Vanderpump Rules Tom Sandoval Reveals Buyout Offer To Ariana
It is still unclear what is going on with Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix’s Valley Village dream home that they purchased in 2019. The hope was they would grow old there together. Saturday Night Live skipped its traditional cold open and instead went with brief bits featuring cast members and their moms, in honor of Mother’s Day.
“As you know, it is Mother’s Day in about 29 minutes,” said Kenan Thompson.
“So still plenty of time to buy a gift,” said his mother, Ann.
“I told you mom, my children are my gift to you,” he responded.
“So me babysitting them is my gift. How generous,” she said, with a bit of sarcasm.
Then, Thompson explained that “with so many upsetting stories in the world right now, we thought we would take a break from a regular cold open and hear some heartwarming stories from our moms instead.”
Then his mom responded, “Really? That is too bad. I was excited to see who was going to play Stormy Daniels.”

Joanna Arnow’s “The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed” is, among many other things, an impressively edited film, even though there aren’t a lot of whizz-bang transitions, tangents bouncing back and forth in time, or sharply atomized action stitched together into a crescendo. There isn’t even really a B story.
But “The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed” sets an even higher level of difficulty for itself. The film is a series of glimpses into the life of a millennial named Ann (Joanna Arnow) over the course of a year, dealing with no life-and-death issues but just life issues: a frustrating job, the quirks of her family, dating, and a set of Bdsm relationships with doms across New York City.
The structure of the film feels gentle and unabrasive. There’s a seasonal progression of the film’s chapters from spring to winter and back again.

Akira Toriyama’s untimely death has left the entire world grief-stricken. It was too early for such a legendary figure to leave everyone behind. He gifted the fans one of the greatest pieces of fiction, the Dragon Ball franchise. Son Goku and Vegeta established themselves as the most electrifying figures in the world of anime through Akira Toriyama’s magic hands.
Apart from the Dragon Ball franchise, the legendary mangaka has several other notable works. One of them is Sand Land, which got a movie adaptation in 2023. The anime adaptation of Toriyama’s magnum opus was released on March 20, 2024. But the thing that has caught the attention of the fans is the last interview of Toriyama on Sand Land.

Blending found footage and what appears to be grainy 16mm (they shot the film on an early Dv as a matter of fact), Kyle McConaghy and Joe DeBoer’s Dead Mail embraces the creepiness of its concept. Like Jane Schoenbrun’s I Saw the TV Glow or Kyle Edward Ball’s Skinamarink, this is the stuff of subconscious nightmares, though Dead Mail falls slightly more into the slasher camp. The film is effectively creepy from the feeling that––à la Harmony Korine’s Trash Humpers––it’s a relic of the past. Also, like Schoenbrun’s film, it suggests a story that could have been imagined from a 20/20 segment or a late-night documentary that a child should not have watched after their bedtime but nevertheless did.
Dead Mail delivers something original, playing its horror down the line, no doubt influenced by lesser slasher movies. Yet the picture is grounded in...

The only witness to a horrific crime couldn't leave her home... until she could.
Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Episode 8 felt like Svu's take on Rear Window -- a classic movie in which Jimmy Stewart played a homebound man who witnessed a murder from his window.
The series put its unique spin on the same trope, offering a compelling story where Benson had to find a way to help the frightened witness come forward. Miraculously, she did it without falling into the obsessive behavior plaguing her recently.
Benson's interactions with Anne only comprised a small portion of the hour. There was a lot of solid police work before she got involved with encouraging Anne to come into the squad room.
As a bonus, Benson did quite a bit of directing the other cops' investigation. While she did question a few witnesses herself, this story was much closer to what she ought to be doing as captain.

There are so many fabulous women wearing so many fabulous ‘60s outfits in Apple TV+’s Palm Royale, it’s like a Ryan Murphy fever dream. A cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Laura Dern and Carol Burnett is undeniably tantalizing, but Palm Royale — debuting this Wednesday on the streamer; I’ve seen the first three episodes — never lives up to its stellar cast. Campy and overbaked, it manages to fall between the cracks of the dramedy genre: not funny enough to be a comedy and not compelling enough to be a drama. But the clothes do look great,...

Coleman Hough, who received solo screenplay credit on the quirky Steven Soderbergh-directed improvisational films Full Frontal and Bubble, has died. She was 62.
Hough died Feb. 24 at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, her friend Jennifer Romine told The Hollywood Reporter. She was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s when she was 42.
Full Frontal (2002), set in Hollywood and a film within a film, shot in 18 days using a consumer-grade digital camera and was the first produced screenplay by playwright and poet Hough.
Featuring Julia Roberts, Catherine Keener, David Hyde Pierce, Blair Underwood, David Duchovny and Jeff Garlin as a Harvey Weinstein type, it marked an extreme change of pace for Soderbergh, who was coming off Erin Brockovich (2000), an Oscar win for Traffic (2000) and Ocean’s Eleven (2001).

A breakout from last year’s Directors’ Fortnight (where it premiered alongside The Sweet East), Joanna Arnow’s (deep breath) The Feeling That The Time for Doing Something Has Passed will open on April 26 from Magnolia Pictures, ahead of which is a first trailer.
Rory O’Connor was impressed upon the film’s Cannes premiere: “Developed from a semi-autobiographical screenplay, Passed emits a more endearing, much funnier vulnerability: the kind of jokes that seemed a bit too knowing and cynical in her earlier work now land with delightful fatalism. Arnow stars as Ann, the thirty-something woman in the kind of soulless, mid-level corporate job where a boomer boss calls a meeting to tell you to get on Spotify. Her world is a mosaic of micro-observations: an instant curry that looks like dog food, squeezed from its sachet to the very last drop; the self-satisfied chuckle of someone listening to a podcast...

“The Feeling That the Time for Doing Something Has Passed” debuted at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in the Directors’ Fortnight program, and went on to screen at TIFF and NYFF. When a mysterious bloody plea for help ends up in the dead letter office of a rural post office, the inspector on site becomes determined to find its origin, leading him down a deadly road in writer/directors Joe DeBoer and Kyle McConaghy’s new lo-fi thriller Dead Mail. Opening with a desperate man crawling toward the postal box with a hastily scribbled, somewhat vague note covered in blood in what appears to be a last-ditch effort to free himself and quickly circling back on itself, there’s nothing common or expected about Dead Mail. The message makes its way through chatty long-timers Ann (Micki Jackson) and Bess (Susan Priver) in the sorting room en route to missing mail guru, Jasper (Tomas Boykin). Jasper has a knack for...

The Royal Flush Tour will launch on April 20 in Greenville, South Carolina, and will make stops in major cities like Atlanta, Boston, and Montreal before performing their final show in Morrison, Colorado, on September 22.

In honor of the Sundance Film Festival’s 40th Anniversary, The Hollywood Reporter is looking back at the reviews of some of the festival’s biggest premieres. Steven Soderbergh’s sex, lies and videotape established him as a filmmaking force and premiered at the fest when it was still called the United States Film Festival. THR’s original review is below:
John and Ann are on the fast track: He’s just been made partner, and she’s decorated their condo with exquisite good taste. They’re a Yuppie couple in all outward respects, but they don’t make love, and he’s fooling around with her sister. That’s the dark gist of this penetrating, moving and darkly funny independent feature.
