Bruce Gray, known to Americans as the father of the groom in My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and to fellow Canadians for playing investment banker Adam Cunningham on the 1990s TV drama Traders, has died. He was 81.
Gray died Wednesday in Los Angeles after a battle with brain cancer, his Toronto agent Jennifer Goldhar confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Born on Sept. 7, 1936, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Canadian parents, Gray returned at age 13 to Toronto, before completing high school at Humberside Collegiate and graduating from the University of Toronto with a psychology degree. In 1960,...

Based on iTunes rankings and TVLine’s post-Top 11 poll, Tuesday’s episode of The Voice should have found JHud’s green teen being redubbed Bye’Ann Jones. But if the Top 12 Results Show taught us — well, me — anything, it’s that the iTunes/poll combo is hardly a reliable predictor of eliminations. So, was the mysterious fan base that doesn’t seem to download Shi’Ann’s songs or vote for her in polls again energized enough to help her avoid the Bottom Two, never mind the axe?

Upon hearing that The Voice‘s Top 11 would be performing songs suggested by viewers, I thought, “Hey, at least we can’t do any worse than Miley Cyrus assigning ‘Delta Dawn’ to Ashland Craft or Adam Levine sticking Adam Cunningham with ‘Against All Odds.'” And who among us hasn’t said to themselves, “No, no, no, don’t give so-and-so that song, give them this song!” then added for emphasis, “Jeez, why would you be so cruel to a member of your own team, Coach?!?” Personally, I wanted to hear Chloe Kohanski try something from the Sia catalog, Noah Mac rock Franz Ferdinand,...

The first live show of The Voice season 13 was not kind to Team Adam. Coach Adam Levine had not one but two of his remaining three singers end up in the bottom and had to say goodbye to one of them, due to America's Instant Save. Although Adam Cunningham, who flubbed his Top 12 performance, was one of the artists on the chopping block, Jon Mero (who was praised by the coaches and audience alike) ended up going home. Jon's axing came as a surprise to many but it wasn't entirely shocking or undeserved.

Headed into The Voice’s Top 12 Results Show Tuesday, it looked, based on iTunes rankings and Monday’s TVLine poll, like Shi’Ann Jones was going to be singing for a save — and hopefully, not a Mariah Carey song, either. Team Jennifer’s green teen was last in sales and close to last in votes. So the question was really, Wth was Miley Cyrus wearing?!? No, seriously, the question was, against whom would Shi’Ann be singing, Ashland Craft, Davon Fleming or Red Marlow, who was polling higher than Adam Cunningham but selling worse?

In the first of the season 13 live shows for The Voice, the Top 12 perform for the coaches to see who will be eliminated. Adam Levine's team has Jon Mero, Addison Agen and Adam Cunningham. Blake Shelton still has Red Marlow, Keisha Renee and Chloe Kohanski. Davon Fleming, Shi'Ann Jones and Noah Mac are left on Jennifer Hudson's team, with coach Miley Cyrus boasting Ashland Craft, Janice Freeman and Brooke Simpson.
The remaining 12 are all very eclectic singers, with styles varying wildly even inside each team. With the first live show, the performers will surely be singing as if their lives depend on it. And it does, as America votes to narrow the team even further in the first results show of the season.

The same as I suspect we all did, I tuned in to Tuesday’s Night 2 of The Voice’s Season 13 Playoffs with some trepidation. And by “some trepidation,” I mean “a whole hell of a lot of trepidation.” A few of Monday’s performances were so godawful — and included one that garnered what I believe was my first-ever F grade — it was like watching American Horror Story: Talent Show. And the coach’s decisions… oh my Lorde, what were they thinking? Jennifer Hudson sabotaged Chris Weaver with a lackluster song that derailed his freight train and allowed her to...

Had Monday’s start of The Voice’s Season 13 Knockouts been Kelly Clarkson’s Blind Audition to be a coach on the show, would you have turned your chair for her? The Grammy-winning American Idol champ certainly appeared to be into it. And her advice seemed on point. (For instance, she suggested that Shi’Ann Jones maybe shouldn’t spend an entire song doing runs, encouraged Janice Freeman not to just copy Mary J. Blige, and brought a hell of a howl out of Dennis Drummond.) But I dunno — she didn’t feel like an obvious slam-dunk the way that...

Going into Tuesday’s final Battles of The Voice Season 13, the general consensus seemed to be… meh. Yes, there have been some standouts. Jon Mero and Moriah Formica come to mind. Janice Freeman put on the kind of show that you can’t describe without adding “stopper” to the end of the word. And Stephan Marcellus really shocked the s— out of me Monday, he was so good. But still, overall… meh. Maybe the season wouldn’t really heat up till the field of contestants was whittled down (much) further in the Knockouts. (Maybe it never would?) At any rate,...

During Night 3 of “The Voice” Season 13, singer Adam Cunningham became the latest country artist to join Team Blake Shelton as he belted out The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Midnight Rider.” Jennifer Hudson also turned her chair because she liked the soul in his voice, while Adam Levine and Miley Cyrus decided to stay out […]...

Just once, wouldn’t you like to hear one of The Voice’s coaches tell a contestant, “No way you’re gonna make it through the Battles, but I hit my button before I realized, so why not join my team, anyway?” It didn’t happen in Tuesday’s Night 3 of Season 13’s Blind Auditions, and — let’s be as honest as the coaches can’t be — probably never will. But that doesn’t mean that you and I can’t appraise the performances with brutal candor. Shall we?
