Have you ever witnessed a cinematic moment so moving that it lingered long after the credits rolled? The death of Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame was just one of the moments that devastated Marvel fans, and Scarlett Johansson found it almost as hard to come to terms when she learned about her character’s fate.
Kevin Feige produced the 2019 superhero flick, which is a direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Mark Ruffalo.
Scarlett Johansson in and as Black Widow
Indeed, Johansson handled Feige’s cruel Avengers: Endgame decision with the poise of a true champion, a decision that continues to shock Marvel fans to this day. But behind the scenes, the Black Widow actress, 39, was not immune to the weight of this narrative shift, admitting to crying in her shower alone—a raw, human reaction to a character she had lived and breathed for almost a decade.

In 2022, Netflix released The Grey Man, an action thriller film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush (in his Hollywood debut), Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie received mixed reviews, with critics praising the cast and action but criticizing the “clichéd script.” The movie was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Joe Russo contributing to the script alongside Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
But, despite the mixed reviews, Netflix was seemingly satisfied with the movie as a sequel was ordered, and based on what the Russo Brothers recently said, The Grey Man sequel seems to be their top priority at this moment, although they do have a lot of upcoming projects.

The MCU has been teasing the Living Tribunal, considered one of the most powerful entities in the MCU multiverse, only second to the One Above All, since the first Doctor Strange. Since then, the character, who serves as the judge, jury, and executioner in universe-trembling affairs, has been teased several times, most notably in Multiverse of Madness and Loki.
But long before the multiversal saga kickstarted, the character almost made its debut in Avengers: Infinity War, and per the initial draft of the film, he’d have judged Thanos’ actions.

Starting with the 2011 film, Chris Evans has embodied the iconic Marvel superhero Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has since reprised his role in multiple films. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the great franchise experiment of modern times. It is an expanding universe telling different stories in a large movie continuity, converging in crossover events like the comic books that inspire them, with dozens of characters across dozens of movies.
Before the MCU became the creatively bankrupt and commercially unviable husk it is today, it dominated the pop culture conversation. Today, it is easy to forget that a decade ago it was unthinkable for a movie about a talking raccoon and a giant tree to be a huge commercial hit, but somehow we got a whole trilogy starring them.
That success climaxed in "Avengers: Infinity War," an unprecedented cinematic crossover that brought dozens of heroes together in a single movie, and then (briefly) killed half of them. Though these deaths were meant to be arbitrary, a throw of the cosmic dice, there was a bit of...

It's easy to forget, in our superhero-fatigued world of 2023, just how much of a stranglehold "Avengers: Infinity War" had on pop culture back in 2018. Although most of us understood that the effects of Thanos' snap would eventually be undone, that didn't stop the movie's ending from feeling like a genuinely devastating blow. Fans were crying in theaters, and other fans (allegedly) were so stressed out they had to be taken out of the theater by paramedics.
Fans impatiently waited a year for "Avengers: Endgame" to give them a satisfying conclusion, but for the writers there was one big problem: How would our heroes defeat Thanos without it feeling repetitive, or like a copout? "Infinity War" was basically just the Avengers trying and failing to stop Thanos' quest for the infinity stones for two and a half hours straight, so was "Endgame" going to be just another two and a half...

Marvel Studios is moving fast to find a new variant on its script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Marvel mainstay Michael Waldron will tackle Kang Dynasty, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The hiring cements Waldron as a key architect of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, its sprawling story told across multiple realities in film and TV. Waldron entered the Marvel fold as the creator of Loki, and went on to write Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He is also the scribe behind Avengers: Secret Wars, which will follow Kang Dynasty. Kang is due out May 1, 2026, while Secret Wars has a release date of May 7, 2027.
The move follows the exit of director Destin Daniel Cretton, who remains in the Marvel fold on the TV show Wonder Man as well as with his upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel.

One of the more pleasant surprises of "Avengers: Endgame" was the early reveal that this was going to be a time travel story. The MCU had never really done time travel prior to this point, and for obvious reasons they would never really do it again. Messing with time can cause massive plot holes, after all, so it's best to do it sparingly. But as for how "Endgame" handled it? It's hard to complain. It gave fans an opportunity to go back through some of the series' greatest hits, allowing us to look back at how much our characters — particularly Captain America and Iron Man — had grown over the years. The storytelling choice was, by basically any measurement, a massive success.

