True Crime is a part of everyday media that the TV series, specials, films, and documentaries all about it have been around forever. But actually, that’s not the case. The format we now see, wasn’t the norm at all in the 80s when Unsolved Mysteries began its iconic run. A weekly series built around cases and interviews with the people who were a part of them, re-enacting the crimes…had never been done before.
But then one day a series came along that would not only showcase True Crime but would also give us ghosts, UFOs, and all points in between. Not only that, but the theme song would cause Ptsd in most kids my age who had the fortune or misfortune to hear it. That series is Unsolved Mysteries, a series so popular that it changed not only pop culture but the way investigations within law enforcement were conducted.

As the Fireflies' famous catchphrase goes: "When you're lost in the darkness, look for the light." And as our not-so-famous catchphrase goes: "When you're waiting patiently for The Last Of Us Season 2, look for the first images of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey's return as Joel and Ellie." Good news – that light has arrived, people. During an Upfront presentation yesterday, Warner Bros. Discovery gave fans their first look at Season 2 of Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin's critically acclaimed game adaptation — and we're already feeling all the feels. You can see the Joel pic above – and here's the Ellie shot:
Now, these pictures don't tell us an awful lot about what's coming in Season 2, but that doesn't make them any less fascinating to look at. Joel's grown-out locks. Ellie's winter hat. His new jacket. Her new shotgun (who — or what — is it aimed at?). Both of them look a bit older now,...

The recently released Sugar, starring Colin Farrell, was a modern rethinking of the noir genre with references to old cinema – and audiences fell in love with it. However, in the sixth episode, fans were treated to such a twist that it seemed that the showrunner had simply left at that moment, leaving ChatGPT to finish writing the plot.
If that unexpected twist ruined the magic of Sugar's noir for you, these five TV shows will restore your faith in the genre.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona star Rebecca Hall was one of the buzziest names to feature on the BBC’s recent 12-strong drama slate and the BAFTA winner can now be seen in first look images playing a teacher in Element Pictures’ The Listeners.
Adapted by the novel’s author Jordan Tannahill, Hall’s character Claire is tormented by a low humming sound that no one else around her can hear. This seemingly innocuous noise gradually upsets the balance of her life, increasing tension between herself and her husband, Paul, and daughter, Ashley. But despite multiple doctors, no obvious source or medical cause can be found.
Scroll down for more pics, including another of Hall and one of Ollie West (Hamnet), who plays student Kyle and can also hear the sound.
Also starring in the series, which was filmed in Greater Manchester, are Prasanna Puwanarajah, Amr Waked (Ramy), Gayle Rankin, Mia Tharia (Phoenix Rise), Franc Ashman, Samuel Edward Cook, Karen Henthorn, Lucy Sheen (Ping Pong) and Ian Mercer.

Last weekend, Pedro Pascal won the fan vote to take the Male TV Star of the Year trophy at the People’s Choice Awards for his role as Joel in HBO’s The Last Of Us. Six days later, he won the vote of his peers to land the SAG Award for Male Actor In a Drama Series, his first major industry recognition.
Having lost out to Succession’s Kieran Culkin at previous awards shows this season, Pascal looked stunned when his name was called.
“This is wrong for a number of reasons,” he said onstage. “I am a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk.” (You can watch his speech above.)
Later in the press room, Pascal revealed he drank tequila and confirmed that he was “genuinely surprised” by the win, which made him tear up with his publicists backstage.

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Season 23, Episode 4 of “Law & Order.”]
Among Sam Waterston’s last words as Jack McCoy was “integrity.”
The film and television actor walked away from “Law & Order” for good Thursday night, February 22, ending his 30-year stint as Dick Wolf’s most recognizable Manhattan D.A. in a mixed bag of an episode. An awkward Central Park swan song (goose song?), Season 23’s “Last Dance” demonstrates not only how much Waterston has changed as a performer — but just how little police procedurals have been able to evolve with socially divided network audiences in recent years.
Yes, Jack’s junkyard dog bravado gave way to a subtler anger in the series’ revival seasons; and he stopped sleeping with all those assistant district attorneys, which certainly helped. But the hero lawyer’s final chapter is chockfull of awkward political posturing that plays as indicative of a genre increasingly uncomfortable with its role in American culture. The...

Saying goodbye to a beloved character is never easy, especially one who has graced our screens for three decades.
The good news is that Law & Order Season 23 Episode 5 didn't end by killing Jack McCoy. That would have been too heartbreaking to bear.
Instead, McCoy left on his own terms, standing up for justice one last time before handing in his resignation. If we had to say goodbye to him, this was how to do it.
I've recently complained that McCoy has been limited to sitting behind a desk and asking Nolan if he can win the case of the hour. But McCoy's swan song changed that.
This time, the roles were reversed. Nolan wanted to plead out Kelton's case, while McCoy wanted accountability for a senseless murder and didn't care who stood in his way.
That was the Jack McCoy I've known and loved since the early 90s. I...

