Indie rockers Ash were formed in Downpatrick, Co. Down, Northern Ireland in 1992 and were originally a three piece comprising Tim Wheeler ( lead vocals and guitar), Mark Hamilton (bass) and Rick McMurray (drums). After selling over a million copies of their debut album ’1977′, and whilst touring with Weezer, the band felt that they were limited and needed another guitarist to create a fuller sound so asked Charlotte Hatherley to join.
Ash released their second album ‘Nu-Clear Sounds’ and although it achieved Gold status it failed to emulate their earlier success. Ash have announced a UK tour to mark the tenth anniversary of their 2001 album Free All Angels. Charlotte Hatherley will be returning to the band for the three-date jaunt. Hatherley quit Ash in 2006 to pursue her solo career, which began with 2004's Grey Will Fade. She is also part of KT Tunstall's band. The tour will begin at Birmingham's HMV Institute on October 20, followed by Manchester's HMV Ritz on October 23. It will finish at the HMV Forum in London (more)...

Edgar Wright is in negotiations to direct Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life for Universal Pictures. Wright co-wrote and directed the recent horror spoof Shaun of the Dead. Marc Platt is producing Life via his Universal-based banner Marc Platt Prods. Eric Gitter also is producing. Life tells the story of a young slacker who meets the woman of his dreams but finds that he can win her only by first battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends. The project is based on the graphic novel Scott Pilgrim Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, written by Bryan Lee O'Malley. The project is out to writers. Marc Platt Prods. creative executives Adam Siegel and Jared Leboff identified and brought the material into the company. Universal vice chairman of worldwide production Scott Stuber and production executive Jeff Kirschenbaum will oversee the project for the studio. Wright also is known for directing British TV's Spaced. He recently directed a music video for Charlotte Hatherley's "Bastardo," which is styled as an homage to classic British girls' magazines. Wright is repped by CAA and ICM London.