Five years removed from "Avengers: Infinity War," it's easy to forget just how traumatizing Thanos' snap was for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The most tragic aspect of wiping out half of the galaxy's population with the Infinity Gauntlet was the incomprehensible randomness of that cataclysmic event. One second your loved ones are there in the flesh, only to be a pile of dust and ash in the next. No one scene encapsulated that more than the beginning of "Avengers: Endgame," when Clint Barton/Hawkeye's (Jeremy Renner) entire family vanishes in an instant on an otherwise idyllic summer day.
In the sprawling three-hour commentary for "Endgame," directors Joe and Anthony Russo are joined by screenwriter Stephen McFeely to discuss a slew of topics, including Hawkeye's transition into a ruthless mercenary taking out nameless villains on the neon-tinged streets of Tokyo, Japan. In Joe Johnston's 2011 World War II action flick "Captain America: The First Avenger," the title hero (Chris Evans) had to face off against a wicked villain nicknamed the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving). The Red Skull had been physically enhanced by advanced super-steroids, but the drugs did a number on his skin, leaving his face bright red and kind of skull-looking. The Red Skull was also the evil Nazi leader of Hydra, a super-Nazi group. In their bid to take over the world, the Red Skull and Hydra had built hundreds of high-tech laser weapons, hoping to use them to take over the world. All the weapons needed was a power supply. Curious that Hydra scientists could initially build working high-tech weapons without a power supply, but "America" abides by simple comic book logic.

Anthony and Joe Russo's "Avengers: Endgame" now feels like it happened so very, very long ago. Released in April of 2019, "Endgame" was the conclusion to 21 films' worth of superhero shenanigans that had been building since the release of Jon Favreau's action flick "Iron Man" back in 2008. Now, in 2023, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has effectively petered out, attracting far less attention than it once did, largely due to audience fatigue, oversaturation (so many TV shows!), and a variety of other factors that dictate the fall of once-popular things.
But, golly, in 2019 "Endgame" was a big deal. Audiences frothed in unchecked excitement over the three-hour superhero epic that involved magic stones, time travel, mass extinction, mass resurrection, an exhausting 30-minute long death-laden battle sequence, and a cameo from Howard the Duck. At the end of the movie, Iron Man finally died, having sacrificed himself to commit mass murder, and Captain America...

Anthony and Joe Russo's 2018 superhero blockbuster "Avengers: Infinity War" was the 19th film in the long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe, and had an ending so beautifully bleak that it could have served as the proper ending to the entire series.
Since the start of the MCU in 2008, Earth had become suddenly and suspiciously lousy with superheroes; the android Vision (Paul Bettany) made note of this astonishing new change to Earth in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War." What happened to the universe that hundreds of superheroes suddenly came into being?
And, as we all know, wherever there are superheroes, there are planet-wide cataclysms. It's almost as if superheroes are largely responsible for creating the mayhem they so often fight. What a fitting end to a superhero story, then, that they should attract a destructive threat larger than they could handle. Thanos (Josh Brolin) was concerned with overpopulation and, approaching the problem with a warlord's mindset,...

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe charged down the home stretch of the Infinity Saga with "Avengers: Endgame," audiences were primed for three hours worth of falling action. The first part of this long-awaited finale (which kicked off ten years earlier with 2008's "Iron Man") concluded with Thanos activating the Infinity Gauntlet, which wiped out half of all life in the universe. We watched in shock as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther and others disintegrated into nothingness. Thanos had seemingly won the war. So this second part had to get all of the key players back in the game and stage the climactic battle that would end in triumph for our heroes.

As a narrative device, time travel can potentially introduce interesting ethical conundrums to a story, especially when it plays around with established mechanics to suit its world-building. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been chock-full of intriguing stories about worlds overrun with superpowered entities, but as soon as time travel was added to the mix, the trajectory of the MCU changed forever. The Time Stone was first mentioned in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and was expanded upon in "Doctor Strange," where time reversal was an integral aspect of the central battle between Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dormammu (voiced by Jonathan Adams). Subsequently, the franchise's most ambitious foray into the concept took place in "Avengers: Endgame," which follows a time-heist plotline using the Quantum Realm as a foundation for the events that unfurled.
The McU's time travel shenanigans definitely have some loopholes when inspected through the lens of quantum physics, which is perfectly fine — after all,...

Is there any movie with more "movie" crammed into it than "Avengers: Endgame"? As the climax of The Infinity Saga, the film was tasked with capping off a shared narrative spread out across 21 Marvel Cinematic Universe movies released over 11 years. It's a film that goes from playing like the McU's answer to "The Leftovers" to an "Ocean's Eleven"-styled assembling-the-heist-crew flick to a zippy time-travel adventure that sees characters stealthily revisiting their pasts like they're Marty McFly trying to avoid running into himself in "Back to the Future Part II." And that's all before the ginormous third-act battle, in which virtually everyone who's ever popped up in an MCU film before joins forces to collectively wail on the villainous Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army for a solid half-hour (if not longer).

The official trailer for Extraction 2 has Chris Hemsworth returning from near death as black ops mercenary Tyler Rake in another brutal display of power when he is personally requested for a rescue mission.
As is explained in the high-octane footage (below), Rake was clinically dead nine months ago. But he fought his way back and now, he just has to find out why.
Rake’s deadly mission follows his surviving the events of the original film and in the sequel aiming to rescue the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from prison against impossible odds. Hemsworth continues such death-defying stunts in the nonstop, brutal and bloody Extraction 2 trailer.
The original Extraction thriller saw the Australian mercenary mourn the death of his son while rescuing the kidnapped son of an imprisoned Indian drug kingpin. Rake then seemingly died in the original Extraction, which hit Netflix in 2020, but a...

