[[tmz:video id="0_dn4kctvj"]] Justin Bieber came down with a severe case of amnesia when it came to Selena Gomez, 'cause he couldn't remember a damn thing about her ... or their breakfast. Paps got Bieber in WeHo Sunday after he came face-to-face again with Selena earlier in the day -- and when asked if he and his ex were getting back together ... Justin basically hit back with the who, what, where and No Way routine, much to the paps' amusement.

Happy Lucky Golden Tofu Panda Dragon Good Time Fun Fun Show 20th New York International Fringe Festival Drom, NYC August 21 & 22, 2016
"Welcome to the dress rehearsal/tech rehearsal/first performance of Happy Lucky Golden Tofu Panda Dragon Good Time Fun Fun Show!" says Kate Rigg of her bracingly funny performance platter of song, stand-up and tragicomic sketches. What follows is raw in the best senses of the word. Even the rough patches -- waiting for "the white people" to wrestle with skittish technology; a wardrobe malfunction that provokes a sweet, awkward encounter with an angelic staffer at the show’s East Village venue, then gets hilariously incorporated into a skit -- show off Rigg's quicksilver wit and willingness to take her captivated audiences anywhere.

Chicago – If there ever was a quintessential “Dad” in movies of the last generation, it would have to be Paul Dooley. The comedian and character actor is best known for portraying the patriarch in “Breaking Away” (1979) and “Sixteen Candles” (1984), but was also in director’s Robert Altman’s ‘ensemble’ and has had a stellar career.
The former “Paul Brown” was born in West Virginia, and studied acting at West Virginia University, before heading to New York City and a new career as Paul Dooley. He did stage work, stand-up comedy and the New York City version of The Second City (story below), before getting his big break in the original stage version of “The Odd Couple” in 1965, directed by the legendary Mike Nichols. While working the stage, he appeared in a number of commercials, eventually moving to Los Angeles to “be where the action is.”

The classic TV show The Prisoner, that starred Patrick McGoohan, is being eyed up as a feature project for Ridley Scott...
"Questions are a burden to others, answers are a burden for oneself"
While I never asked the question about a movie version of The Prisoner, I got an answer with the news that Ridley Scott is looking to direct an adaptation of the classic TV series.
This one has apparently been floating around at Universal for a while, with screenplay drafts having being written by by Christopher McQuarrie (Edge Of Tomorrow) and William Monahan (The Departed).
It's possible this could be Scott's next movie after Alien: Covenant, but the negotiations on this are still far too early. There is, after all, the small matter of further Alien/Prometheus sequels too, that Scott intends to direct himself.

Guardian has a piece on the 7 best financial films for the release of The Big Short. Confession: I'm always surprised when internet lists remember that films existed before 1990. And this list has 4 of them [gasp]
Chud Have you heard Radiohead's Spectre theme. The studio went with Sam Smith instead for the latest Bond
Variety Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me is coming your way (and filming already). Given the massive success of Straight Outta Compton expect more hiphop/rap biopics
Gothamist Oooh. AMC Village 7 has reopened in Manhattan with spiffy new seats and bathrooms. I haven't been there in years but will have to return now. Now if only Film Forum and Village East would get renovations and they'd burn down the Angelika, Cinema Village, and Lincoln Plaza and build new non-tiny, non-crappy, subwayrumble-free arthouse theaters somewhere else... wouldn't that be swell?!

Happy 77th birthday to one of our favorite actors, Christopher Lloyd!
The actor, who's played some of filmdom's most beloved characters, including Doc Brown in "Back to the Future," Professor Plum in "Clue," and Uncle Fester in the "Addams Family" films, was born on October 22, 1938 in Stamford, Conn.
Partly because of his height, and partly because of his manic intensity and commitment to even the wildest characters, he's portrayed a series of eccentrics, from mad scientists to aliens; had an impressive, award-winning theater career; and will always be remembered as Reverend Jim on "Taxi."
In honor of his 77th birthday, we've come up with 75 reasons why he's so awesome.
1. He's played a Klingon, a cartoon, the Wizard of Oz, an angel, a leper, and a geriatric vampire.
2. He stands an impressive 6'1."
3. Because he's so tall, he had to hunch over to appear in the same frame with "Back to the Future...

