Priscilla Presley — fresh off her settlement with granddaughter Riley Keough that granted her a $1 million lump-sum payment, $100,000 annual salary, and burial rights near Elvis at Graceland — is gearing up for a new court showdown over a lawsuit that claims she was on the brink of “insolvency” two years ago when she partnered with a Florida woman she later shunned.

A messy legal battle initiated by Stan Lee’s estate involving accusations of exploitation and elder abuse by the comic book legend’s inner circle has concluded, with an arbitrator siding with Lee’s former attorney that the lawsuit against him was brought too late.
The five-year legal saga was sparked by The Hollywood Reporter’s investigation into Lee’s estate, which chronicled allegations that people introduced into his life by his daughter, J.C., stole millions of dollars from him. This included Jerardo Olivarez, Lee’s ex-business manager who was given power of attorney. Olivarez allegedly insisted that Lee retain Uri Litvak as his attorney for business dealings, but he didn’t disclose a conflict of interest stemming from Litvak representing him in personal matters. A year after Olivarez was sued, Lee also named Litvak in the lawsuit calling the pair “unscrupulous businessmen, sycophants and opportunists” seeking to take...

A judge dismissed theft charges on Tuesday against Stan Lee’s former business manager, Keya Morgan, after a jury announced that it was deadlocked in the case.
The jurors said they were split 11-1 in favor of acquitting Morgan, who was accused of stealing 222,480 in cash from Lee. Judge George Lomeli declared a mistrial, excused the jury and then announced that he was dismissing the case “in the interests of justice.”
“The defense showed somebody else beside my client got the cash,” defense lawyer Alex Kessel said outside court. “Eleven of them saw that… I think the judge made the right call so my client can go on with his life.”
Morgan was accused of stealing the proceeds from three memorabilia signings in May 2018, which took place about six months before Lee died at age 95. He was tried on three felony counts of grand theft from an elder, and could...

Stan Lee’s estate is one step closer to clearing up a messy legal battle involving accusations of exploitation and elder abuse by the comic book legend’s inner circle, with the settlement of a lawsuit against Lee’s former business manager, Jerardo “Jerry” Olivarez.

As the tributes flood in for the departed Stan Lee, it’s important to remember that while the great man left us a magnificent and inspiring legacy of superheroism, the last year of his life was pockmarked by unnecessary drama and sinister figures. I’ve been writing about Lee’s problems for a while now, and together, they make for a series of increasingly strange and worrying stories that had many concerned for the wellbeing of the comic book legend.
They began last summer when Joan, his wife of seven decades died. Sensing vulnerability, the vultures swooped in and began picking at his fortune and exploiting his fame. There’d been repeated reports of power struggles over who will care for Lee, with those responsible ending up controlling his financial affairs. Los Angeles – The last of the great comic book creators has flown to the beyond. Stan Lee, who led the resurgence of comic book culture – especially in the movies – created legendary superheroes for Marvel Comics, including Spider-Man, Hulk, Black Panther and X-Men. Lee passed away at age 95 in Los Angeles on November 12th, 2018.
His catchphrase was “Excelsior!,” and that exclamation described his passionate life of creation and guidance for Marvel Comics, the upstart company that dared to take on the dominance of DC Comics in the early 1960s. Lee came upon a formula at the right time, to give his heroes specific flaws that represented the angst of the changing times in the 1960s, which was in direct contrast to the lantern-jawed goodness of Superman. Stan Lee has died at the age of 95 but his last few months of life were filled with turmoil.

Stan Lee, the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Hulk and the Fantastic Four, is dead. He was 95. Kirk Schenck, the attorney for Stan Lee’s daughter, confirmed to Deadline that the comics culture legend passed away Monday morning after being admitted to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
As a writer and editor for Marvel Comics, Lee became the most famous comic book creator in the history of the medium — he was the only creator in the field whose fame rivaled that of the characters he created. His career began in 1941 when — at age 17 — he got his first published work, a prose story that appeared in the fifth issue of Captain America Comics. It was the 1960s, however, when Lee minted his reputation and tapped into a vein of pop-culture creativity that made history.

