Sugar Ending Explained: Does Sugar Go Back to His Home Planet? ( Photo Credit – Apple TV )
Apple TV’s sci-fi detective thriller Sugar wrapped up its first season with another twist, which was difficult to anticipate. However, nothing can match the major twist of the show that revealed John Sugar to be an alien, residing on earth with other fellow aliens, to study the behavior of human beings. Despite not being as shocking as this twist, the ending is pretty tight and leaves room for unanswered questions that hint at the possibility of a second season.
What Happens in Sugar?

The massive revelation of Sugar being an extraterrestrial being at the closing sequence of Episode 6 in the Colin Farrell starrer Sugar just keeps getting better. What we all thought to be a show about a charming private investigator’s heroics turned out to be much bigger than that. Sugar almost died during his duel with Stallings, and just when he’s about to stand on his feet again, bigger problems knock at his door. Throughout the series, the Cosmopolitan Polyglot Society has been under a gray cloud, with nobody being able to figure out what their origins are. Many conspiracy theories took place alongside David and Kenny’s lame guesses. In Episode 7, we finally get to know how this society came to be.

Michelle Yeoh has had a few hits and misses on the red carpet throughout her career. But most of the time, she makes incredible clothing selections that are often sophisticated, timeless, and have sleek silhouettes.
Her most recent appearance at the 2024 Gold Gala did not disappoint; she looked elegant in a cream Schiaparelli tweed skirt suit with some quirky accessories that, I think, balanced out the ensemble’s more traditional silhouette. She did, however, appear uncomfortable in her Sergio Rossi pumps.

Death, taxes, and one-to-three Hong Sang-soo movies per year. I much prefer the latter, and it’s nice knowing we’re just a month out from In Our Day, his 30th feature and latest on which he serves as director, writer, producer, cinematographer, and composer. Following last year’s Directors’ Fortnight debut, the film begins a rollout on May 17 at Film at Lincoln Center before expanding; naturally, there is a trailer.
As Michael Frank said in his review, “In Our Day remains straightforward in its filmmaking, attaining depth through dialogue designed to cause the viewer to think about the value and meaning of the art they consume––among other things, the film itself. It’s cyclical in a way, and Hong knows that, adding to his collection of understated, underseen films with great performances.”

Last year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Cregger’s next film, a mysterious horror project called Weapons. They signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, tasking the company with developing high concept genre projects for them. And they gave a greenlight to the thriller Companion, produced by BoulderLight and Cregger. Last May, it was announced that Pedro Pascal of The Last of Us had signed on to star in Weapons… and six months later, it was reported that Pascal was also in talks to play Reed Richards in Marvel’s new attempt at bringing the Fantastic Four to the big screen. Last month, a rumor started to circulate that the shooting schedules for Weapons and Fantastic Four were conflicting,...

The trailer for “A Quiet Place: Day One” has been released, marking the latest installment in the post-apocalyptic horror franchise spawned from 2018’s “A Quiet Place.”
As the title suggests, the film will explore the beginning of the invasion in which deadly alien creatures with hyper-sonic hearing arrive on Earth.
The original film and its direct follow-up were helmed by “The Office” and “Jack Ryan” alum John Krasinski, but Michael Sarnoski directs the upcoming third installment. The first two films focused on the survival of the Abbott family, consisting of Krasinski and his real-life wife Emily Blunt as Lee and Evelyn, who do everything they can to protect their children, Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Marcus (Noah Jupe).
“A Quiet Place Part II’s” cold open showed Lee and the rest of the Abbott family navigating the chaos of the first day of the invasion in their quaint suburban town. The prequel “Day One,...

It's fair to say that Ryan Gosling is on a roll. Taking advantage of his sizable indie cred after starring in cult classics like "Drive" and "The Place Beyond the Pines," Gosling has been trying his hand at bigger tentpole films with massive budgets that have mostly been paying off, save for a few unfortunate misfires, through no fault of his own. The unparalleled success of Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" even took advantage of the actor's singing talents with the show-stopper "I'm Just Ken," which landed on Billboard's Top 100.
Capitalizing on the red hot Kenergy from "Barbie," Gosling is taking his movie star good looks and impressive comedic chops over to the new action comedy romance "The Fall Guy," based loosely on the ABC TV series of the same name that aired from 1981 to 1986. Judging by what we've seen so far, "The Fall Guy" looks like it's striking the right balance between high-flying stunts,...

