The stars paid tribute to Chester Bennington on Friday night.
The late Linkin Park frontman was honored in a powerful tribute concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, with performances by Blink-182, Alanis Morissette, Avenged Sevenfold, No Doubt and more. "I don't have the words," Mike Shinoda, the Linkin Park co-founder said as he greeted the sold-out audience of over 17,000. "I don't think any of us do." Nearly three hours of performances followed on a stage with a microphone draped with flowers to honor Bennington, who committed suicide on July 20. Blink-182, who was set to tour with Linkin Park this year, took the stage to perform their song, "I Miss You," before joining Linkin Park's members for "What I've Done." Avenged Sevenfold, Takahiro "Taka" Moriuchi of One Ok Rock and Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley followed.

A terrorist threat has upended a German music fest, and forced the swift evacuation of more than 80,000 fans. The Rock am Ring festival was starting Friday in Nuerburg, but organizers suddenly announced police were advising they immediately clear out the grounds "due to a terrorist threat." Fans appeared to be pouring out in an orderly fashion ... no stampede at all. In fact, thousands were singing along as they filed out of the Nuernburgring stadium. There...

On April 20, Limp Bizkit was supposed to give a concert at a Sunoco in Dayton, Ohio. At least, according to Facebook. "We come all the way from West Milton to see Limp Bizkit. Live action," said fan Randy Ray, just one of the 8,9000 confirmed attendees (on Facebook) who showed up, ultimately just to be disappointed, according to Wrgt. Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst issued a statement on Twitter declaring the concert a hoax, but it didn't stop fans from showing up - many were simply there for the fun of it, although a few were hoping for a last-minute surprise: "Where you at?...

Australian pop-punk upstarts and Rolling Stone cover stars 5 Seconds of Summer graced the Conan stage Monday and performed an acoustic version of their Sounds Good Feels Good single, "Hey Everybody."
Despite the stripped-down instrumentals, 5 Seconds of Summer delivered the infectious cut with the requisite attitude and angst, cruising through the chorus with an impressive wave of four-part harmonies. Not even the confines of their stools could keep guitarists Luke Hemmings and Michael Clifford from trying a few rock kicks as they brought the song to a close.

It’s reassuring that even after spending a large chunk of 2015 making radio-ready pop music with the likes of Justin Bieber, Skrillex can still throw down a set of bone-rattling bass music when the situation calls for it.
Now that Edc Brasil has wrapped up, a direct recording of his performance at the festival has begun making its rounds on social media, and it’s definitely worth watching. Mixing grating bass wobbles with saccharine melodies and borderline chipmunk-esque vocals in the style that Skrillex is known for, the performance succeeded in energizing the thousands-deep crowd in attendance on the evening he played.

Hidden behind the drum kit in this Sum 41 soundcheck video is an 8-year-old by the name of Jonah Rocks. According to his Facebook page, the tiny, tenacious drummer had the opportunity to play with the Canadian rock band earlier this year, jamming out to "Still Waiting" like a pro.
Jonah has been playing the drums since the age of three and skyrocketed to viral fame a year later when his rendition of "Toxicity" by System Of A Down hit YouTube. Since then the talented young rocker has met and played with Travis Barker (Blink 182), Jay Weinberg (Against Me), and Branden Steineckert (Rancid).
We applaud Jonah for his preferred taste in new American punk rock. For more of his adorable drum skills, check out the video below, which shows the prodigy at the tender age of 6 playing along to Foo Fighters. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Last night’s flashback-tastic New Girl episode, “Virgins,” was a treasure trove of music to set the mood — some songs more successfully than others — as the loftmates looked back on their first sexual encounters. Anchoring the eclectic mix (which ranged from Sublime to Boyz II Men and even figured in Lisa Loeb), Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen” kicked in during a fan-fulfilling scene between Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel).
It got us thinking of some of our favorite first-time anthems from shows of yore. Below, our ultimate Spotify playlist of coupling tracks!

