No one in music was happy this week, or so it seemed, as the best of intentions blew up in several faces in the industry. Bts fans claimed segregation, Taylor Swift fans screamed collusion, and A$AP Rocky fans lashed out at the Swedes over their decision to prosecute the street-brawling rapper.
Meanwhile, a few multi-million dollar deals were brewing, making the complaints seem like teapot tempests.

In celebration of today’s release of the new Paramore album, After Laughter, we’re paying homage to the beloved music videos that perfectly captured our 2000s angst and went down as legends.
Prepare to bask in the dejection:
Paramore: “Misery Business”
We could never look as good as Hayley Williams with fiery red hair, but we sure could try.
My Chemical Romance: “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)”
We lived for the band’s misfit antics in their movie trailer-inspired masterpiece. But what did Gerard Way just want to do?! The suspense haunts us to this day.

Have you heard the urban legend about what happens when you take a mirror selfie three times in a row? Supposedly, as soon as you snap that third pic, the ghost of Karen, the girl who died taking too many mirror selfies for her MySpace page will appear behind you! And the only way to get rid of her is promise you'll put her in your Top 8 friends and that you'll post Dashboard Confessional lyrics on her wall every other day! Fine, we made that up but one look at this photo that's currently terrorizing the Internet and you'll be inclined to believe that kind of story. No matter how many amazing things she does for the world, Taylor Swift can’t seem to escape Twitter trolls and media morons.
The 25-year-old “Shake It Off” songstress recently addressed false reports that she and her gal pal Lorde are locked in a fight. Taylor tweeted, “Media, when you say ‘Lorde & Taylor are fighting’-by fighting do you mean ‘FaceTiming constantly from Us to Nz and LOLing at you?’ Thnx bye.”
Shortly thereafter, Lorde reinforced the notion that she and Swifty are on great terms, tweeting, “Sisters are doin' it for themselves @taylorswift13.” Over the weekend Taylor helped her high school Bff celebrate her birthday by inviting Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional to come and sing “Hands Down” at her party!

After Taylor Swift surprised her Bff Abigail with an intimate birthday sing-along with Dashboard Confessional's Chris Carrabba, we realized how much Swift's lyrics overlapped with Carrabba's. The passionate drama, the bitter revenge, the hopeless romance: Tay and Chris have a lot in common. Imagine Taylor Swift, in middle school, blasting Swiss Army Romance from the passenger seat, later teaching herself the chords to "Hands Down" on her acoustic guitar. No wonder her words seem so influenced by those dashboard confessionals. Can you tell the different between Swift- and Carrabba-penned lyrics? ...

When Taylor Swift's longtime best friend, Abigail, celebrated her 25th birthday, the pop star pulled out all the stops to make it a special night. Both Taylor and Abigail took to Instagram to share sweet videos from the fun party, which included a surprise appearance by Chris Carrabba, the lead singer of Dashboard Confessional - Abigail's favorite band. In the clips, the best friends can be seen belting out the song "Hands Down" alongside Chris, with the whole party joining in and singing along. On Instagram, Abigail wrote, "Dude. Still crying. I died. There's no way. @ChrisCarraba sang me a birthday song." She added, "Thank you @taylorswift & all of my incredible friends & family for making my 25th birthday the most magically memorable night I've ever had." Paramore's Hayley Williams and model Lily Aldridge were also at the star-studded bash, and the group sported fun props to snap pictures in a photo booth.

“I can’t believe I agreed to this,” Bruce muttered, as he locked the front door of Wayne Manor.
“Hey, Bats!” a cheerful voice exclaimed from behind. Bruce turned.
“Peter,” he grumbled at the young man standing in the driveway. “I told you not to call me that when I’m out of the suit.”
“Sorry, Bats! Forgot,” Peter Parker replied merrily.
Bruce groaned inwardly. Here we go again, he thought. “Peter, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I came to keep you company on the drive!” said Peter. “Plus, you know… Alfred thought if I didn’t, you might not come.”

