test and the match being washed out, the visitors deserved to retain the Ashes.
Rain washed away England’s hopes of levelling the series on day five of the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester as Australia retained their hold on the Ashes.
“For all the problems that would be perceived with the Australian cricket team, they came into Old Trafford with a 2-1 series lead. We can’t forget that and it was England who had to make all the run in this Test,” Lloyd said on Sen 1170 Breakfast.
“Australia parked the bus, filled the team full of batters and didn’t play a spinner. By whatever means, they got the result which means that retain the Ashes and that’s what it’s all about.

Port of Spain, July 22 (Ians) Rain forced India and West Indies to take an early lunch on Day Three of the second Test at the Queen’s Park Oval on Saturday, shortly after seamer Mukesh Kumar got his maiden Test wicket in fellow debutant Kirk McKenzie.
Rain meant that only 10.4 overs were bowled in the first session on Day Three, where West Indies added 31 runs before losing McKenzie on 32 off 57 balls. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite continues to remain unbeaten on 49 off 161 balls, as West Indies are trailing India by 321 runs.
The day began with Mukesh testing McKenzie with his accurate deliveries, followed by Mohammed Siraj slipping in one maiden over. McKenzie got going when he brought out the drive and loft against Jaydev Unadkat for back-to-back fours in the 44th over.

Mixing genres as easily as aspect ratios, Killing Romance gives a whirlwind tour of the largely toxic side of Korean culture. Opening this year’s New York Asian Film Festival, the film blends K-pop, animation, reality TV, and Internet memes to show how celebrity Yeo-rae Hwang rescues herself from a loveless marriage to billionaire Jonathan Na.
Framed as a fairy tale, Killing Romance opens with a biography of Yeo-rae (played by singer Lee Hanee), from her days shilling soda and parkas to her ill-fated movie career. After brutal reviews of her performance in “the most expensive movie ever made,” she flees Korea for the South Pacific island of Qualla. There she falls for Na (Parasite star Lee Sun-kyun), a control freak who ends up imprisoning Yeo-rae in a lavish mansion back in Korea. Fortunately, superfan and failed student Bum-woo (Gong Myung) lives next door. He is more than eager to...

Elina Svitolina matched her best-ever Wimbledon result by beating Iga Swiatek in the quarter-final advancing to the semi-final.
The best-ever result for Svitolina at Wimbledon came in 2019 when she played in the semi-final. She's going to be there once more after beating the top seed at the event in three sets. The Ukranian will have a golden chance to make the final as she'll face Marketa Vondrousova who defeated Jessica Pegula earlier today .
Svitolina played really well so far at this event but beating Iga Swiatek was always going to be very hard. It almost proved easier than most assumed but eventually, Swiatek was able to push the match to three sets. Still, Svitolina prevailed by playing some of the best tennis she's played in years.
The Polish player did a solid prep in Bad Homburg winning a few matches and she added a f ew wins in Wimbledon along...

Leeds, July 9 (Ians) Though Rain wiped out the first two sessions on Day Three of the ongoing third Ashes Test at Headingley, it didn’t stop the action from moving at a frenetic pace in the one session of play possible on Saturday.
In the end, England reached 27/0 at stumps in a chase of 251 after their bowlers made good use of the overcast conditions to bowl out Australia for 224. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley remained unbeaten on 18 and 9 respectively for England to leave the required runs to 224.
Resuming from 116/4 and with their lead at 142 runs, the total could have been a lot less for Australia if Travis Head hadn’t struck a magnificent 77 in conditions that were very tricky for batting.
Chris Woakes (3-68) dismissed first-innings centurion Mitchell Marsh (nicked behind) and Alex Carey (chopped onto his stumps) in quick succession, while Mark Wood (3-66) took out Mitchell Starc and...
