An old friend returned and swore he had changed.
When Tom Thornton returned on When Calls the Heart Season 11 Episode 7, he did so partly to visit his brother Jack's gravesite and partly to see Elizabeth.
He hadn't planned to scout the Hope Valley choir for an upcoming festival, but it was challenging to say no when several women ambushed him.
Being the younger brother, it was hard for Tom to return and hear what a legend Jack was and know so many of these people remembered his screw-ups from when he was younger.
That's why Tom wanted to prove himself with his new job and show that he could succeed working for someone famous like Jb Sweeney.
While Elizabeth wanted to believe in Tom, part of her was wary of getting the choir involved in one of his schemes, so she never brought it up.
However, two excited teenagers did,...

A desolate planet at war for no apparent reason. Algorithms that decide who lives or dies. Landmines that turn their victims into weapons of mass destruction.
Doctor Who Season 1 Episode 3 took a decidedly darker tone, putting to rest fears that the series had become childish, lighthearted fare after Disney+ agreed to stream it worldwide.
This story had some Twilight Zone-like elements, which was unsurprising considering that it was written by Steven Moffat, known for writing scarier, more horror-inspired content than other Doctor Who writers. Still, did he set up a brilliant story only to mess up the ending?
A Planet at War With... Who Exactly?
I figured out the twist that the inhabitants were at war for no reason fairly early on.
More fog. Maybe the Kastorians are made of fog. That's why we never see them.
Carson Permalink: More fog. Maybe the Kastorians are made of fog. That's why we never see them.

Throughout the six-episode run of Netflix’s Everybody’s in L.A., John Mulaney’s comedian guests kept trying to find ways to describe the live talk show’s chaotic-bordering-on-surreal atmosphere. “I feel like this entire show is a Banksy!” a confused Jon Stewart suggested. The premise of Sherwood Schwartz's 1964 sitcom "Gilligan's Island" is succinctly laid out in its indelible theme song, written by Schwartz and George Wyle. The S.S. Minnow, helmed by Captain G. Jonas Grumby (Alan Hale) and his first officer Gilligan (Bob Denver) took on five passengers for a three-hour boat tour of Hawai'i. The ship hit some bad weather, got lost at sea, and washed up on an uncharted island somewhere in the Pacific. Now the two sailors, along with a millionaire (Jim Backus), his wife (Natalie Schafer), a movie star (Tina Louise), a professor (Russel Johnson), and a lottery-winning tourist (Dawn Wells), have to learn to survive, all to comedic effect.
"Gilligan's Island" has no themes of actual survival, instead rolling with its slapstick elements; the series clearly takes place in a cartoon reality. As such, the characters play as broad archetypes, mugging and screaming in an unrealistic fashion.

Carol Burnett reminisced about her misadventures in late-night television during the legendary comedian’s visit Tuesday to The Late Show.
Speaking to host Stephen Colbert, Burnett recalled a visit to Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show where she intentionally — and unbeknownst to Carson — pretended to be “the world’s worst guest,” answering his many questions with simply “yes” or “no.”
Burnett also appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show seven times, but one visit especially stood out: When she was a guest alongside Elvis Presley. “They put me on first… Nobody wanted to see me.

Still, with everything else that has happened around him, could he decide to shift his revenge plans off Nina, and refocus them on Carly?

Plot: A live television broadcast in 1977 goes horribly wrong, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms.
Review: I’ve always had a fondness for late-night talk shows and their host. While I’m more of a Letterman and Conan guy, the shadow of Carson looms largely over anyone in that space. So the concept of Late Night With The Devil immediately appeals to me. They would always have a slew of guests, ranging in their celebrity status, all with the purpose of popping a rating. But what if one of those guests were actually able to prove the existence of the supernatural? The possibilities are endless.
Following the night that a struggling late-night show was able to prove the existence of a supernatural presence (or were they?), Late Night With The Devil is like a slow descent into Hell. I always love a horror film that brings you on...

Being an avid fan of “old school” horror, I try to keep an open mind to the newer films, even the “sub-genres”. One of those is the “found footage” chiller that probably established itself with its biggest hit The Blair Witch Project. It opened the floodgates for jittery, shakey phony home video slightly “tweaked” via software trickery. The multiplexes are so bombarded that I almost dread a new one. Oh, but an Aussie filmmaking duo has come up with a new “twist’ that keys right into another bit of nostalgia: classic TV not from the “golden age’ of the 50s, but the often “schlocky” stuff of the 70s. Plus it’s not from daytime or prime time (8 to 11 Pm Est). I mean what kid 47 years ago wouldn’t try to sneak downstairs to the massive 19-inch console TV, sit close to the screen so you can keep the volume low...