After Stan Lee‘s wife died in late 2017, allegations from his business partner have swirled around the Marvels comics creator that he’s been a victim of elder abuse at the hands of his daughter J.C. — but now the pair is addressing these stories in a dual interview.

Something very strange has been going on in the world of Stan Lee ever since his wife passed away last year. While we don’t know the full picture, not helped by a number of conflicting sources and people apparently impersonating Lee on social media, we do know that the Lapd’s been called to his house to investigate reports of elder abuse, that there have been rumors of financial irregularities in Lee’s accounts and, most bizarrely, that someone had been stealing his blood to sign comics with.

A judge ordered a memorabilia dealer and one-time advisor to stay away from comic book mogul Stan Lee for three years, amid allegations of elder abuse.
Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Laura Hymowitz issued the restraining order this morning against Keya Morgan, who had inserted himself into Lee’s affairs. Morgan was ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Lee and his immediate family until Aug. 17, 2021.

A judge on Friday ordered a memorabilia dealer to stay away from comics legend Stan Lee for three years following allegations of fraud, abuse, and embezzlement.
Keya Morgan has been accused of exploiting his close relationship with the 95-year-old Lee to embezzle artwork, cash, and other assets worth more than $5 million. Lee’s attorney, Jonathan Freund, appeared in court Friday to ask that Morgan be barred from contacting Lee or coming within 100 yards of him.
Commissioner Laura Hymowitz granted the order, and also ordered Morgan not to contact or come near Lee’s daughter, J.C. Lee, or brother Larry Lieber. The order appears to bring some stability to Lee’s living situation, which has been in turmoil since his wife, Joan, died last year.

Days after Stan Lee dropped his $1 billion lawsuit against Pow! Entertainment, Pow!’s Hong Kong owner has unveiled plans for a Lee-themed convention in China.
Camsing International, which bought a majority stake in Pow! last year, said a “Stan Lee (Shanghai) Comic Universe” event will be held between Oct. 1 and Oct. 3 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. It insisted that the confab, which it also described as a “Comic Con,” is authorized by Pow!
The 95-year-old Lee had initiated legal proceedings against Pow! in May, claiming that he had been duped into signing away the exclusive right to his name. He was allegedly under the sway of memorabilia collector Keya Morgan. Lee and Pow! issued a joint statement on Monday, announcing that the suit had been dismissed. Morgan is now barred from contacting Lee or coming within 100 yards of him, under a restraining order granted last Friday.

A joint statement was issued Monday by Lee and by Pow! Entertainment, now owned by Hong Kong’s Camsing International, announcing that the suit had been dismissed.

Updated with details from legal memo: A judge dismissed a restraining order that sought to permanently bar a memorabilia collector from involvement in Stan Lee’s affairs, citing confusion over who legitimately represented the Marvel Comics icon.
Attorney Tom Lallas said he appeared in court today to argue for a permanent restraining order against Keya Morgan, who had inserted himself into Lee’s affairs. Lallas said he was confronted, in court, by other lawyers who also claimed to represent Lee.
“It was very unusual,” said Lallas, who was asked by the Los Angeles Police Department detective investigating claims of elder abuse to step in as legal guardian. “It has never happened to me in 40 years.”
Judge Pro Tem Ruth Kleman, citing the lack of clarity about Lee’s legal representation, dismissed the request for a permanent restraining order without prejudice — meaning it could be refiled at any time.

Stan Lee's legal battle with business partner Keya Morgan has intensified ... with another restraining order. Stan's legal team was in court Friday and requested the restraining order granted last month against Morgan be dismissed. Stan's lawyers argued the first order -- submitted by attorney Tom Lallas on Stan's behalf -- should be voided as Lallas hadn't repped Stan for months. The judge agreed -- tossed the order -- and Lee's legal team filed a new restraining order against Morgan.

