WWE 2K24, the latest installment in the wrestling game franchise from 2K Sports, has been out for a few days now and has received mostly positive reviews so far from both fans and critics. But it hasn’t all been good, as many Deluxe Edition players reported that they faced several bugs and technical issues, such as sudden crashes that almost left the game unplayable.
However, before all these problems, the Vince McMahon controversy had already marred the player’s excitement about the game, and WWE has tried to distance him from its history. It was reported that he has been removed from the game and will not be seen, but despite that, the game hasn’t managed to fully escape his shadow.

Ronda Rousey has been one of the most prominent faces in UFC and WWE, winning many accolades to her name. Her stint with the UFC made her one of the highest paid athletes on the roster, and was the first woman to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.
She started her mixed martial arts journey back in 2011, and held the record for most UFC title defenses by a female (6), until Valentina Shevchenko broke it in 2022. Rousey finally bid adieu to her Mma career in 2016 to join the WWE.

WWE 2K24 hasn’t been off to the best of releases, with those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition of the game reporting a plethora of bugs and glitches hampering the experience. The game was also reportedly crashing, making it unplayable for several players. Even before the game’s early-access release, it was marred with off-ring controversies.
Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar were both part of a controversy surrounding WWE, leading to Lesnar being removed from the 40th Anniversary Edition of the game. McMahon also seems to be blurred out in the game’s Irl cutscenes, although not completely.

Aew Revolution 2024 was a hell of a show and it ended with the satisfying finale of Sting’s time in the ring. The final stretch of Sting’s career was a wonderful chance to set things right for the legendary wrestler, after the wrestling business had constantly let him down over the years. He was once the ace of WCW, but the incompetence and selfishness of others hurt his legacy in different ways at different promotions. But despite being in his 60s, his three years at Aew allowed him to go out on his own terms.
The Stinger is a beloved icon for a reason. While he did get wrapped up in such unfortunate things as the WCW mini-movies, the Shockmaster, the ill-fated Hulk Hogan match at Starrcade, and a really unfortunate PPV main event involving Jeff Hardy, Sting was still one of WCW’s great highlights and kicked a...

Showtime for the last time. Pro wrestling fans said farewell to “The Icon” at All Elite Wrestling’s Revolution on March 3. More than 16,000 strong inside the historic Greensboro Coliseum and a worldwide audience witnessed Sting’s curtain call. The dynamic legend in paint called it a career after almost 40 years in a venue where he fought so many historic battles. Perhaps most famous is the 45-minute draw he had against Ric Flair in 1988 at the Clash of the Champions on TBS that jumpstarted an illustrious run. This time Sting, real name Steve Borden, stepped into the ring one final time teaming up with longtime partner Darby Allin. They successfully defended the Aew world tag team titles against EVP’s Nicholas and Matthew Jackson, The Young Bucks in their Succession era. Ringside saw many dignitaries from Sting’s past there for support including Flair, Lex Luger, Magnum Ta, Scotty Riggs, Nikita Koloff,...

A wrestling legend producing a biopic about another wrestling legend? Dwayne Johnson is producing a film about Ric Flair called The Nature Boy.
Professional wrestling is a bit weird. From the overblown pageantry to the predetermined outcomes, it’s certainly unique, especially when you figure in the dark underbelly the strange hybrid of sport and entertainment possesses.
You may have seen in the news of late that Vince McMahon, the longtime billionaire owner of the WWE being the subject of intense media scrutiny having being accused of some particularly abominable behaviour. That may only be the tip of the iceberg, too.
The dark side of wrestling was previously explored in Barry Blaustein’s 1999 documentary, Beyond The Mat. In more recent years though, dramas such as Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler and this year’s The Iron Claw have explored the human cost of wrestling.

