The Beatles were a group of four, but they required many more people behind the scenes to support them. Many, like their longtime producer George Martin, proved to be excellent connections for the band, helping them improve their music. Others were not as beneficial for the band. According to Ron Kass, the former president of Apple Records, the band trusted many people they should not have.
Those who knew The Beatles said they were not good judges of character
For much of The Beatles’ time as a band, they relied on their manager, Brian Epstein. He had concerns about their judgment when it came to other people.
“And as Brian once said, the boys were very bad judges of character,” press officer Derek Taylor said in the book All You Need Is Love: The Beatles in Their Own Words by Peter Brown and Steven Gaines.

For nearly a decade, The Beatles were the biggest band on the planet. They had fans across the globe and brought in immense amounts of money. According to one employee, though, the band never paid overly extravagant salaries. He shared what life was like for him after the band broke up.
A Beatles employee said the band never paid very well
Peter Brown worked as a personal assistant to Beatles manager Brian Epstein and, after Epstein’s death, took on many of his former responsibilities. This was a major position, but Brown claimed he wasn’t entirely satisfied with his salary during his Beatles years.
“No, I wasn’t [well-off financially when the band broke up],” he told Rolling Stone. “I was on a very good salary and had a lot of perks, but I didn’t make a fortune. The Beatles never paid anyone that well. I made much more money after leaving them. They thought in an old-fashioned,...

The second episode of the newly relaunched Doctor Who is a haunting, contemplative story about what might happen if the world was robbed of its love of music. Like all good Who sci-fi premises, “The Devil’s Chord” takes something that is a given about human nature, and suggests our experience of life might be totally different without that thing. Just like “Blink” made us worry about trying to control our inherent reflex to bat our eyes, “The Devil’s Chord” makes us worried about how depressing and dystopian things would become without being able to hear a tune.
The episode also features a bootleg version of The Beatles, which should be a slam-dunk for Doctor Who, but isn’t. Instead, in creating a timey-wimey story about the death of music in a bizarro timeline, Who makes some blunders about why The Beatles became The Beatles.

There's still a lot of buzz surrounding Richard Gadd's Netflix miniseries Baby Reindeer. The comedian and screenwriter translated the personal traumatic experience of a stalking victim into the format of a dramatic thriller with elements of comedy and true crime.
The phenomenal success of the series has been going on for a month now, and the real events are becoming overgrown with details and speculation.
If you are looking for something no less intense and at the same time based on real events, then these movies and TV series are for you.

A new rumor indicates that Disney has purchased Jeffery Epstein’s Island for $3 billion to add a new Disney Cruise Line Island and theme park.
Is it true?
No. It’s another article from the satire site Mouse Trap News.
The article was posted in early March and joked that Disney likely purchased the island as a cover-up because the island isn’t worth $3 billion. They also tease that people say it should be called “Kidcot.”
“Many people are suggesting the new name of this park should be Kidcot. However, skeptical fans aren’t buying any of this. In fact, many people are speculating that Disney bought this island to cover something up.”
The article further jokes that a Disney executive said:

With the fandom that has popped up around the Sonic the Hedgehog films, both among younger audiences and adult fans of the games, it was only a matter of time before the IP became a franchise. Despite its A-list cast and high production values that should spell success as a spin-off, Knuckles loses track of the magic that made the films so beloved by fans, delivering a soulless, nearly insufferable comedy devoid of laughs or charm.
Set after the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the miniseries Knuckles follows the echidna warrior as he trains deputy Wade Whipple (Adam Pally) in his ways. It’s almost insulting how little Knuckles actually plays into this story, as his storyline is relegated mainly to a subplot about a shadow organization hunting him down for his power, with a focus more on Whipple’s journey of self-discovery that absolutely no one will care about.

Exclusive: The production outfit behind Netflix’s Prince Andrew feature Scoop is working with Sarah Lancashire on an “ambitious, contemporary returning series” that Lancashire will star in.
Lighthouse Film & Television is teaming with Lancashire’s recently launched Via Pictures on the show, we can reveal, which Lighthouse co-founder Radford Neville teased is a “research heavy project inspired by real characters.”
Conversations with networks have already begun and Lancashire will star, contradicting reports that emerged earlier this week that she has retired from acting.
Lancashire launched Via Pictures with husband and former BBC and Banijay UK boss Peter Salmon last year upon the conclusion of Happy Valley, one of the corporation’s biggest dramas of the past decade.
“When we set up Lighthouse in 2019 we talked to Sarah about developing something specifically for her,” added Neville. “In the interim she has set up Via and towards the end of last year...

