HBO Max is cleaning house again. After the Warner Bros. Discovery streamer removed over 60 titles from the platform without warning this August — many of which were originals developed for the service — a new batch of series are being prepped to be taken off in the next few days, sources have confirmed to IndieWire.
The most high-profile of these series is HBO’s “Westworld,” which was canceled this fall after falling ratings in Season 4. Other shows getting taken off include Victorian England sci-fi show “The Nevers” and rom-com anthology series “Love Life.” In a similar vein to the Lionsgate series “Minx,” the pulling of these shows effectively doubles as their cancellation announcement. According to sources, other less-high profile titles will be announced to leave the service in the next few days.
In addition, on December 9 Claudia Forestieri confirmed via Twitter that her series “Gordita Chronicles” would be taken off the platform soon.

Emmy nominee William Jackson Harper (Love Life) and Cristin Milioti (Made for Love) have been tapped to star in Peacock’s The Resort a true-crime love story from Palm Springs writer Andy Siara, Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail and UCP. The Righteous Gemstones‘ Skyler Gisondo also is set as a lead and Ben Sinclair (High Maintenance) and Parvesh Cheena (Mythic Quest) will recur in the ensemble series.
Written by Siara, The Resort is a multi-generational, coming-of-age love story disguised as a fast-paced mystery about the disappointment of time. An anniversary trip puts a marriage to the test when the couple (Harper and Milioti) finds themselves embroiled in one of the Mayan Riviera’s most bizarre unsolved mysteries that took place fifteen years prior.

As Season 2 of HBO Max’s Love Life got underway, Marcus Watkins comfortably navigated the world projecting the facade of a cool, laid-back dude. And then a funny thing happened. He got to know a woman named Mia, and suddenly his mask fell away.
But life’s gonna life. And at the time Marcus (played by The Good Place‘s William Jackson Harper) met Mia (2 Dope Queens‘ Jessica Williams), he was married to Emily (Utopia‘s Maya Kazan), making those sparks he shared with the attractive woman from the wedding they attended — the one who wasn’t his wife — super complicated.

When “Love Life” premiered in May 2020, America had an orange-haired cartoon for a president, seemingly every citizen wanted a vaccine, and HBO Max was launching to direct competition from a one-month-old streamer called Quibi. All that has since changed, and Season 2 of Sam Boyd’s anthology series has, too. The creator is joined by new co-showrunners Bridget Bedard (“Transparent”) and Rachelle Williams (“Survivor’s Remorse”), who welcome William Jackson Harper as the season’s new lead. The pandemic only lingers around the periphery of his years-spanning search for a partner. And there’s no pressure on the season to prop up HBO Max as a worthwhile streaming investment, since a) everyone has already subscribed to keep up with Season 3 of “Succession,” and b) the mighty Quibi has been vanquished.

After winning more than a few fans’ hearts — and a supporting actor Emmy nomination — as Chidi on “The Good Place,” William Jackson Harper takes center stage in HBO Max’s romantic anthology series “Love Life,” playing Marcus Watkins, a newly single 30-something trying to find his way.
“Marcus, first of all, is a much better dresser than I am,” Harper quips, admitting his uniform is jeans and T-shirt versus his character’s suit and tie. But wardrobe aside, Harper can relate to his character’s internal struggle: “I am the very definition of a late bloomer. Here I am at 41, just feeling like I know what my life is.”
Over the course of a 10-episode season, Marcus starts to figure things out with the help of his best friend Yogi (Chris “Comedian Cp” Powell) and his outspoken sister Ida (Punkie Johnson), and by navigating a will-they or won’t-they romance...

Love Life is coming back for Season 2 after first arriving in 2020 with the launch of HBO Max, but there are some changes happening as Anna Kendrick passes the baton to The Good Place‘s William Jackson Harper for the latest chapter of this romantic comedy anthology. The actor, who also recently featured in the Barry Jenkins-directed limited series The Underground Railroad, is taking on a role that many haven’t seen him in before with Love Life’s Marcus Watkins. “There was a lot of discussions because we knew it was going to be Will, and we knew the character’s name,” co-showrunner Rachelle Williams says of diving into Marcus, the man at the center of Season 2. (Credit: HBO Max) He’s almost the complete opposite of Kendrick’s Season 1 character, Darby, who pops into the show from time to time for Season 2. And when it came to creating Marcus’ story,...