Harry Potter stars including Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Tom Felton, Warwick Davies and Bonnie Wright last night (June 18) attended the red carpet launch of a major new Harry Potter attraction at Universal Orlando.
The multi-million dollar expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter doubles the size of the tourist attraction, which originally opened in 2010. It will officially open to the public on Tuesday, July 8.
Visitors can now experience the world of the popular book and movie series in more painstaking detail than ever before, thanks to the impressive rendering of magical locations including Diagon Alley, Gringotts Bank and the Leaky Cauldron pub.
A new Hogwarts Express attraction allows fans with passes to both parks to ride the iconic locomotive from the new Universal Studios attraction to the existing Hogsmeade Village in Universal's Islands of Adventure.

So the phone rings, and I answer it, and it's Mel Brooks. That's an actual thing that happened. That's now something I can say. And even better, the 40 minute conversation that followed me answering the phone is one of my favorites in recent memory. How often do you get to talk to a comedy legend about one of the pinnacle moments of not only their career, but of film comedy in general? I was told I'd have about 15 minutes originally. Time was tight. And if you get offered 15 minutes to talk to Mel Brooks about "Blazing Saddles," you take it, right? We ended up having a really fun back and forth about that film, about films he's produced, about his partnership with Gene Wilder, and about the ways Hollywood failed the great Richard Pryor. The only reason we wrapped it up is because we had to, and it would have...

Yusef Lateef, who died on Monday after a bout with prostate cancer, was a devout Muslim who did not like his music to be called jazz because of the supposed indecent origins and connotations of the word (although those origins are still debated). He preferred the self-coined phrase "autophysiopsychic music." Furthermore, his music encompassed an impressively broad range of styles, and the only Grammy he won was in the New Age category -- for a recording of a symphony. Think about those things amid the flood of Lateef obituaries with "jazz" in the headline.
That said, certainly Lateef's own musical origins indisputably revolved around jazz. Growing up in Detroit, a highly fertile musical environment in the 1930s and beyond, Lateef got his first instrument, an $80 Martin alto sax, at age 18. Within a year he was on the road with the 13 Spirits of Swing (arrangements by Milt Buckner).

The question posed in the series premiere of Smash — who will play the role of Marilyn Monroe in the fictional Broadway musical Bombshell? — was finally and definitively answered tonight in Episode 7 of Season 2, the aptly named “Musical Chairs.”
If the title wasn’t already a dead giveaway, Smash has been telegraphing changes to its troika of central musicals — Bombshell, The Hit List and Liaisons — for several weeks now, so it’s not as though anything felt particularly explosive. But along the way there were some laughs (intentional and otherwise), some drama, some suspension of disbelief and a couple of really stilted line readings.

"Boardwalk Empire" delivered big tonight, in a complex episode full of high-stakes encounters, power plays, and the ghost of Jimmy Darmody. The "new year with new rules" isn't sitting well with Nucky Thompson -- and he's dealing with inner turmoil over the actions he took to secure his present position.
In the opening scene's dream sequence, the operator mentions Jimmy Darmody's (Michael Pitt) final words to Nucky, when she says that "the only thing to worry about is when you run out of company." The dream, his hallucinations and the flashback of Jimmy all indicate Thompson's remorse for his murder -- and that he misses his protege-turned-adversary ("reminiscing, I guess... the old days").
Nuck is accustomed to the traditional order of his gangster enterprise -- with an occasional bump in the road -- and Gyp Rosetti's erratic behavior is a direct affront to business as usual. So while Thompson...