Billy Talent have been forced to cancel eight dates on their European tour after the death in the band's inner circle.
"I have 3 things tattooed on my forearm. Friends, Family and Music," singer Ben Kowalewicz wrote on the band's site. "They are the 3 most important things to us. We have lost someone who was very close to us and it's been the most surreal week we've ever experienced. We are not the type of band that cancels shows and never have been in our 20 years together but we feel under the circumstances, that we have to pull out of the remainder of this tour.
"It's a very hard thing to do for us as we don't like to ever let our fans down but we honestly feel that right now we have to be with our friends and family to get through this. We will make it up to you all we promise.

A recent study by doctors Alisun Pawley and Daniel Mullensiefen seeks to answer the question: Why do we sing along to certain pop songs and not others?
Pawley, a teacher, musicologist and musician who just wrapped a tour of Sweden with the Blossom Street Singers, said this is the first study of its kind, and it's taken her and Mullensiefen about six years to finalize the data.
"I originally got this idea by wondering whether pop songs were written specifically so amateur singers could sing along with them," she said. "But that definitely wasn't the case."
To research the project, Pawley spent 30 nights "undercover" at clubs and bars in the U.K., factoring in variables like time of night, proximity to a big city, vocal performance, lyric intelligibility and gender. She attended 1,050 "song events" and analyzed 636 songs. The study is expected to be published later this year in the Music Perception journal.

ObsCure is a survival horror game released in October of 2004 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It was developed by Hydravision Entertainment and published by DreamCatcher Interactive. The game follows a group of four friends searching for their missing friend at Leafmore High. The students discover their school is stranger than it already appears. After being locked in for the night, they witness strange creatures who are extremely sensitive to any source of light. The game follows a conspiracy that the principal of Leafmore High, Herbert, has been conducting experiments on students in an attempt to stop or reverse ageing.
ObsCure isn’t a typical “zombie infection” type of story. The creatures are especially creepy, the puzzles are genius and the games cut-scenes are magnificent for its time. Each of the five playable characters in the game have special abilities that match their personalities, which makes for a great second or even third playthrough.

This week's Game of Thrones really brought the bloodshed with a violent riot, a few assassinations and a very public beheading making up most of the episode's action.
Let's sharpen our blades and jump into the fray, shall we?
The episode kicks off with the fall of Winterfell (the Winterfall?) to Theon Grejoy - Old Monk Dude (Maester Luwin, aka The Bad Guy from Being Human, aka Donald Sumpter) manages to get a raven out the window (no, that's not a euphemism) before he's taken by the Greyjoy soldiers (again, not a euphemism).

When we tipped off the Musical March Madness Sweet 16 on Monday, we told you that things were about to get interesting ... and, well, we weren't lying.
Because as our bracket got smaller, only the best of the best remained. And with so many big-name bands still alive in the quest for the Mmm championship — heavyweights like Green Day, Linkin Park, Paramore and Evanescence — the matchups were only going to get tougher. We knew that this was the round where the mighty would begin to fall.
And, after one day of voting, that looks like it's going to be the case. Sure, there's still time to help your favorites advance to the next round — voting in all Sweet 16 matchups closes...

After two rounds of upsets and upheaval, MTV's Musical March Madness has finally reached the Sweet 16, where things really start to get interesting.
Because at this point in the tournament, only the strong remain: Our last two champions are both still alive, as are the last two runners-up. There are the perennial powerhouses still looking for that elusive Mmm title, and a few hard-to-kill underdogs, too, each hoping to shock the world.
And with matchups that include Evanescence vs. Linkin Park, Paramore vs. 30 Seconds to Mars and Green Day vs. James Durbin, this year's Sweet 16 is shaping up to be one for the ages. And if your favorite band is still alive, you can help them move one step closer to the Mmm title by voting now.

