- On December 26, 2010, Teena Marie was found dead in her home by her daughter, Alia Rose Brockert. Teena died early Sunday morning. It was reported that she died from natural causes. She suffered a grand mal seizure a month prior to her death.

- Following her untimely death, she was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. She was cremated and her ashes were given to the family members.