Every year when Comic-Con invades San Diego, the geek circus spreads far beyond the Convention Center into San Diego’s Gaslamp District. That’s more true than ever this year, with major companies and fan groups hosting events outside of the Convention. Best of all, none of these events require a Comic-Con badge — which means there’s plenty to do even if you didn’t sign up for a badge when they went on sale five years ago (give or take.) Here’s a list of things to do in San Diego when the walls start closing in:

Sacha Baron Cohen brings his trademark ridicu-shock humor to his new film "The Dictator," but it may be his beard that steals the show.
He plays Admiral General Aladeen, deposed dictator of the (fictional) Republic of Wadiya, who flees to the U.S. when his country converts to democracy. As a dictator, he's used to ruling with an iron fist, an incorrigible sense of righteous cruelty, and a thick, bushy beard that could house several terrified baby sparrows.
Aladeen may feel like a fish out of water in New York City, but he'd feel right at home among Hollywood's most magnificent beards of all time. Here's our ode to the greatest facial hair in movies, in 15 parts.

As John le Carré might have written it – how things would have turned out if David Cameron had agreed to join the Kgb
✒It was startling to learn that David Cameron had been approached, in his youth, by Kgb officers who hoped to recruit him to the Soviet cause. Naturally he said no. But the opening this weekend of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy made me – and no doubt many other people – wonder how things might have turned out if he had agreed.
"Smiley sighed. He always found the smell of Templegate's Sobranie cigarettes irksome. 'It could go to the very top, sir,' Templegate said, 'the very top.' He brandished a manila file proudly like, reflected Smiley improbably, a hen laying an egg.
"'Bogerov told us in his debriefing. The code name is "Prophylactic". I don't know if that is a clue.'

Rebecca Hall in The Awakening I may sound like a spoiled brat when I say this, but the fact neither Carnage or Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy were part of this morning's Toronto Film Festival announcement sort of bums me out. However, there are other films that were added that do make my ears perk up, none more so than the addition of Whit Stillman's Damsels in Distress as well as a couple of films I didn't expect and some I had never heard of.
To begin, the closing night film which I guess will serves as something of a Tinker, Tailor replacement, David Hare's (screenwriter of The Hours and The Reader) Page Eight starring Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Michael Gambon, Ralph Fiennes and Judy Davis. The film tells the story of Johnny Worricker (Nighy), an MI5 agent who has learned to keep his observational skills perpetually operational. However,...

After three separate announcements (here, here and here), the Toronto International Film Festival has announced the final line-up for their Galas and Special Presentations, as well as a few other categories. When it comes to pop culture, Ukrainians have long been overlooked in terms of hotness — primarily because any Ukrainians who walked around wearing less than a parka died instantly of hypothermia. Fortunately for us, the 21st century marks the rise of hot young Ukrainian celebs as more and more sexy Slavs have been discovered by Hollywood and the world.
In the words of the Ukrainian passenger on that infamous Seinfeld episode, “You not say Ukraine is weak!” With that in mind, we present you with a list of fourteen sexy Slavs who could keep anyone warm on those cold Siberian nights.
Maksim Chmerkovsky (aka Maks)

The new comedy "Take Me Home Tonight" celebrates the 1980s and all its excesses, from Mercedes-worship to Frankie Goes To Hollywood telling us all to relax.
The '80s was a time of rampant materialism and mohawks, and the only way people got through it -- like WWII -- was with laughter.
In honor of Topher Grace's nostalgic comedy, we're celebrating the 25 most-uniquely only-in-the-80's comedies, the ones where the hair was froofy, Eddie Murphy still brought the funny, and the geek inherited the Earth.
25. 'The Naked Gun' (1988)
The same team that made "Airplane!" decided to bring their anarchic brand of humor to the small screen with "Police Squad" (In Color), but the satire of TV cop shows only lasted a measly six episodes. After the show gained a cult following, the trio decided to resurrect Leslie Nielsen's accident-prone Lieutenant Frank Drebin to surprising success and a comedic trilogy,...

Nearly five years after purchasing the Jupiter Island, Fl, property, Tiger Woods' newly remodeled house is ready for occupancy. Besides having enough rooms for each of his one-time mistresses, the 12-acre estate has a four-hole golf course, 100-ft.-long swimming pool, diving pool, spa, 100-ft. field and track area, tennis and basketball courts, a pair of boat docks, and a reflecting pond. Local real estate agent Jeff Lichtenstein said Woods has created a "mini Olympic Village." Either that or the world's ultimate bachelor pad.