-- Taylor Swift, "Red" (Big Machine Records)
Taylor Swift's "Red," the Grammy winner's fourth album, is a 16-track set that has the singer continuing to step away from her country roots to take on a more rock and pop sound. The album features songs that are big and stadium ready (she has a U2-like moment on album opener, "State of Grace") and others that are soft and slow.
But while "Red" contains its share of winners, many of the songs lack the colorfulness and vitality the album title suggests, leading to an overall letdown. Lyrically and sonically, the album lacks oomph and feeling: It sounds like we've heard it all from her before (check "Starlight").
Hooking up with some new – and popular – producers seemed like a good move for Swift, who has worked with a supertight group of writers and producers on her first three albums (half of...

Ever since Michael Jackson and John Landis unleashed "Thriller" in 1983, shaming all that preceded it, the music video has become an art form within itself. It can be a launching pad for your career (Alicia Silverstone), a favor to a boyfriend (Courteney Cox, Evan Rachel Wood), or a way to begin rebuilding a thousand burned bridges (Mickey Rourke).

In the seminal television flashback episode, fans get a look at the early beginnings of their favorite characters, usually involving some inspirational moment that brings everyone together in some sentimental fashion. Of course, this is Workaholics we’re talking about here, so the beginnings of our favorite trio typically involves them being jerkasses to each other and a crap-ton of alcohol-fueled dickery. Throw in some weed-influenced shenanigans, and it's basically just another episode of Workaholics… but a damn good one at that. The best quotes below:

The Untitled Spider Man Reboot casting saga continues to get interesting. Well, not really. It got interesting when the Internet showed a whooping amount of support and love when “Community” star Donald Glover campaign to get an audition for Peter Parker. Now, it’s back to boring. According to Bleeding Cool’s sources, Sony and director Marc Webb have settled on Jamie Bell.
Although, Bleeding Cool seems to be rather cautious in their reporting since they probably do not want a repeat of the Logan Lerman incident from April.
It’s a decision and congratulations to Sony and Marc Webb for making a decision on Peter Parker. I also hope they make a decision to hire a strong dialect coach if Bell is the guy since he has a rather strong English accent.
Bell is an actor capable of delivering strong performances and he’ll probably be good as the web slinger,...

“Community” may be the best show on television not titled “Breaking Bad” or “Parks & Recreation” and its star, Donald Glover is quite great on it. Over the course of the first season, Glover has taken his character, Troy from reformed jock to a lovable oddball who continues to get weirder as the show goes on. In his hiatus, Mr Glover has started a campaign to play Spider Man in the upcoming reboot and honestly, Glover is the best thing that could happen to that project.
On Friday, Marc Bernadin posted a rather insightful piece regarding the casting of the next Spider Man and how, for this outing, Spider Man didn’t have to be white. In the comments, a user suggested Donald Glover as the next Peter Parker and shortly after, Glover used Twitter to promote his cause with the hash tag, #donald4spiderman. Of course, a Facebook group was created as well.

