Emmy Russell faced the American Idol judges on Sunday night’s (February 25) episode!
The 24-year-old hopeful sat at the piano and sang an original song for Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan.

Emmy was fairly quiet and timid while appearing in front of the judges, and she explained why she thinks she’s that way.
“I think there’s a reason why I think I am a little timid and I think it is ‘cause I want to own my voice and I wanna own it,” she said. “That’s why I wanna challenge myself and come out here and really step in and be like ‘Okay,...

Comedian, actor, and artist Jim Carrey announced Tuesday that he is set to join Twitter’s celebrity exodus and shared a new animated cartoon with his followers to mark the occasion.
“I’m leaving Twitter, but 1st here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward,” Carrey said in a Tweet Tuesday.
“It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night. I love you all so much!”
As Carrey describes it, the cartoon features a bearded Lighthouse Keeper who sings a folky jingle as a storm hits his lighthouse.

The tags on this post are not entirely accurate; Shia Labeouf and Jim Carrey aren’t exactly in a celebrity feud. Why? Because in order to be in a celebrity feud, one must be a celebrity. And Shia wants you to know that he is no longer one of those:
I Am Not Famous Anymore— Shia Labeouf (@thecampaignbook) January 13, 2014
Reeaally embracing that retirement “from all public life,” Shia.
Anyway, here’s the Labeef: While presenting the award for Best Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical at the Golden Globes last night, Jim Carrey decided to have a little fun at the Transformers star’s expense.

"American Idol" isn't the only Fox reality singing competition with children of major celebrities stepping up to the audition plate. On Wednesday's episode of "The X Factor," Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed's daughter -- Sophie -- tested out her pipes in front of the panel, not unlike Jane Carrey (Jim's daughter) on "Idol" last season.
Sophie, whose parents attended her audition, said she didn't want to be known as the Kiss rocker's kid, but did confirm who her dad is before singing Adele's "To Make You Feel My Love."

Wednesday night’s installment of American Idol — focusing on Day 1 of Season 11 Hollywood Week — ended with a horrifying cliffhanger: Lovely and poised 16-year-old Symone Black falling off the stage and hitting the auditoruim floor in a horrific heap. But fret not, Idoloonies, I’ve got the transcript — made up entirely in my brain — of what happened next:
Jennifer
My shoes! My shoes! I think that girl splattered a drop of blood or something on my $12,500 shoes!
Randy
Yeah, yeah, yeah! Hollywood Week, baby! Season 11 is On!
Nigel
Who got the shot? Camera guys, did any of you get the shot?...

Jim Carrey has said that he is "proud" of daughter Jane Carrey for following her dreams and auditioning for American Idol. The 24-year-old waitress impressed judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson to make it through to Hollywood Week, but unfortunately her journey ended there on Wednesday night (February 8) when she was sent home. Jim told Entertainment Tonight: "I'm very proud of Jane. I believe in her talent as a singer and songwriter. Difficult moments are a necessary step along the path to success." > American Idol: Jim Carrey's daughter Jane Carrey sings at Hollywood Week - video Jane had performed 'Looking Out My Back Door' by Creedence Clearwater Revival during season 11's Hollywood Week but it wasn't enough to keep her in the competition. "Sad Jane Carrey got eliminated from American Idol. She was nervous. She is one of the most amazing singers! Hope she tries again next year!" Jim Carrey's daughter Jane Carrey took to the stage on American Idol's first Hollywood Week episode on Wednesday night (February 8). The 24-year-old waitress performed Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Looking Out My Back Door' but unfortunately it wasn't enough to keep her in the competition. "I freaked out when I was there and so I was really shaky," she said afterwards. "I know I can do way better than that so I'm really disappointed in myself." Jane added that she had been comforted by her Hollywood star father and remained hopeful that her dream wasn't over: "[My dad] said, 'I've been said no to a bunch of times' and it worked out well for him in the end, so hopefully I have a shot." At last, after wandering for weeks in the desolate wasteland known as "American Idol's" audition rounds, we have emerged into the deafening, hyperbole-ridden circus known as "Hollywood Week." This is not actually an improvement, because it seems as though we're actually hearing less singing now than we did in previous installments, which makes it somewhat difficult to judge the singers. Since we're lucky to hear 20 seconds of actual vocal demonstration from any of the hopefuls, my previous method of choosing the episode's five most memorable moments has been rendered obsolete. Thus, I'll be doing a straight rundown of the episode's highlights during this section of the competition.
In this week's episodes, we'll see 309 golden ticket holders summarily whittled down to a more manageable number, before the contestants are shoehorned into groups for next week's mass slaughter further elimination process. There will be tears, there will be tantrums, and there...

The 24-year-old auditioned for the competition in San Diego, wowing judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez (who co-starred with Jim on In Living Color) and Steven Tyler.
"The last name definitely helps and hurts," Jane revealed during her audition. "I feel like there's this pressure to maybe be better because if I make it somewhere, I run the risk of people saying, 'Oh, you only got there because of this.'"

If the first 60 seconds of this week's American Idol were any indicator, we're in for one Hell of a ride during Hollywood week. Let's get to it, shall we?
To encourage the contestants, or at least entertain them, Steven Tyler gave a rousing speech borrowed from none other than the Cowardly Lion about what they would need to get up on that stage and sing... with courage. And with that hair and those jowls, Steven could probably play the Cowardly Lion if there were a modern remake. I mean, I could buy that he's a lion (or tiger, or bear, oh my!) of some sorts. Or was. Or thinks he still is.
Ryan reminded us that half of the hopefuls will be going home during Round One of Hollywood week and gave us the breakdown for how this round works. Contestants will be placed in groups of ten and each...

It’s Hollywood week on American Idol, the week where some of the contestants who blew the judges away during auditions fell under pressure and others continued to shine. Of the 309 contestants brought to Hollywood, only half of them continued on. Needless to say, the pressure was on. Nerves were higher than ever. It was equally satisfying as it was disappointing to see just who made it through round one of Hollywood week. As host, Ryan Seacrest put it, “only the strong will survive.”
“Listen, none of you should have to be on that stage and beg.” – Randy Jackson
Solo performances on the Hollywood stage proved to be a piece of cake for some singers while others miserably failed to captivate the judges a second time. The latter was almost too difficult to watch. Thankfully, judge, Jennifer Lopez was still in love with Johnny Keyser and Heejun Jan as both...

When it comes to "American Idol," everyone wants to go to Hollywood. But the euphoria from that Golden Ticket doesn't last long for contestants, as the slash-and-burn process of the notoriously cutthroat Hollywood Week takes hold.
This year, 309 contestants made it through to Hollywood, and the whittling-down process started immediately. Wednesday's (February 8) "Idol" focused on the beginning of Hollywood Week, when 68 contestants were shown the door by the end of day one.
Among those going home was Jane Carrey, daughter of actor Jim Carrey, who failed to make much of an impression with her timid take on Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Lookin' Out My Back Door." Because of her family ties, Carrey was one of the most noteworthy contestants from the audition episodes,...

For all of Jim Carrey’s outlandish moments, it turns out his daughter is pretty normal. The daughter of the funnyman appeared at American Idol’s San Diego auditions, which aired Sunday night. “I’m a huge ham. I always like to be onstage,” she said, showing she does have at least some things in common with her famous father.