A judge on Friday granted a restraining order to protect Marvel’s Stan Lee and his family from a memorabilia collector who allegedly embezzled assets worth more than $5 million.
The collector, Keya Morgan, is accused of isolating Lee from his daughter, J.C. Lee, and others, in an effort to assert control over Lee’s business affairs.
Earlier in the day, Judge Pro Tem Ruth Kleman dismissed another restraining order, which was filed last month on Lee’s behalf by attorney Tom Lallas. The judge found that Lallas, who was fired in February, does not represent Lee.
The new restraining order was filed Thursday by attorney Stephen Crump. In the application, Crump alleges that Morgan made malicious and false remarks about Lee’s daughter to Lee, and prevented Lee’s financial advisers from seeing him. The order bars Morgan from coming within 100 yards of Lee, his daughter, or his brother, Larry Lieber.

Life in the world of Stan Lee has taken a turn for the worst over the last few months.
Among other things, we’ve heard allegations of elder abuse (including the Lapd being called to Lee’s house), reports of hundreds of thousands of dollars being stolen from him, sexual abuse allegations against both Lee and his manager and, perhaps strangest of all, a story saying that someone’s been stealing Stan Lee’s blood in order to make a special ink to sign comics with.
There’s a lot of ins and outs to this twisted tale, but it appears that the man’s troubles aren’t done just yet. The other day, we learned that Lee was seeking a restraining order against his former business manager, Keya Morgan, amidst claims of elder abuse. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating allegations that Stan Lee is the victim of elder abuse, according to a restraining order application filed on Wednesday.
A judge granted the order pending a hearing on July 6. The order blocks Keya Morgan, a memorabilia collector who has been acting as Lee’s manager, from contacting Lee or coming within 100 yards of him.
The application was filed by Tom Lallas, an attorney who represented Lee until he was fired in February. Lallas accuses Morgan of isolating Lee and putting his wellbeing at risk.
“He has been denied contact with family members and other individuals that he has known and trusted over the years,” Lallas argues. “Mr. Morgan relocated Mr. Lee from his family home into an unfamiliar environment without notifying relatives of his whereabouts.”

After expressing nothing but support for Keya Morgan as recently as last week, Stan Lee is now taking his embattled business manager to court with claims of elder abuse.
The 95-year old comic legend and Marvel movie cameo king today saw paperwork filed in La Superior Court seeking an extension of a prior restraining order against Morgan. Submitted by Lee’s former lawyer Tom Lallas and without a signature from Lee or a declaration, this move, I’ve learned, came as the icon’s current legal reps were about to file their own R.O. request.
With the request granted temporarily, all parties anticipated being in court on July 6 for a further hearing on today’s 43-page filing. Among the various conditions of the R.O. is that Morgan must stay at least 100 yards away from Lee and his home. The paperwork also states that “Mr. Lee has a large estate...

Keya Morgan, arrested Monday on suspicion of filing a false police report, was identified in most stories as the manager of Marvel mastermind Stan Lee. But many may not know of his other very famous client: Donald Trump, Jr.

An ugly fight over Stan Lee’s finances is headed to court, as a lawsuit was filed Friday accusing a former publicist of elder abuse.
Jerry Olivarez, who has been closely involved in the former Marvel chairman’s affairs, is accused of draining $1.4 million from Lee’s accounts, buying a West Hollywood condo with Lee’s funds, and setting up a fake charity to sell comic books stamped with Lee’s blood. Lee is 95, and according to the suit, became vulnerable to financial swindles following the death of his wife last July.
Hands of Respect, the purported charity, held itself out as promoting racial harmony. According to its website, blood was drawn from Lee with his “full support and at his urging,” and then used to stamp “DNA Ink” on comic books “as legacy and for his fans.” According to the suit, however, Lee did not consent to the idea.