"If you have a lot of what people want and can't get, then you can supply the demand and shovel in the dough." Those words -- spoken by Charles "Lucky" Luciano, considered the father of modern organized crime (a real-life Godfather, if you will) -- perfectly sum up the story of HBO's ambitious new drama, 'Boardwalk Empire,' which premieres Sun., Sept. 19 at 9Pm Et.
Actor Vincent Piazza, who plays Lucky Luciano, matched the show's attention to detail with in-depth research on his character. He even hung out in at De Robertis Pasticceria in Manhattan's East Village, a cafe that Luciano himself once frequented.
Piazza invited TV Squad to the former gangster haunt to talk about Luciano's legend, the historical precision of 'Boardwalk Empire and working with Martin Scorsese (who produces and directed the pilot).

What is the state of musical theater today? Ask eight people and you'll likely get eight different answers: There are too many revivals. Jukebox musicals are choking the form. More diversity among writers is needed. Ticket prices are too high. The New York Times has too much power. The Internet is destroying standards. The audience is dying out. A new audience is emerging thanks to "Glee."To get an idea of the core health of musical theater, I spoke with eight professionals, who work with new musicals and new writers, about where shows come from, how they're developed, and the strengths and weaknesses of a very ad hoc system. It Startson the PageObviously, everything begins with the writers. We are blessed with an abundance of successful composers, lyricists, and book writers today—including Stephen Schwartz, William Finn, Terrence McNally, Jeanine Tesori, Thomas Meehan, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, John Weidman,...

Eons ago, the world was covered in darkness. God had not yet created heaven. Mad Doctor Gordo had not yet created hell. George Washington was still carving America out of Pangaea, using his all-powerful hammer and sickle. Into this shapeless void came a Talking Demon from beyond the beyondest beyond. This demon annoyed the crap out of everyone. No matter how hard you tried, you just could not shut it up. The citizens of Earth (mostly vampires and robo-dinosaurs – this was about 5 million Bce, long before the dawn of man) banded together to imprison this utterly annoying Talking Demon in the Negative Zone.

Michael trotted off to McM Expo in London last weekend for us - and here's what he discovered...
I am standing in a crowd of people. Like in an overcrowded train, my hands are firmly rooted in my pockets, and my eyes stare forward. Unlike a typical commute, however, this is due to the makeup of the crowd, consisting mostly of exposed, and underage, flesh, enveloped in the tenuous clothing of cosplay.
"Typical Expo," a voice moans to my rear, ostensibly passing judgement on the chaotic event organisation, since we are all wedged into space, queuing for registration for a world record attempt for the largest Nintendo DS party, but the chap, conveniently dressed as Professor Oak from Pokemon, couldn't have been more on-the-nose. For Expo offers a platform where the atypical is commonplace.

Gamers at the London McM Expo have smashed the Guinness World Record for the Largest Handheld Game Console Party, show organisers have announced.
More than 580 people gathered at Excel on Saturday May 29 with their Nintendo DS handheld consoles to break the previous record of 381 people held by Australia.
Damian Field, Guinness World Records' Official Adjudicator, said: "It is a tremendous achievement for the McM Expo to reach a number of 586, smashing the existing world record of 381. It's rare for a UK mass participation to reach over 500."
The London McM Expo is now the proud holder of two world records, having previously clinched the title of The Largest Gathering of People in Costumes From a Video Game.
Last weekend's London McM Expo was the most successful in the show's history with more than 41,000 visitors attending over the two days.

I am a huge fan of Jeffrey Blitz, Spellbound and Rocket Science are both really great films and he is back with another documentary with Lucky. I have always wondered what happens to people after they win the lottery. You hear the horror stories about not paying taxes and all that business but Ive always wanted to delve in deeper than that. Apparently Jeffrey Blitz has been sneaking into my thoughts and made this documentary just for me…ok maybe not just for me, but I am very excited on the journey we will inevitably go on with Lucky.
Official Synopsis:
Dreaming of winning the lottery is as American as apple pie. Millions of Americans spend billions of dollars each year hoping to come up a winner. But what happens to the lucky few who actually pull a winning ticket?
Lucky crisscrosses the country, examining a handful of past lottery...