While The Beatles and The Rolling Stones both led the charge during the British Invasion, they had wildly different public images. Mick Jagger’s girlfriend explained why The Beatles were seen as good boys and The Rolling Stones were seen as bad boys. Notably, John Lennon revealed that he was a huge fan of one Rolling Stones song.

Marianne Faithfull was Jagger’s girlfriend in the 1960s. The biggest scoop of the century is pinning the British royal family to a sex trafficking scandal, as relived in Netflix film “Scoop.”
The feature, directed by Philip Martin and based on former “Newsnight” producer Sam McAlister’s memoir “Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview,” stars Gillian Anderson as BBC anchor Emily Maitlis, who infamously interviewed a disgraced Prince Andrew (Rufus Sewell) about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein in 2019.
“Scoop” is written by Peter Moffatt and Geoff Bussetil, with Billie Piper starring as producer/author McAlister. Keeley Hawes and Romola Garai co-star.
The film debuts on Netflix, following the conclusion of royal family drama “The Crown” in 2023. To note, “Scoop” lead star Anderson appeared on “The Crown” as Margaret Thatcher.
“Scoop” centers on the behind-the-scenes push to land an interview with Prince Andrew after the royal was listed in court papers as part of a U.

In 1967, The Beatles unveiled the cover for their album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. It featured the four Beatles in colorful uniforms, surrounded by a group of historical and contemporary figures. It has gone down in history as one of the most iconic album covers of all time. Before the band released it, though, their lawyers worried it would land them in a heap of legal trouble.

If you told me there was a plan in place to make four Beatles biopics — one each about John, Paul, George, and Ringo — and that they were going to be directed by Richard Linklater, I’d be suffused with curiosity and excitement. If you told me that those same four movies were going to be directed by Martin Scorsese, I’d be suffused with curiosity and excitement. If you told me that a quartet of Beatles biopics were going to be directed (one apiece) by Linklater, Scorsese, Greta Gerwig, and Todd Haynes, I’d be suffused with curiosity and excitement — and, in fact, that last option would make a beautiful kind of sense. When you think about it, why would anyone — even Scorsese, the poet of rock-operatic drama — want to direct all four Beatles biopics? Talk about hogging the spoils.

If you are going to create a game called Epstein Island, you have two options; both of which require equally dubious morals. Either you try to remain earnest, modelling the location after the real island of Little Saint James, re-treading the horrifying real-world accounts of what took place there, and attempting to educate the general public on why something as despicably heinous as this can never be allowed to happen again on such a large scale.
Or, you lean into the parody angle. Make the whole thing one big meme, with Stephen Hawking chasing midgets around on a rocket-powered wheelchair, and a mini game where the player has to avoid Prince Andrew’s over-sized drops of sweat. This would of course be exceedingly disrespectful to the real victims of Epstein and his cohorts, but it would at least require an iota of effort to create.
Needless to say, Epstein Island does neither of these things.

The Beatles had a public reputation for their charm, but they could be incredibly unpleasant to those they disliked. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr were a close-knit group who were quick to defend one another. The band’s combined disdain could be incredibly unpleasant to its target.

Beatles manager Brian Epstein began working with the band early in their career. He liked them and even went on vacation with Lennon. Still, he was slightly afraid of them.

Netflix gives a look at Gillian Anderson’s transformation into BBC Newsnight‘s Emily Maitlis in the first teaser for its upcoming film Scoop.
Anderson stars alongside Rufus Sewell, Billie Piper and Keely Hawes in the upcoming film, which provides a behind-the-scenes look into how the November 2019 Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew about his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein came to be.

Another royal scandal is getting the Netflix treatment.
After “The Crown” concluded in 2023, the streaming platform is releasing film “Scoop” about the infamous 2019 BBC “Newsnight” interview between anchor Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew. “The Crown” alum Gillian Anderson portrays Maitlis in the movie based on the former “Newsnight” editor Sam McAlister’s book “Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview.” Rufus Sewell plays Prince Andrew, the Duke of York at Buckingham Palace.
“Scoop” centers on the behind-the-scenes flurry to land an interview with Prince Andrew after the royal was listed in court papers as part of a U.S. civil case against convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. During the “Newsnight” broadcast, Prince Andrew addressed the allegations made by Epstein and his victims. Prince Andrew alleged that he only knew Epstein through socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who was later convicted on sex-trafficking charges in December 2021. Maxwell’s story...