Watch any American cartoons (and/or play some video games) made in the 2000s-2010s and you'll notice some familiar voices across the shows. One voice you're bound to hear is that of John Dimaggio.
Born and raised in New Jersey, with the accent to prove it, the 6'4 Dimaggio has a deep voice that's as imposing as his frame. Don't think that he lacks range, though. He can play lovable heroes (Jake the Dog in "Adventure Time" or Aquaman in "Batman: The Brave and the Bold") and tough guys who are more emotional than they let on (Marcus Fenix in "Gears of War" or the short-tempered humanoid tiger alien Rath in "Ben 10"). He's just as good at playing villains, if not more so due to his baritone. Dimaggio's bad guys range from serious bad news to incompetent comic relief (Dr. Drakken in "Kim Possible").

While we were denied the chance to see Robert Downey Jr. as Perry Mason in the eponymous show he produced (Matthew Rhys ended up taking the role), The Sympathizer, is a different beast entirely. Adapted from Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Sympathizer stars Hoa Xuande as the half-French, half-Vietnamese communist who becomes wrapped up in spying on his own government and military for the CIA. But where do his loyalties truly lie?
Downey Jr. here plays multiple roles, including the spy's handler, while the cast also includes Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Phanxine, Vy Le, Ky Duyen, Kieu Chinh, Duy Nguyen, Alan Trong and Sandra Oh.

Aaron Stanford is returning to the MCU, as it was revealed in the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer released during the Superbowl on Sunday. He is reprising the role of Pyro which he portrayed in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand.
“I’m very excited to be revisiting this role, and couldn’t think of a better place for Pyro’s resurrection than the Deadpool universe,” Standford tells Deadline in a statement.
While details as to the plot of the film have thus far been under wraps, director Shawn Levy told Deadline at last year’s Toronto Film Festival that the goal was for the film to feel “grounded” and “real” — more like “a descendant of Midnight Run, and 48 Hours, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles” than “a descendant of Airplane.”

Poor Things, Oppenheimer and Saltburn won Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) Awards in the categories for fantasy, period and contemporary live action features, respectively, at the 28th Adg Awards, which were handed out Saturday at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Ovation Hollywood.
Poor Things and Oppenheimer are additionally nominated for the Oscar in production design, alongside Barbie, Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon, which were also Adg nominated in their respective categories.
Over the past five years, the winner of the Adg’s period film prize has gone on to win the Oscar for production design twice: In 2020, for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and in 2021, for Mank. During that time, the production design Oscar went to the winner of the fantasy category twice, in 2019, for Black Panther, and 2022, for Dune. Production design Oscar nominees “Barbie,” “Poor Things,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Oppenheimer,” “Napoleon” all competed for the 28th Art Directors Guild Awards February 10 at Ovation Hollywood’s Ray Dolby Ballroom. “Poor Things” prevailed over “Barbie” for fantasy, and is now in the driver’s seat to win the Oscar. Throughout the season, it has been a race between these two big feminist films constructed around rebirth and unconventional world-building.
Meanwhile, “Oppenheimer” took period honors over “Asteroid City,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Maestro,” and “Napoleon.” Contemporary winner “Saltburn,” though, is not in the Oscar running. The animated feature winner was “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”
The TV winners for one-hour period, fantasy, and contemporary were “The Great,” “The Last of Us,” and “Succession.” Movie or limited series went to “Beef,” and the half-hour series winner was “Reservation Dogs.”

“Saltburn,” “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” were among the winners at the 28th Annual Art Director’s Guild Awards which took place in Hollywood on Saturday evening.
Hosted by Max Greenfield, the Adg Awards celebrated outstanding production design in theatrical motion pictures, television, commercials, animated features and music videos.
“Poor Things” production designers Shona Heath and James Price drew visual references ranging from the paintings of French futurist Albert Robida to Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dracula” to build Yorgos Lanthimos’ extraordinary sets.
In “Oppenheimer,” Ruth De Jong built Los Alamos from the ground up. But her most challenging task came when she had to build the Oval Office for the film’s third act. Working with supervising art director, Samantha Englander, the two had floated the idea of finding a pre-existing build of the Oval Office. They join returning directors Peter Hoar, who was Emmy nominated for helming Season 1’s poignant Episode 3, “Long, Long Time,” as well as The Last Of Us co-creators, executive producers and showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann who will once again take on directing duties too. It is unclear whether any of the seven helmers will direct multiple episodes; Season 1 consisted of nine episodes helmed by seven directors.
Mylod won the 2023 drama directing Emmy for the acclaimed Episode 3, “Connor’s Wedding” from Succession’s fourth and final season. Mylod directed four Season 4 episodes,...