Voting in the second-round of MTV's Musical March Madness is entering the home stretch and, well, it's not looking good for Metallica. After disposing of fellow titans Guns N' Roses in round one, James Hetfield and company currently trail upset-minded Sum 41 by an "Unforgiven"-size margin ... and appear headed for the void.
Of course, there's still plenty of time to change things — voting in all second-round matchups closes Sunday at midnight Et — and, as luck would have it, Metallica are getting support from a rather unlikely source: WWE superstar John Cena, who would like to strongly encourage you to vote for his favorite band. And we mean strongly.

That's because, with polls in all second-round matchups set to close Sunday at midnight Et, it's looking very much like the favorites will flex their collective muscles and advance to the Sweet 16, as Evanescence, Paramore, My Chemical Romance and Green Day all hold commanding leads over lesser-seeded opponents.

Of all the first-round upsets in MTV's Musical March Madness tournament (and there were a lot), none was as shocking as Toronto hardcore act F---ed Up's trouncing of top-seeded — and heavily favored — Mumford & Sons. Except to F'ed frontman Damian "Pink Eyes" Abraham, that is. He saw this one coming from the day the bracket was revealed.
"I think anyone who bet on them was a fool, because, let's just be honest, if their fans were really living the Mumford & Sons way, they're probably not the most technologically savvy individuals in the world," he laughed. "It's all based on, you know, the 1920s, so the Internet at that point was just a wireless typing device, and it takes a lot longer...

The thing about Sum 41′s Deryck Whibley is this: Even his name sounds like that of a small tree creature. But “so what, who cares” about that, because 5’5″ Deryck, you’ve just become the smaller half of our new favorite Tally-Smally couple, along with your 6 foot tall girlfriend Ari Cooper. I mean Ari, speaking to you as a 6 foot tall woman myself, not sure the wooden stilt shoes you’ve strapped to your feet are helping the situation at all (they’re not.) But as a stereotypical black sitcom character would say in the 90s, “Go on with your tall self!” So sorry George Clooney and Stacy Keebs. You’re gonna have to up your Tally-Smallyness game hugetime if you want to stay at the top of my extremely fickle list. More pics of this model and her tree elf ahead.

It's back! MTV's third annual Musical March Madness tips off today (March 12), pitting the 64 bands that matter most against each other in a bracket-battle to the death (Ok, no one actually dies, but we're rolling here). And like in previous years, your votes determine who advances on — and who will ultimately hoist the big gold trophy when the tournament ends April 3.
Can Green Day repeat as Mmm champs? Will perennial powerhouses My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and Paramore finally make it to the top of the mountain? Or will 2012 bring us another unheralded winner, a la Coheed and Cambria in 2010? All of these questions — and more — will be answered in the coming weeks, as the drama and majesty that is Musical March Madness plays out before our very eyes.

So, folks…I’ve been pretty lazy in my necessary duties as a staffer at the Liberal Dead. I don’t really pull my weight and even though I’m not doing this for pay or anything like that, I do feel consequences whenever I don’t pitch in. And it’s not because of my editors or anything—no, every single person at Liberal Dead is a great person who understands that I’m a busy man. I still feel like I have an obligation, however, to present my corner of weirdo horror cinema to you, the reader. As a result, it’s time for me to make it up to you. Simple sex won’t suffice. We’re going straight-out clusterfuck on this one. I present unto you as many reviews as I can do in one weekend, in one big, snappy package. I hope it’s enough.

The groups will start the shows at Dublin's Academy on February 5 and finish up at Camden's Roundhouse in London on February 17. Speaking about the tour, Kerrang! editor James McMahon explained: "Everyone at Kerrang! prides themselves on the fact that our tours are always a heap load of fun, but this year's tour really does offer something for all rock fans - you've got punk, you've got pop punk, you've got hardcore, you've got metal. "It's a reflection of the broad church you'll find in the magazine's pages (more)...
