“We’re gonna kiss somebody goodbye. Real goodbye,” said a menacing Gene Simmons at the top of this week’s Dancing With the Stars results recap. And as the director cut to a flashback from backstage Monday night — Melissa Gilbert, konked out on a stretcher, oxygen mask over her face, and Simmons lurking in full Kiss regalia in a nearby corner — I worried momentatily if dude meant real real goodbye.
Fret not: Although the Little House on the Prairie star suffered a mild concussion during the Rock Week performance show, and couldn’t attend the results telecast, she will nevertheless live to traverse another ballroom.

Early Tuesday afternoon, Tom Bergeron tweeted “Online voting has shifted all night. This one will make your jaws drop. DWTS Results @ 9/8 C on ABC.”
A few hours later, his “Dancing with the Stars” co-host, Brooke Burke Charvet, said something similar. “Don’t miss 2night’s result show #DWTS. All I can say is Holy Rock-n-Rolly!!! Ong!”
But after all the hype, were Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy really a surprise elimination?

Update: Annie’s recap is live.
Spoiler Alert: Surprising elimination tonight, rock stars. After a results show featuring performances by Kiss (it’s Heavy Metal, I mean Rock Week!) and Gotan Project, the couple shimmying out of the ballroom tonight is….
Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy.
Roshon Fagan and Chelsie Hightower joined Sherri and Val in the bottom two.
As for that bottom two Dance Duel the judges teased last week, it’ll start up next Tuesday. Just as well, because the judges would have selected Roshon to stay over Sherri anyway.
Stay tuned for my full recap later on.
