The 2022 Grammy Awards broadcast wrapped up with an upset victory of sorts, with Jon Batiste beating out the likes of Taylor Swift and Kanye west to take home Album of the Year for his excellent “We Are.”
That was his fifth win of the night, following four wins during the “Premiere Ceremony,” where all of the awards not deemed cool enough for television were handed out, hosted by the always wonderful Levar Burton.
Batiste also accomplished a rather ignominious milestone for the Grammy Awards themselves: He’s the first Black artist to win Album of the Year since Herbie Hancock back in 2008. You read that right: It’s literally been 14 years and 3 presidents since the Academy recognized the work of Black artists with this honor. And in case you’re wondering, the only nonwhite artist to win Best Album during that time was Bruno Mars in 2018.
Speaking of Mars, Batiste...

Rashida Jones, that beautiful, talented, brilliant, powerful musk ox who you didn't even realize came from a musical family (her father is Quincy Jones), has a new single out in partnership with her nephew, producer Sunny Levine a.k.a. Boss Selection. The song is called "Flip and Rewind" and it's a passionately loving tribute to the ’90s. In the video, directed by Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack (they collaborated on Celeste and Jesse Forever), Jones brings it all back to the era of too-big clothes, random black and white intercuts, and washed-out jeans. In a delightful interview between Jones, that cunning, pliable, chestnut-haired sunfish, and Levine in Rolling Stone, the two discussed their inspiration for the video. Jones said: The inspiration for the video that Will [McCormack] and I directed was to try to evoke the feeling of the Nineties, but not in a mocking way. I think for you and I both,...

Rashida Jones wanted to tell a certain story, play a specific character, and truly challenge herself. So she did what most actors can't: She wrote her own movie.
Along with close friend/ fellow actor Will McCormack, Jones penned a story based on their own relationship: The two dated briefly before deciding they were better off as friends, and then became as close as could be. The result is "Celeste and Jesse Forever," a funny, heartfelt film about a divorced couple intent on remaining BFFs, with Jones co-starring alongside Andy Samberg in the title roles.
The Harvard-educated daughter of legendary music producer Quincy Jones and comedic actress best known for TV's "Parks and Recreation" got candid with us about baring her soul in "Celeste" and the internet's ridiculous obsession with her race.
So is it safe to say "Celeste and Jesse" is the most personal project you've worked on thus far?...