Chicago – When Quentin Tarantino sets out to write a World War II thriller set in Nazi-occupied France, he can’t help turning it into a hip commentary on war films. Similarly, when Diablo Cody sets out to write a straightforward horror picture about teenage angst, she can’t help turning it into a snarky farce, featuring characters who wisecrack to the bloody end.
Neither screenwriter seems capable of composing a line of dialogue that isn’t colored by their pop culture savviness and distinctive verbal style. Like Tarantino, Cody is one of the few writers working in Hollywood who is the star of her own films. And if “Juno” was Cody’s “Pulp Fiction,” then “Jennifer’s Body” is her “Death Proof.” Everything that was fresh and charming about her previous work has suddenly become stale and irritating. Country star Trace Adkins is adding authenticity to Epix's Nashville-set drama "Tough Trade."
Joey Lauren Adams, Boyd Holbrook and Claire van der Boom also have been cast in the project from Lionsgate TV, executive producer/showrunner Jenji Kohan and co-executive producer/creator Chris Offutt.
"Tough," whose executive producers include another musician, T Bone Burnett, is a contemporary one-hour drama about three generations of a Nashville music dynasty (Sam Shepard, Cary Elwes, Lucas Black) whose penchant for drink, debauchery and divorce has left it on the verge of bankruptcy.
Nashville native Adkins will play Scared, a friend and bodyguard to Linwood Tucker (Shepard) who is fiercely loyal to the family.
The CAA-repped Adkins, who has sold more than 10 million albums, was the runner-up on the first season of NBC's "The Celebrity Apprentice" and has dabbled in acting with the feature "An American Carol" and guest spots on TV's "Yes, Dear" and "King of the Hill.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon
Directed by: Chris Weitz
Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Michael Sheen
Running Time: 2 hrs 10 mins
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: November 20, 2009
Plot: After her emotionally distant vampire boyfriend (Pattinson) ditches her, (literally, in the woods), freshly 18-year-old girl Bella (Stewart) finds a new relationship with a family friend who doesn’t wear shirts often (Lautner) because he is also a werewolf.
Who’S It For? The fans. Only. Outsiders will face numerous reminders of why they weren’t into the series to begin with.
Expectations: At 130 minutes long, was this highly anticipated sequel going to be drawn out, and would an overwhelming amount of cheese make it suck even more than the first one? How would a film with vampires and werewolves balance high school drama?
Scorecard (0-10)

Britney Spears' Singles Collection lands at lackluster #22.

Bon Jovi's The Circle
Photo: Island
Music fans appear to have taken a break from holiday shopping last week, as sales of the top albums took a noticeable dip, and the latest #1 debut did just about half the business Carrie Underwood's Play On did the week before to hit #1.
Jersey icons Bon Jovi take over the top spot on next week's Billboard albums chart with their latest, The Circle, which sold just about 163,000 copies according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. That was just over half of what the band's previous #1, the country-tinged Lost Highway, did in its first week in 2007. It was enough, however, to keep tenor Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas at #2 (136,000) and to knock Underwood down to #3 (128,000) as her second-week sales plummeted by 60 percent.
The only other debut in the top 10 is from righteous metallers Flyleaf,...

'Glee' soundtrack debuts strongly at #4; Weezer's Raditude comes in at #7.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood will score her second #1 debut in a row next week, when her third album, Play On, tops the Billboard 200 chart, thanks to sales of 318,000. While the strong debut was cause for celebration, sales were more than 200,000 below the first week bid for the former "American Idol" champ's smash 2007 Carnival Ride disc, which moved more than 527,000 in its first week.
Regardless, the numbers were more than enough to beat out the #2 album, the soundtrack to "Michael Jackson's This Is It," which will slip from the top perch in its second week thanks to a nearly 50 percent dip to 196,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. But the double disc of mostly previously released material from the late pop star has easily crossed the half-million mark in...

When last the world heard from Chris Carrabba, the Dashboard Confessional frontman seemed to be transitioning successfully into his mid-30s. He rallied from a comically overproduced full-band stab at adult contemporary (2006’s Dusk And Summer) with a quickly flipped acoustic record (2007’s The Shade Of Poison Trees), and scored return-to-form points for sounding as intimate and earnest as he ever did, plus a wee bit wiser. Thus, one would expect album number six to pick up from there, perhaps meandering over to Nashville, or into the arms of a sensible producer like T-Bone Burnett, in order to really ...

'There's a lot of stuff on [Brand New Eyes] that's quieter, so we wanted a place to show that new side of us off,' Hayley Williams says.

Paramore's Brand New Eyes is a full-tilt rollercoaster of an album, snarling and booming one minute, hushed and fragile the next. And while the blaring side is what the band is known for — check current hit single "Ignorance" for proof (and older staples like "Misery Business" and "Crushcrushcrush," for that matter) — it's the quiet stuff that Paramore have really fallen in love with over the past year.
Which is why they agreed to do "MTV Unplugged" in the first place: They wanted to showcase their softer sides.