2023 is shaping up to be a year of action with films like John Wick: Chapter 4 and Fast X. Netflix‘s own Extraction proved to be a big hit for Chris Hemsworth outside of Marvel films, and though the first ended on somewhat of an open note regarding his character’s survival, the streamer has brought him back and is ready to give audiences the ride of their lives in the newly released posters of the sequel. Sam Hargrave returns to direct Hemsworth in more breathtakingly brutal action scenes for this year’s Extraction 2.

When Jon Favreau made "Iron Man" in 2008, he, like many, assumed it might be the last time audiences ever saw the character on the big screen. As such, he included a few cute in-jokes that were never really meant to be extrapolated into future movies. One was the post-credits stinger when Iron Man was approached by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) about joining a team called the Avengers Initiative. Favreau has admitted in interviews that it was meant to be nothing more than a wink to fans, and not a promise of things to come.
The other in-joke was the film's last line of dialogue. When asked if he knew anything about the mysterious armor-clad superhero that had been rocketing around the world disarming terrorists, Tony Stark winked and said out loud "I am Iron Man." In superhero comics, his secret identity would have been vital. With that single line of dialogue,...

"Avengers: Infinity War" is arguably the biggest achievement of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is a movie that brings together a decade's worth of plots and characters in an epic conclusion to the saga that perhaps should have been the end of the MCU for a while. Despite all the great character meetings, the big reveals, the emotional beats, and the cool fights, the film feels incomplete. This is mostly because "Infinity War" is half a story, with "Endgame" providing an actual conclusion to the storyline — and some character deaths too.
It turns out, even if these movies are already rather long, we almost got an even longer movie that offered some insight to unanswered questions from the movie, like how the hell Thanos got the power stone before the start of "Infinity War."
Speaking with Near Mint Condition, comics legend and Thanos creator Jim Starlin revealed there is a...

Action is back, baby! While John Wick: Chapter 4 is blasting through the box office with a Dragon’s Breath shotgun, Chris Hemsworth also returns with his own fight and stunt spectacular with the Netflix sequel, Extraction 2. In the original, we are introduced to Tyler Rake, a mercenary who had taken on the assignment of seeking and rescuing the kidnapped son of a prisoned, international crime lord. The first Extraction featured some of the more amazing action sequences of the past few years, including an extended one-shot sequence that took place in and around an apartment building and on the streets of Bangladesh.

Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake is very much alive in the first trailer for “Extraction 2,” the sequel to the hit 2020 Netflix actioner that ended with Hemsworth’s mercenary left for dead.
Sam Hargrave returns to direct “Extraction 2,” which finds Rake tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Indeed, the sequel trades the sweaty Bangladesh landscape of the first film for snowy Georgia.
The teaser offers up a bit on how Rake survived the end of “Extraction,” but the bulk of the footage is a long shot in which Rake fights his way through a barrage of baddies.
When released in 2020, “Extraction” quickly became one of the most-watched Netflix original films ever, and the streamer quickly greenlit a sequel.
Joe and Anthony Russo’s Agbo produces “Extraction 2” and Joe Russo wrote the script.

When it released in 2016, one of the biggest complaints about Doctor Strange was that its hero hewed too close to Iron Man. It followed an arrogant man at the top of his game who suffers a humbling set back and discovers a new identity in the East. Also, facial hair. Surprisingly, bringing the two characters together in Avengers: Infinity War eased the comparison, as initial snark-offs between the duo eventually gave way to revealing their distinctive power sets.
But the movie almost went in the opposite direction, further winking at the interchangability between the two. Early concept art posted to Reddit shows Strange wearing Iron Man’s Mark 50 armor while facing off against Thanos’s minion the Ebony Maw. Created by Phil Saunders, who has worked on several MCU films, the images show Strange deflecting Ebony Maw’s needle attacks while wearing the armor, his Eye of Agamotto glowing in the center.

Avengers: Infinity War featured a “mistake” that film fans once deemed Marvel’s “biggest” to date.
The blockbuster was released in 2018, and earned acclaim from critics and audiences.
Directed by the Russo brothers, the film follows the Avengers’s attempts to stop Thanos from collecting the six all-powerful Infinity Stones as part of his bid to destroy half of all life in the universe.
It seems, though, that the directors and writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, forgot a plot point that occured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s past.
The scene in question includes the characters Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) and Thanos (Josh Brolin).
After handing the Tesseract to Thanos, who already has the Power Stone, Maw says: "My humble personage bows before your grandeur.

It’s a clear, windy day on the Atlanta set of the sci-fi adventure “The Electric State,” Joe and Anthony Russo’s latest film for Netflix through their independent studio, Agbo. She shares all the fun new-baby details — name, time of birth — and she and Aust banter about the kid’s possible nicknames. Then, without missing a beat, Russo-Otstot pivots to check in with Aust about another Agbo project, “All Fun and Games,” an independent horror film Costa...
