Update: With Taylor Lautner backing out of the Max Steel, the movie has stalled out, but the Max Steel relaunch is still on. "Max Steel" the animated TV series will debut on Disney Xd in March. Count me as part of the camp that won't believe Robert Rodriguez is actually making Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. In addition to the fact that it's been seven years since the first film was release, Rodriguez has been promising the sequel for years and has never actually come close to actually starting production, instead distracted by movies like Grindhouse, Machete, Shorts, Shark Boy and Lava Girl and Spy Kids 4D: All The Time In The World. We shall continue to wait for first-look footage from the film to prove that the project is actually moving, but in the meantime we have what appears to be the first teaser poster. Found over at Stark Industries (via Den of Geek), the one-sheet is exactly what you would expect from material based on a Frank Miller comic. It should be noted that we're not 100% sure that this is...

Twilight idol Taylor Lautner may be new to the action hero game -- well, at least as a young adult, now that his Shark Boy days are long gone -- but he had a seasoned vet by his side on the set of John Singleton's Abduction: Ellen Ripley herself, Sigourney Weaver. As a therapist to Lautner's thrill-seeking teenager, who stumbles into the spy game after discovering the truth about his own childhood, she shows her young co-star how it's done, effortlessly and with grace. But it wasn't Lautner who studied Weaver's body of work for pointers; instead, Weaver admitted, it was she who studied Lautner's work -- his work in the Twilight movies.

Taylor Lautner stars in the action packed film “Abduction,” which comes out in theaters today. This is Lautner’s first leading role, which he secured after playing abs-flashing werewolf Jacob Black in the “Twilight” movies . Taylor's come a long way since his scrawny, spiky-haired "Shark Boy" days. Now he's a hunky hero! Click “Launch Gallery” below to see Taylor's transformation through the years: Read more...

Three short years ago, the cast of the first Twilight movie were relatively unknown to all but the staunchest Stephanie Meyers supporters. Robert Pattinson was best known for his part as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Kristen Stewart had played Jodie Foster’s daughter in Panic Room and Taylor Lautner was a pre-chiseled dimply kid in Robert Rodriguez’s Shark Boy and Lava Girl. A lot has changed in three years. Besides selling a few warehouses full of extra copies of Meyers’ teen vamp series and countless tickets at the box office, Twilight has launched the careers for a host of young up-and-coming actors and sent leads Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner running from salivating paparazzi. So far, however, none of the Twilighters...

The Rock is getting ready to rumble, Biblical-style. Dwayne Johnson (we just can't stop calling him The Rock, sorry), is in talks to play Goliath, the giant who goes up against a little shepherd boy named David.
Relativity Media reportedly wants none other than 'Twilight' hunk Taylor Lautner for the role of the sling-shot -wielding future king of Israel. That's right, it would be The Scorpion King versus Shark Boy. Bring it!
The Lautner casting offer probably comes courtesy of producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who worked with him on the 'Twilight' franchise.
They might not even need CGI for this thing: Johnson stands at an impressive 6'5" while Lautner is a relatively puny 5'10."

It’s hard to believe it’s been eight years since the last Spy Kids adventure, 2003’s Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. In that respect, director Robert Rodriguez is a victim of his success. Between subsequent Hollywood attempts to create a new kiddie super-spy franchise (see: Agent Cody Banks) and Spy Kids-style kids’ films from Rodriguez like The Adventures Of Shark Boy And Lavagirl and Shorts, pint-sized special agents have been only slightly less ubiquitous on the big screen than their adult counterparts. How are we supposed to miss the Spy Kids franchise when it feels like it ...

Although most would say that director Robert Rodriguez tends to be at his best when catering for an adult audience (taking Sin City and Desperado in preference to Shark Boy & Lava Girl or Spy Kids), his Spy Kids series has shown surprising longevity, churning good, honest, fun entertainment and turning a healthy profit against modest operating budgets.
Spy Kids 4 is his latest offering, with Jessica Alba and Jeremy Piven joining the usual returning cast members and the ubiquitous Danny Trejo. In this latest publicity still, we see Alba in a somewhat peculiar fingerless gloves/black leotard combo and Piven looking for all the world like something out of Dick Tracy or Bugsy Malone. Since the storyline involves a villain bent on stopping time, no doubt Piven’s conspicuous time-piece and anachronistic wardrobe are all very much required.
You can catch our earlier article with a different still of Alba and a plot synopsis right here.

Is it true that your little son Racer came up the idea for Shark Boy And Lava Girl?Yeah, he’s my Frank Miller on this one, I guess. He comes up with ideas that only an 8-year-old boy could come up with. At first, I was just going to draw it as a storybook. Then the studio rang and said they wanted to do another movie in 3D. And I didn’t have any ideas so I just said, “Er, Shark Boy and Lava Girl… in 3D?” And they said it sounded great. I told the studio it was my son’s idea and they’re like,...