Opening in theaters today, a new film set in the world late-night television answers the burning question: Could a late-night show beat Johnny Carson in the ratings if it its surprise guest turned out to be Satan?
Late Night with The Devil is an independent film, as many horror movies are, made in Australia, with mostly unknown Australian actors; but its look and many of its characters will be familiar to anyone in America who has watched late-night TV, especially during the Carson-dominant era of the 1970’s.
This is far from the first time the genre of late night has inspired fictionalized versions of itself in the movies or in other quarters of television. There are many memorable entries in this subsection of entertainment, headed in TV certainly by one of the greatest comedies of all time, The Larry Sanders Show, and in films by Martin Scorsese’s most underrated movie,...

The Legend of Lake Hollow is the first feature from director Chris Hollo. If you’re into country music, his name may be familiar to you as the official photographer for The Grand Ole Opry, a position he’s held since 2000. However, that has little in common with this film which opens with Mark and Carson arriving at the lakeside cabin they’ve rented. They’re barely in the door when they start checking out pictures from the property’s trail cams, and see something with a wicked set of claws.
Before they can act on that, Mark’s brother Dan arrives with his fiancé Shay and her friend Laurie. It’s not long before they’re hearing strange noises from the woods and finding more odd pictures captured by the trail cams.

The last scandalous reveal in Ryan Murphy’s docudrama “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” was far more surprising than any of the gossip-filled tales penned by Truman Capote (played by Tom Hollander). The final twist came 32 years after his death when a longtime confidant, Joanne Carson (played in the drama by Molly Ringwald), decided to auction off the writer’s remains to the highest bidder.
In the finale, the last moments of Capote’s life show him floating in and out of consciousness. Excommunicated from New York, after penning several stories exposing his socialite friends’ darkest secrets, and banished to Los Angeles, Capote seeks refuge in the home of Carson. And it is in that room that Capote takes his last breaths, asking for his mother and “beautiful babe,” aka Barbara Paley (played by Naomi Watts).

Plot: 1908. Chief (Mario Van Peebles) returns from years of hiding in Mexico to claim stolen reparations gold hidden in the hills of Montana but is chased by Angel (William Mapother), whose rationale to the gold leaves a trail of dead bodies.
Review: Mario Van Peebles is in the enviable position of being a writer, director and actor who can make the kinds of movies he wants with the people he wants. He was able to gain recognition on his own merit, outside of his father’s work, as he appeared in films like Heartbreak Ridge with Clint Eastwood, Ali with Will Smith, as well as cult classics like Gunmen which co-stars Christopher Lambert. He would work with him again in Lambert’s franchise sequel, Highlander: The Final Dimension. Plus, Van Peebles would gain acclaim as a director with the films he’s pulled double duty on — such titles as New Jack City...

Savannah Guthrie may have been cut from a popular television gig, but that hasn’t slowed down her success!
Along with appearing on NBC’s morning program, Today, Savannah is also a best-selling author.
Monsters and Critics reported that she’d recently released her newest book, Mostly What God Does, and warned fans of frauds and scammers.
During a recent Today episode, she recalled how she had been in consideration for a special role.
Also up for a role alongside her in the prominent show was her co-anchor, Hoda Kotb.
However, according to their Today co-star, Carson Daly, she and Hoda were not chosen for the final footage.

Blake Shelton is known for his country music and Oklahoma ranch, and he has more fans than ever, thanks to his relationship with Gwen Stefani and longstanding stint on The Voice. Shelton was a fan-favorite coach on the show, and he developed a funny and charming relationship with the host, Carson Daly. In 2024, Shelton posted his first farming video of the season — and Daly didn’t hesitate to make fun of him.
Blake Shelton posted a clip showing him farming in Oklahoma
Blake Shelton isn’t just a country musician. While he’s known for crooning on stage, he has a farm in Oklahoma to keep up with when he’s not touring. Shelton loves to show fans his farming life on social media. On Feb. 25, 2024, he posted a clip of him riding his brand-new Kubota tractor through his property.

If Sergio Leone had ever signed on to make one of those ‘70s Blaxploitation oaters that once provided steady employment for Fred Williamson, it likely would have looked and sounded much like “Outlaw Posse,” a wildly uneven but cumulatively entertaining shoot-‘em-up that finds Mario Van Peebles doing triple duty as director, screenwriter and star. Quadruple duty, actually, if you count his credit as an executive producer.
“Outlaw Posse” has nothing to do with Van Peebles’ previous entry in this genre, 1993’s wild and woolly “Posse,” which suggests the multitasking filmmaker is tipping his Stetson to the multitude of ‘60s Spaghetti Westerns that, ahem, borrowed titles and eponymous characters from better known yet totally unrelated horse operas. But, then again, maybe not. Indeed, the film will probably be enjoyed most by folks not given to undue consideration of such trifling matters as lineage, logic and arrant anachronisms.