Baywatch Actor is the Perfect Choice for Dwayne Johnson’s Ric Flair Movie: “He was one of my heroes”
Actor and professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson announced earlier this week that he would be producing a biopic on one of the greatest wrestlers of all time- Ric Flair. The actor mentioned that Flair was a hero to him while he was an up-and-coming wrestler in the WWE and spoke of the type of heroic image that the Nature Boy had in his golden age.
Johnson also spoke about the personal connection he shared with Flair, as the latter and Johnson’s father Rocky Johnson fought together in the National Wrestling Alliance. While the project is still in its nascent stages, a potential lead for the role could be Dwayne Johnson’s Baywatch co-star Zac Efron The actor has proved that he is perfect for the role as he recently starred in the wrestling film The Iron Claw.

We smell what The Rock is cookin’ – and that is a Ric Flair biopic, a long-awaited project about the stylin’ and profilin’ icon of the squared circle, the news of which can make us say only one thing: Woooooo! That’s right, Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions will send a Flair biopic to the ring, with Johnson himself issuing a statement on the film.
Johnson unveiled the biopic earlier this week while also paying tribute to Flair, stating, “As a kid who grew up in professional wrestling, I idolized, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. He was a hero to me. And once I broke into the wrestling business and began to spill my own sweat and blood – my reverence for Ric turned to respect. Because I realized just how rare and impossible it is to disrupt the wrestling business, culture and truly change the game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did.

Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson is producing a film based on the life of his wrestling hero Ric Flair, and considers it a “personal” project. Johnson said on X on: “Woo! As a wild kid, who grew up in the wild world of professional wrestling, I idolised, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. He was one of my heroes. And once I broke into the wrestling business and began to spill my own sweat and blood in arenas across America – my reverence for Ric turned to great respect.
“Because I realised just how rare and almost impossible it is to truly disrupt the wrestling business, and truly change the game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did.”
He added that Ric Flair had a relentless passion to be the greatest of all time.
“But with achieving that Goat status – he also sacrificed it all and paid a heavy price. “And lived to tell the story.

Plot: The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, part of a professional wrestling dynasty in the early 1980s, as they endure tragedy and triumph under the shadow of their domineering father and coach.
Review: The Iron Claw is a film that a lot of people in the movie and professional wrestling communities have been looking forward to. Especially after the episode of Dark Side of the Ring on the Von Erich “curse”, fascination with the subject has soared like a Kevin Von Erich flying crossbody. For me, too, having loved professional wrestling since I was a child, and having seen a lot of the Von Erich tragedy play out, I wondered how in the world Sean Durkin could turn this into a story that audiences could enjoy.
I’m not sure he accomplished that last bit. Don’t get me wrong; The Iron Claw is an incredible film; a harrowing,...

Welcome to this review of this past Friday’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s episode!
Match #1: Austin Theory def. LA Knight The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Austin Theory became the No. 1 Contender to the United States Championship after The Miz showed up to Friday Night SmackDown and cost LA Knight the match. Knight was on a mission to prove a point, especially with The Miz at ringside, as he bashed Theory’s face on the announce table right in front of The A-Lister. Sick and tired of Knight’s success, The Miz hopped off of commentary, and his distraction allowed Theory to roll up Knight and win the match, securing his championship opportunity.
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Asuka & Charlotte Flair def. Bayley & Iyo Sky The following is courtesy of wwe.com:...

Wrestling icon Ric Flair’s final match in the ring was last July, and the Nature Boy reportedly got some shut-eye between swinging punches.
Flair, 74, linked up with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to go fist-to-fist with Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett, the match being his first in over a decade since his stint at Tna/Impact Wrestling and over 14 years since his retirement finale against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24.

Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley are counting down to their massive rematch at WrestleMania over the weekend of April 1-2. It’s not the first time the duo have met in the ring, of course. Back in 2020, Flair defeated Ripley for the Nxt women’s championship at the WWE Performance Center, but that encounter was watched by zero fans because of Covid lockdown. Three years later it’s Ripley facing Flair for the SmackDown title in a marquee battle at WrestleMania 39 before a packed SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