With the many, many, many versions of Spider-Man introduced in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it says something that Spider-Punk emerged as a breakout character. However, the character wasn’t always part of the story and the producers had to fight to keep him in the movie once Daniel Kaluuya signed on.
Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya), aka Hobie Brown, is part of the Spider-Society in Across the Spider-Verse, although he mostly plays by his own rules. He forms a bond with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) and by the end of the film, the stage is set for Hobie to play a bigger role in the upcoming sequel. “He was in and out of the picture for a little while because we weren’t sure which elements we were going to stick in this part and which were going to migrate to the next movie,” Phil Lord told Entertainment Weekly. “When we met Daniel Kaluuya,...

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was recently released on Digital and fans quickly noticed many small changes from the version they recall seeing in theaters. While speaking with GamesRadar, Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller explained the reason behind the changes.
“There was an international version that was made almost two months before the movie came out because it had to be translated into different languages and these French censors have to decide what the rating of the movie is in Europe,” Christopher Miller explained. “The team at [Sony Pictures] Imageworks still had some shots that they felt they could do better for the finished version. So, they cleaned up and tweaked those things.“
Miller added that crew members would suggest other changes that made their way into the constantly shifting cut of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. “Certain crew members – people in the sound department or on the animation team – were like,...

New Delhi, July 18 (Ians) With Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ gearing up for its theatrical release, interest in the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, also referred to as the ‘Father of the atom bomb’, has skyrocketed, especially his leaning towards Hinduism and his references to the Bhagavad Gita.
Oppenheimer and his team altered the course of human history during World War II with the Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of the first nuclear bomb in 1945.
Throughout the course of his life, particularly during the nuclear tests, Oppenheimer found a strong source of inspiration in the classical Hindu text, the Bhagavad Gita, to which he looked for many answers that helped shape his entire philosophy of life itself.
This was especially true, when faced with the enormity of his creation and the devastation it could unleash, the physicist cited the law of dharma or sacred duty from the Bhagavad Gita.

London, June 8 (Ians) As the world grapples with the challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence, the UK will host the first major global summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI) safety, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced.
The summit, which will be hosted in the UK this autumn, will consider the risks of AI, including frontier systems, and discuss how they can be mitigated through internationally coordinated action. It will also provide a platform for countries to work together on further developing a shared approach to mitigate these risks, said a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s office on Wednesday.
The summit will bring together key countries, leading tech companies and researchers to agree safety measures to evaluate and monitor the most significant risks from AI.

Sometimes, a movie goes so fast you wonder where the time has gone.
The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango was just that kind of movie, as it reunited Lacey Chabert and Will Kemp, allowing them to kick up their heels together once more -- this time to solve a murder!
Did their natural chemistry work for or against this crime-solving duo?
In the movie, Chabert plays Constance Bailey, a seasoned detective who finds that working with a partner doesn't work for her style.
Being a lone wolf might help her solve cases, but it does nothing for her chances at a promotion. Her department chief told her as much, but what he asked of her didn't appear to sink in.
You knew that other than that quirk of self-imposed solitary confinement, she was excellent at her job when the Chief sent her to investigate an important case -- the murder...

San Francisco, May 17 (Ians) Sam Altman, CEO of Microsoft-backed OpenAI, has admitted that if generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology goes wrong, it can go quite wrong, as US senators expressed their fears about AI chatbots like ChatGPT.
Sam Altman, who testified at a hearing in the US Senate in Washington, DC, late on Tuesday, said that the AI industry needs to be regulated by the government as AI becomes “increasingly powerful”.
“If this technology goes wrong, it can go quite wrong,” Altman told them.
The US Senators grilled him about the potential threats AI poses and raised fears over the 2024 US election.
“If you were listening from home, you might have thought that voice was mine and the words from me, but in fact, that voice was not mine,” said US Senator Richard Blumenthal.
He added that AI is more than just research experiments and is real and present.

