Popular manga characters receive their first film adaptation as they seek out a villainous colonel and an elusive dessert, brought off with great style by director Takashi Katagiri
After a successful TV adaptation, the popular characters of the bestselling manga Spy x Family are ready for their big screen closeups. Directed by Takashi Katagiri from an original story, this highly entertaining film maintains the ingenious blend of espionage escapades and slice-of-life shenanigans that has made the series a smash hit, all while expanding its set pieces to a more spectacular scale. To achieve this delicate balance between comedy, suspense and action thrills is no easy feat and for the most part, the film accomplishes this mission well.
The lovable Forger trio of spy papa Loid, assassin mama Yor, and telepathic daughter Anya, are swiftly reintroduced; this fake family embarks on a hilarious adventure involving an elusive dessert, stolen negatives and a villainous colonel.

There are so many directions that a Spy x Family could pursue. The ongoing anime has a deeply versatile story structure that allows it to indulge in diverse missions so that the series always feels fresh. Accordingly, it’s seriously surprising to see Code: White function as a covert cooking anime movie.
It’s the type of story that audiences would expect to see in a Food Wars! or Toriko feature film, but not Spy x Family. It’s also an ambitious approach to Spy x Family’s first movie that hedges its bets and is too cautious to disrupt the status quo. Code: White is still rich in classic Spy x Family elements, even if it amounts to an empty meal.

In Spy x Family Season 2 Loid, Yor and Anya embarked on a cruise together, marking the Forger family’s very first vacation. Spy x Family Code: White sees the Forgers taking another trip, and if it’s anything like the anime’s second season, there will be more to the train ride than seeing the sights. That said, Spy x Family is a series where the ordinary tasks hold just as much importance as the missions at hand, which begs the question... what would your role be in the Forger family trip? Your Guide to Witty and Funny ‘Spy x Family’ Characters (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Cold wars and espionage stories have never been as funny as those in Wit Studio’s hit anime “Spy x Family.” But it’s not the action or the politics that makes this anime stand out; it’s the absolute comical sequences that follow a found family of spies, assassins, and mind-readers trying to convince everyone around them that they are as accurate as the next white-picket-fence household.
“Spy x Family” is an action comedy manga released in 2019 and adapted into an anime in 2022, instantly becoming a global hit. It’s set in Ostania, a fictional war-torn country that recently got out of an all-out conflict with its neighbors, Westalis. Both nations are standing on thin ice and cannot afford another war, yet the tensions between them are at an all-time high. So, Westalis sends in their best agent,...

All photos by Daryl Harding It's one thing to watch Spy x Family but it's another to walk around in its world. To celebrate the release of the Spy x Family Code: White anime film in Japan and the New Year's holiday, the series set up an interactive exhibition that I had the lucky chance to experience. And boy, I was excited (or should we say waku waku ?) to play all the games the exhibition had on offer. But, I wasn't the only one waku waku for the series. Being held in Ikebukuro, you couldn't go down the main Sunshine Street without coming across the Forger family. Banners featuring the characters were on light poles, and music from the series blared out of the speakers, putting a spring in everyone's step as they heard "Soulsoup," "Todome no Ichigeki" and the rest of the franchise's wonderful soundtrack. This all led to...