Kevin Spacey will pay $1 million to MRC, the production company behind “House of Cards,” to settle claims that he sexually harassed young male staffers on the show.
Spacey was dropped from the final season of the show in 2017. He was facing a $31 million judgment in the case, after an arbitrator found that the allegations were credible and that MRC deserved to recoup its costs for scrapping the final season and starting over without him.
Spacey has agreed to pay the $1 million over multiple years in installments equal to 10% of his after-tax income. MRC has also secured Spacey’s cooperation in trying to recoup the balance of its costs from someone better able to pay: its insurance company.
In April 2022, MRC sued Fireman’s Fund and Lloyd’s of London on the theory that Spacey’s absence from the show was covered by their cast insurance policies.

Ringo Starr joined The Beatles in 1962, several years into John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison’s musical collaboration. While he fit in with them well, he was still initially an outsider. This meant that he wasn’t always in on information the other Beatles had. When Lennon got married, for example, Starr had no idea.
Ringo Starr did not initially know that John Lennon was married
In 1962, Lennon married his longtime girlfriend, Cynthia, when he learned she was pregnant. They tried to keep their union and child a secret from the public. They also kept the secret from Starr.
“George and I started out sharing an apartment in Green Street, Park Lane,” he said in The Beatles Anthology. “£45 a week it cost — a fortune! John was living with Cynthia.”

In 2004, Degrassi: The Next Generation aired what would become their most controversial episode with “Accidents Will Happen,” which premiered in Canada in two parts on January 26 and February 9, 2004. However, the episode would not see the light of day on Degrassi’s U.S. network, The N, for another two years. This sparked outrage among Degrassi fans and confusion among the show’s stars, who couldn’t understand why, out of every sensitive topic Degrassi had touched upon, the storyline in “Accidents Will Happen” was too much for America to handle.

As royal watchers know, Prince Andrew has been making headlines the last few years for all the wrong reasons. When past allegations against him and his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein resurfaced in 2019, the late Queen Elizabeth‘s second-oldest son decided to give a televised interview in an effort to defend himself. But it ended up making him look even worse.
After the Duke of York’s “car crash” interview, he was forced to step down from royal duties. He later settled with his accuser and has been pushed further and further away from the royal limelight as his brother, King Charles, has slimmed down the monarchy.
Now some are suggesting that the disgraced prince, who is “desperate” to rebuild his reputation and “return to public life,” should remarry his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.

When The Beatles released “Please Please Me” in early 1963, both Paul McCartney and John Lennon received writing credit. The pair wanted to be the next Rodgers and Hammerstein, and they established the precedent of earning joint credit for their songs. According to McCartney, though, he didn’t have all that much to do with writing the song. He admitted that “Please Please Me” was more of Lennon’s song than his own.
Paul McCartney said John Lennon wrote more of ‘Please Please Me’ than he did
After achieving success with “Love Me Do,” The Beatles exploded with the release of “Please Please Me.” It was a song McCartney and Lennon worked on together, but McCartney admitted that it was more of Lennon’s song than his.

For four decades, Sundance has maintained a reputation as one of the most important film festivals in America for independent filmmakers from around the globe. To commemorate its 40th anniversary in 2024 and the enormity (and reciprocity) of that cultural footprint, festival leadership set a series of restoration screenings to highlight many of the most memorable films programmed throughout its history.
“When you look at the way the independent film movement has evolved and changed over the years, from the maturation of an industry and the opportunities that artists have found, to the way that an audience has been built around the work, you see a festival that has evolved alongside it,” says John Nein, senior programmer and director of strategic initiatives.
This year’s festival takes place Jan. 18-28, in person in Park City and Salt Lake City, with a selection of titles available online nationwide from Jan. 25-28. The...