The Jennifer’s Body soundtrack. If some laboratory boffin types were to put their egg-shaped noggins together and come up with the precise scientific formula for a successful teen movie then their working model might just look something like the forthcoming Jennifer’s Body. Because the cocktail of elements on show in the new offering from the writer/director team-up of Juno scripter Diablo Cody and Girlfight lenser Karyn Kusama seems carefully calculated to seduce as much adolescent audience coin as possible - their film promising spooky diabolism, darkly comic high school satire, a smattering of gore, a dash of rock ’n’ roll, a hot actress (Amanda Seyfried) donning specs in a bid to pass off as an empathetically geeky point of audience identification, and pin-up du jour Megan Fox going for a spot of skinny-dipping. Yet when it comes to the soundtrack, the commercial leanings of Jennifer’s Body...

Panic At the Disco have debuted a music video in support of their new single "New Perspective". Though the song serves as a soundtrack for movie "Jennifer's Body", its video doesn't include any scenes from the film. Instead, it captures the band's members Brandon Urie and Spencer Smith as they walk into a school ground and see people through their perspective.
Beside having a song from the band who are currently touring with Blink-182, "Jennifer's Body" soundtrack album will also feature contributions from Paramore's Hayley Williams, Dashboard Confessional, Cobra Starship, All Time Low and Florence and the Machine. The record has been released in U.S. on August 25 via Fueled By Ramen.
As for the movie, this Megan Fox-starring big screen project will arrive in U.S theaters on September 18. Following a high schooler named Jennifer who is possessed by a hungry demon, this flick is supported also by Amanda Seyfried,...

While it may be some time before we see a new Panic! At the Disco album, the band's fans can get new music today courtesy of the group's appearance on the "Jennifer's Body" soundtrack. Putting together a proper motion picture soundtrack is something of a lost art. Often thought of as a final step in packaging a film for it's final release, many films suffer from a lack of care when it comes to a proper sonic counterpart. While original scores can set the mood and tone of a film, working brilliantly for epics that require no "pop" or "rock" enhancement, in some cases the latter works better and that's usually where the problems start to show. When done correctly, a proper soundtrack should conjure images of the film for listeners long after the last flicker of the projector, or the final screen of the DVD.
The first decade of the "new millennium" has been overtly devoid of memorable soundtracks for the horror genre (sans a few exceptions), as if the music supervisor was brought on-board last-minute and given a tiny budget to work with.

Just when you thought you've heard the last of Jennifer's Body for the week, it turns out we've got the third mention of the film for the day. Starting off just like an earlier post...
First there was the premiere of the Red-Band trailer (see it here). Then there was Fangoria's exclusive bloody photo (see it here). Then there was the premiere of the Green-Band trailer (see it here). And most recently, Kyle Gallner spoke about his role in the film, along which we gave you another exclusive pic.
Now, the final one-sheet for the film has arrived, and the soundtrack has gone up for pre-order...
Bloody-Disgusting got their hands on the full version of the poster (click here to see what they have to say about it), and it looks pretty damn tasty.

Transformers hottie Megan Fox has another film opening soon, trading in epic Autobot action for horror comedy. Styd debuted the Jennifer's Body red band trailer, which drops an F-bomb, racks up the body count, and mixes it up with an eye-linered Adam Brody...who's looking like Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional...which will be on the film's soundtrack. Screenwriter Diablo Cody follows up Juno with this story about a demon-possessed cheerleader, feeding on her high school classmates. Already sounds like a cult classic in the making.

Seattle emo legends Sunny Day Real Estate just announced that they will be heading out on a reunion tour this fall. It will be the band’s first series of shows since 2000 (when they recorded and toured as the Fire Theft) and the first featuring the original lineup since 1998. You probably know Sunny Day Real Estate more from what the band members did after they left the group: Bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith were the first rhythm section for Foo Fighters (Mendel remains a member of that band), guitarist Dan Hoerner has worked with Dashboard Confessional and frontman Jeremy Enigk has had minor success as a solo artist.
The band’s tour will launch on September 17 in Vancouver. They also plan on reissuing their first two albums, the influential Diary and LP2, and the shows plan on drawing mostly from those albums. Those reissues, featuring new liner notes,...