Los Angeles, May 9 (Ians) The US will officially put an end to the Covid-19 public health emergency on Thursday. The emergency was first instituted more than three years ago to provide funding and resources for the country to fight against the global pandemic, Xinhua news agency reported.
Since taking office in 2021, US President Joe Biden has repeatedly extended the emergency.
The US Departments of Health and Human Services has provided a roadmap outlining the transition away from the public health emergency. Although Covid-19 vaccines will probably be covered at least until September 30, 2024, Covid-19 treatments and testing might require out-of-pocket expenses based on health insurance. Medicaid determination is being pushed back to individual states.
Ending the Covid-19 public health emergency will impact some benefits, leading to mounting pressure to underinsured or uninsured people.

New Delhi, April 20 (Ians) As Apple CEO Tim Cook inaugurated the company’s second flagship store in India in the capital on Thursday amid a cheering crowd, a youngster was seen in the long queue wearing a T-shirt with ‘Tim Apple’ written on it.

“Tim Apple” went viral when in March 2019, then US President Donald Trump addressed Cook as “Tim Apple” during a meeting at the White House for the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board.
“We appreciate it very much, Tim Apple,” Trump told Cook during the meeting to discuss technology education and jobs.
Cook later responded to the Trump gaffe in good humour by changing his name on his Twitter bio to “Tim Apple”.

If 2017's “Steel Rain” was an idealistic, rather narrowed down look at the quest for Korean reunification and the forces that may come between that, then its sequel, “Steel Rain 2: Summit” is the broader, more refined version of the same vision. It may be entirely unrelated to its predecessor but it is hard to avoid making comparisons, especially given both share the same ambitious end goal. However, where the latest instalment thrives is in its dedication to acknowledging the rest of the cogs in the cluttered machine that is the strained inter-Korea relations, and the ways that all sides can manipulate each other in the quest for fiscal, and non-fiscal, power and gains.
“Steel Rain 2: Summit” is available from Echelon Studios
Central to proceedings are the leaders of three countries crucial to the quickly arriving peace summit: US President Smoot (Angus Macfadyen), South Korean President Han Kyeong-jae (Jung Woo-sung...

After his indictment on 34 felony counts Tuesday, Donald Trump sought out a faithful audience, joining a conference call with Christian supporters who see him as not simply battling a liberal prosecutor, but ensnared in a “demonic situation.”
Trump’s longtime religious adviser Paula White Cain, working with an evangelical group called Intercessors for America, organized an “Emergency Prayer Call” for Trump. (In Christianity, intercessors are people who pray to God on behalf of others.)

Washington, March 24 (Ians) TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew, who testified before the US Congress for the first time, has said the short-video making platform will never share US user data with China. However, the Congress appears more determined to ban TikTok than ever.
Chew, who appeared before dozens of House Energy and Commerce Committee members late on Thursday, offered reassurances that the company would enhance privacy and avoid any possibility of “unauthorised foreign access” to US user data, reports TechCrunch.
“I understand that there are concerns stemming from the inaccurate belief that TikTok’s corporate structure makes it beholden to the Chinese government or that it shares information about US users with the Chinese government,” Chew said.
“This is emphatically untrue,” he told the committee members.
“Let me state this unequivocally: ByteDance is not an agent of China or any other country,” Chew stressed.

San Francisco, March 22 (Ians) Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of Chinese short-form video platform, which faces a nationwide ban in the US, has warned users as he prepares to appear before the US Congress on March 23.
In a minute-long video on TikTok, Chew thanked the TikTok community of 150 million Americans ahead of his congressional hearing.
“That’s almost half of the US coming to TikTok, including 5 million US businesses. The majority of these are small and medium businesses,” he mentioned.
TikTok has about 7,000 employees in the US, reports The Verge.
“Some politicians have started talking about banning TikTok,” Chew said. “Now this could take TikTok away from all 150 million of you.”
The Joe Biden administration has reportedly demanded that China-based ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, must sell its stake in the short-video making app or face a possible ban.