The Alamo Guide
for December 10th, 2009 If you’re at the S. Lamar theater this weekend, and you see a bunch of groggy ass, smelly, crazy-looking people wandering out of the theater around noon on Sunday, don’t worry. They won’t hurt you, they will have just sat through a full 24 hours plus of movies and they’ll be in desperate need of sleep. I’ll be one of them. It’ll be awesomely exhausting! Aside from that, if you got tickets already (if not, toooo bad), you can see the folks from Broken Lizard with their newest film The Slammin’ Salmon, but the most important thing that you should do is Go See Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans!!! Yes, the name is long, and the trailer makes it look kind of silly, but the hype over at Alamo Headquarters is ridiculous and the few people in...

Danny Miller has vowed to support Emmerdale bosses if they decide to create a long-term gay romance for his character Aaron Livesy. Village bad boy Aaron will begin to question his sexuality next week after he tries to kiss best friend Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) following a car accident. Miller has now confirmed that he would be happy to have a male love interest on screen if the show's team want to take Aaron's surprise plotline in that direction. Speaking to Digital Spy, he commented: "I think for them to do that, it would take a lot of time and a lot of effort to make the viewers believe it. "If they did that, I wouldn't have a problem with it because I think I'd know the right way to (more)...

Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon spent their Friday hard at work on Sex and the City 2 in NYC. Lucky for Sjp, production on the film is taking place near her West Village home - making her commute pretty easy as a working mom. Her daughters Marion and Tabitha even made an appearance on Sunday, as the Summer headline babies took a walk with their nanny around the neighborhood. Sjp was back in a few old wardrobe favorites as she filmed, including the newsprint dress she wore during the show's run on HBO. When she wasn't alongside Cynthia, Sarah Jessica was joined on set by Chris Noth. Director Michael Patrick King and stylist Patricia Field were also on set, as the whole Satc gang gets back together. The proud papa speaks: Leaving the stage door late Tuesday night, after his performance in Broadway's The Philanthropist, Matthew Broderick told People about the birth of his and Sarah Jessica Parker's twins, "I'm very happy. I don't know what else to say." He added, "I've seen them already. I just got back" from Ohio, where the girls were born Monday. The show's Steven Weber also told People that Broderick's "very pleased. He's happy … and he's looking forward to having them home."Nursery ReadyThough the twins arrived earlier than their mid-summer due date, their parents were well prepared for their arrival.

It seems that each and every year is the best yet in gaming, but 2008 could see such a hyperbole come to fruition. It'll go down as a year where both new iterations of popular franchises and brand spanking new properties made a tsunami-sized splash, showering us all in a torrent of digitised brilliance. And unlike previous years, the standard has been sky high across the board, where any of our top ten choices could have easily been number one. November was the busiest month, with seven of our list released, and it'll probably take most people until late next year to fully get round to them. Digital Spy's gaming team scaled each blockbuster release into a final aggregated summary, discussed the final placements, then polished them off for your pleasure. We give honourable mentions to Super Smash Bros Brawl, Professor Layton And The Curious Village, Mirror's (more)...

I'm not sure, if I had a movie, I'd want it to come out right in between a Will Smith movie and The Dark Knight. Call me crazy. But three big name films are gunning for your wallets this weekend, and only one of them will have any significant impact. Surprisingly, it's not the 3-D flick or the Eddie Murphy comedy.
Instead, look for Hellboy II: The Golden Army to narrowly defeat Hancock this weekend. The first Hellboy made $23 million in its debut four years back, and I don't think the new one will double that total, but the overall box office take for the sequel should be substantially higher. There's little doubt that the first film has gained fans over the years and the higher profile of director Guillermo del Toro is bound to bring in some bucks.