It is with great joy and relief that we announce that Ozzy Osbourne is still alive. He’s pretty happy about it, too, but not terribly surprised by his own account. It was more of a shock for the heavy metal icon when one video popped up claiming that he did in fact die.
Although he’s certainly a mainstay in those awful annual celebrity death pools – now 75, Ozzy was recently diagnosed with Parksinon’s and led a hard road of drug and alcohol abuse – the Prince of Darkness says he’s staying put. As he addressed on his family podcast, “I put it on and I died! The thing on YouTube, which goes, ‘Celebrities Who Have Died Today,’ and there’s a picture of me.” For those who didn’t pick up on the nuances, Ozzy reiterated, “I’m not dead…I’m not going any-f*cking-where and I...

“The world ain’t built for guys like us.” So says Colin Farrell’s The Penguin in our first official glimpse at the Max series, which is due to air in 2024. It came as part of Max’s “The One to Watch” teaser trailer, which also offered us glimpses of House of the Dragon Season 2, The Regime (starring Kate Winslet), the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and The Sympathizer, starring Robert Downey Jr.
But, of all the titles, the one with the most buzz is certainly The Penguin. A spin-off of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, this takes place one week after the film and features Farrell’s titular character, Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, trying to fill the void in the underworld Carmine Falcone’s death left behind. Cristin Milioti stars as Sofia Falcone, Carmine’s other daughter (other than Catwoman), plus the great Clancy Brown. While we only got a small taste,...

Plot: Monk returns to solve one last, very personal case involving his beloved stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.
Review: Running for eight years on USA, Monk held the title of the most-watched scripted series in cable history until the debut of The Walking Dead. Wrapping up in 2009, Adrian Monk returned briefly in a Covid-19 short showing the Ocd detective coping during the lockdown. Now, fourteen years after the series finale, Monk returns in his first full-length mystery, Mr. Monk’s Last Case. Reuniting the four main stars and a couple of key supporting players, Mr. Monk’s Last Case follows the detective getting back into the groove as he investigates a murder that hits very close to home. Setting up potential future standalone mystery films led by Tony Shalhoub, this is a decent story that plays more like an extended episode of the series rather than a fully realized movie.

Did someone order more comedy with a side of fries from Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell? In addition to teaching the world about who’s a dude (it turns out we’re all dudes), the dynamic burger-slinging comedic duo is looking to “Super-Size” their recent reunion for Good Burger 2 in more ways than one! Speaking with Variety about getting back behind the counter for the long-awaited sequel Good Burger 2, Thompson says he and Mitchell will “one million percent” continue working together after the delicious follow-up to 1997’s Good Burger.
“It would be only right for us to continue to go explore what Kenan and Kel could have been when we were in our 20s when we left Nickelodeon and decided to try to figure it out, instead of just automatically doing the Abbott and Costello thing,” Thompson says. “Now that we’re older and sharper and wiser and this that and the other,...

Last year, it was announced that Under the Shadow‘s Babak Anvari had signed on to direct a new entry in the Cloverfield franchise. While we wait to hear more about that project, Anvari is busy working on another film: he’s now in production on a psychological thriller called Hallow Road, starring Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Matthew Rhys (Perry Mason).
Scripted by William Gillies, Hallow Road was commissioned and developed by London Film & TV. The story follows two parents who enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter after she caused a tragic car accident.
The film is being produced by Lucan Toh of Two & Two Pictures with Ian Henry of London Film & TV and Richard Bolger of Hail Mary Pictures. Financing is being provided by XYZ Films and Screen Ireland. Filming is taking place in Ireland and Prague.

Up next from Babak Anvari is a psychological thriller titled Hallow Road, and Deadline reports today that Rosamund Pike (Saltburn) will star.
Matthew Rhys (Perry Mason) is also on board for this one.
“The film watches as two parents enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter after she caused a tragic car accident.”
Deadline notes, “Production is taking place in Ireland and Prague, with Lucan Toh of Two & Two Pictures and Ian Henry of London Film & TV producing. XYZ Films is the financier.”
William Gillies wrote the screenplay for Hallow Road.
Anvari said in a statement, “I treasure the opportunity to collaborate with Rosamund and Matthew, two hugely talented actors who I’ve long admired, on Hallow Road. I believe we can create something emotionally intense, and charged with uncanny terror, that nevertheless taps into something relatable to all families.