Richard Lewis, the wild, eccentric, ultra-neurotic stand-up comedian and comic actor who most recently served as a semi-regular alongside Larry David on “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is dead. He was 76. Lewis suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday night less than a year after announcing in April 2023 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and was retiring from performing stand-up comedy. Lewis’ death was confirmed by his publicist Jeff Abraham, who noted, “His wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for the love, friendship and support and asks everyone for privacy at this time.”
He appeared this month on the 12th and final season of “Curb” after begging off of the show in its 11th season while recovering from a series of surgeries. But he wound up shooting a scene in an episode that year, anyway.

Richard Lewis, one of the most influential stand-up comedians of his era and Larry David's hilariously neurotic best friend on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," has died at the age of 76. The official cause of death was listed as a heart attack.
Lewis belonged to a class of comedians who turned joke-telling into a confessional art form. His contemporaries were Richard Belzer, Elayne Boosler, Robert Klein, and Jerry Seinfeld. Lewis got belly laughs out of failed relationships, depression, anxiety, and addiction. He was reliably, identifiably miserable, which was a balm for anyone in his audience who happened to be struggling because, no matter how awful his life seemed to be, he was always back on stage the next night or bantering with David Letterman a week month later after recounting his latest crisis.
He was a neurotic's neurotic, and, therefore, an essential part of our lives. If he could laugh off life's absurd tortures,...

Jackie Loughery, who parlayed a victory in the first Miss USA pageant into an acting career that included a prominent role opposite future husband Jack Webb in the 1957 military drama The D.I., has died. She was 93.
Loughery died Friday in Los Angeles, Webb biographer Dan Moyer told The Hollywood Reporter. “She was like a mother to me and called me her kid,” he said.
The Brooklyn native also served as Johnny Carson’s assistant on a game show and appeared in the Western comedy Pardners (1956), starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis; the melodrama Eighteen and Anxious (1957), starring William Campbell; and the political drama A Public Affair (1962), starring Edward Binns.
And for television, Loughery portrayed the niece of the title character (Edgar Buchanan) on the 1955-56 syndicated Western series Judge Roy Bean.

Sia is a huge fan of Survivor and loves celebrating her favorite players.
The singer of The Greatest, Cheap Thrills, and Elastic Heart also awards cash prizes to players she enjoys on the show.
Following the Survivor 45 season, Sia gave out three cash prizes to cast members. Rewarding players is something she loves doing. It also leads to more than just the winner being recognized.
Some players who have received the Survivor Sia Award include Aurora McCreary from Edge of Extinction, Elaine Stott from Island of the Idols, and Owen Knight from Survivor 43 (in Fiji).
Fans routinely debate which players will or should receive Sia’s admiration in a given season.
Katurah Topps received $100,000 from Sia after appearing on Survivor 45.
Kaleb Gebrewold and Jake O’Kane each received $15,000 from Sia after Survivor 45.

As the 50th anniversary of Woodstock approached, in 2019, I set out to find Melanie, the folk singer who shot to prominence in the late 1960s. I was curious to know how someone once so famous — known so widely that a first name alone would do — could now be so, well, not famous? Watching an early appearance of Melanie on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson only left me more intrigued about her ambivalent relationship toward fame: How could the same person be so confident and charismatic behind a guitar, but so diffident and uncomfortable chatting with Carson? I reached her by phone in Nashville, where she graciously reminisced on her Fellini-esque beginnings in Europe, and the out-of-body experience that changed everything for her: her solo performance on the first day of the Woodstock music festival, August 15, 1969. “I thought this is the end of my life.” In fact, it was just the beginning.

Daly, Shelton, Stefani, and John Legend spoke on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show in November 2019, and Shelton and Stefani’s relationship came up. Jimmy Kimmel has been announced as the host of the 96th Academy Awards, marking the fourth time in eight years that he will take the Oscars stage.
In a statement, Jimmy Kimmel said of his upcoming Academy Awards gig, “I always dreamed of hosting the Oscars exactly four times.” This number puts him in the company of Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon, although Lemmon only hosted by himself twice. And while Kimmel does say – at least jokingly – that he’ll stop at four, one more would tie him with Johnny Carson. Interestingly, he has hosted the Primetime Emmys three times, also just one under Carson. This will be Kimmel’s second back-to-back go at the job.
