Nickelodeon veteran Rico Hill has been named vp programming and acquisitions at Cartoon Network and its commercial-free sister channel Boomerang, the network for classic cartoons.
Hill will direct all aspects of programming for both networks, including scheduling, on-air event planning and program acquisitions.
Hill joined Nickelodeon in 1997 and worked his way up the ranks to executive director of production and development at Nickelodeon Animation, where he oversaw the development and production of such series as "The Fairly OddParents" and "Jimmy Neutron". He also oversaw the Nickelodeon Writing Fellowship program, an industry outreach that recruited, trained and staffed diverse writing talent.
Hill will be based in Atlanta, reporting to Bob Higgins, senior vp programming and development at Cartoon Network U.S.' kids businesses.
"From his 10 years at Nickelodeon, Rico has terrific insight on all facets of kids' lives," Higgins said. "He brings an amazing energy and many creative ideas as well as a terrific track record for being able to work across multiple divisions of a network to create ratings-driven stunts.