Infamous sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s younger brother, Mark Epstein, speculated that former Attorney General Bill Barr may have been “protecting” high-profile individuals associated with his brother’s jail cell suicide.
Epstein, who faced federal charges of sex trafficking underage girls from Florida to New York, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019. Mark challenged the initial determination by then-ag Barr that his brother died by suicide due to “screw-ups” in the jail.
“Yes, there were screw-ups, but that doesn’t mean my brother committed suicide because of screw-ups,” Mark told the New York Post.
It should be noted that in this current day and age the term “committed suicide” has been replaced with “died by suicide,” as the act is not a crime but a tragedy.

Former President Bill Clinton allegedly warned Vanity Fair not to publish articles regarding the sex-trafficking allegations against “his good friend” Jeffrey Epstein. Clinton reportedly stormed into their newsroom and began to “threaten” them.
According to the newly unsealed court documents, Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser, mentioned Clinton in a 2011 email exchange with Sharon Churcher, a journalist in the Daily Mail.
The emails exchanged were advice given to Giuffre on whether she should do an interview and sell a photo to the publication. Churcher even offered to help her get a book deal back then.
“When I was doing some research into [Vanity Fair] yesterday, it does concern me what they could want to write about me considering that B. Clinton walked into Vf and threatened them not to write sex-trafficking articles about his good friend J.E.,” Giuffre wrote in an email.

New York Jets injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show to deny that he called late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel a pedophile in a previous interview.
Rodgers stated on Tuesday’s show, “I don’t think he’s a P word.”
In an effort to explain that comment, he stated, “I was referring to the fact that if there’s a list and there are names on it, that it’d be the second time a soft-brained, junior college wacko … whatever other things have been said by him and other people in the media — would be right twice. I totally understand how serious an allegation of pedophilia would be … I’m not stupid enough to accuse you of that with zero evidence.”
Last week, Rodgers was on the same show when he not-so-subtly suggested that Kimmel might have ties to the late New York financier and convicted sex trafficker Jeffery Epstein.

House Republicans held a hearing on Wednesday as part of their push to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena to testify behind closed doors. The president’s son has said he will testify publicly about his business dealings overseas, and even showed up to the hearing on Wednesday, but Republicans haven’t been interested in transparency, insisting on questioning him privately — which would allow them to cherry pick what to reveal about the proceedings.

Hundreds of pages of sealed records related to Jeffrey Epstein have been made public over the past week, revealing previously unknown details about the late accused sex trafficker who called some of the world’s most wealthy and influential people his friends, from Bill Clinton to Prince Andrew.
The release comes after a judge’s December ruling that the documents, which until Wednesday had been redacted, should no longer be concealed from the public. Previously, the documents had been part of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 civil case against Ghislaine Maxwell.

One of the alleged victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein claimed she had sex multiple times with former CEO of Victoria’s Secret Les Wexner, according to documents released on Tuesday.
The damning claim stems from a 2015 civil case against Ghislaine Maxwell by Virginia Giuffre as hundreds of court documents describing the alleged criminal activities of Epstein began to be released to the public last week.
Wexner, who was named in the previously sealed court records among many of Epstein’s long-rumored powerful friends, was accused of having sex with Giuffre “multiple” times.

As promised, Aaron Rodgers was a guest on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, where he addressed Jimmy Kimmel’s on-air comments from the day prior about their recent tension and called out an ESPN executive’s remarks regarding the situation.
After Kimmel spent the first seven minutes of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday criticizing Rodgers’ remarks from last week about Jeffrey Epstein and questioning the NFL star’s intelligence, the New York Jets quarterback said that the conflict between the pair is connected to differing beliefs about Covid-19. In 2022, Rodgers admitted to misleading the media about his Covid-19 vaccination status after he announced the year prior that he was “immunized” before news later broke that he was not, in fact, vaccinated.
“The history of this — whatever this is between Jimmy and I — this goes back to Covid times,” Rodgers said Tuesday on the program that airs on ESPN.

Aaron Rodgers is breaking his silence after what he said last week about Jimmy Kimmel.
Aaron went on The Pat McAfee Show last week and mentioned Jimmy’s name in association with the Jeffrey Epstein documents.
Specifically, Aaron said, “There’s a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, really hoping that doesn’t come out. I’ll tell you what, if that lists comes out, I definitely will be popping some sort of bottle.”
Jimmy slammed Aaron for mentioning him in association with any Epstein documents, and later, slammed Aaron again and reiterated that he’s never had any association with the disgraced financier. Jimmy‘s name was not featured in the documents that were unsealed.
Now, Aaron is speaking out for the first time since all of this went down.
