The rugby ace - who is married to Britian's Zara Phillips - was branded ''an idiot'' by his spouse when he first bid for and won Monbeg Dude at a charity auction, but it is proving to be on fine form. Downton Abbey became a worldwide television hit before I even had some basic grasp on the thing, so, of course, you know how these things work: the show gets big, a lead in said show does a few movies, and they eventually break away from their launching point to pursue a career in the better medium. It’s probably too early to say if that will happen with Hugh Bonneville, but a film is in his future.
As ScreenDaily (via ThePlaylist) reports, the actor will take to the big screen to lead Dead Simple, an adaptation of Peter James‘ crime novel that Daniel Eckhart will script. The story, as described by ScreenDaily, is a “race-against-time thriller about a bridegroom buried alive after a stag night prank goes wrong[;] Roy Grace must find this living coffin while coping with the mysterious disappearance of his wife.”
The material’s been a hot item for some time,...

Hugh Bonneville, better known as Downton Abbey’s Earl of Grantham, has just landed a rare leading man role in a big screen movie. Screen Daily reports that Bonneville will play detective Roy Grace in Dead Simple, an adaptation of one of Peter James‘ crime books based on the popular Brighton-based hero.
The ticking clock thriller finds Grace investigating four gruesome murders linked to a groom who has been buried alive somewhere on the eve of his wedding day. It’s the fifth book in the Grace series but one that could potentially kick-start a franchise about the quirky detective who is solving murders whilst trying to overcome the pain of losing his wife.
James has become a huge best-selling author in the UK where he is outselling Jeffrey Deaver and James Patterson right now, but he has a background in film after working as a film producer and financier...

Lucy Prebble, playwright, 30
Prebble is the creator of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl. Her latest play, Enron, transferred to the West End and Broadway in 2010.
When we were auditioning actors for Enron, they'd talk to the director, not to me, and it occurred to me they thought I was a secretary taking notes. Then one said, "Who's the writer?" and the director said, "She is." This guy just looked at me and went, "You wrote this? Ok..." and nodded. It was beautiful because I felt like he was giving me a lot of respect.
I've always written – diaries, terrible poetry when I was younger, that sort of thing – but I didn't think about showing anyone until I was at university. I fell in with a group of...

The BBC are reportedly considering sacking James Caan, Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden from Dragons’ Den and planning to hire some younger millionaires to take their place on the show’s panel.
The News of the World reports that Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne will remain on the show but they will be joined by two or three new faces in a bid to revamp the format.
A source said: “The producers are planning a big overhaul of the show. They’re approaching a lot of new businessmen and women – they’d like some younger millionaires and more women on the panel too.”
Bosses have reportedly already approached 28 year old Surrey based entrepreneur, James Simpson.
The source added: “He’s exactly the sort of dragon they want. He’s young, self-made and would bring glamour to the panel.”
A spokesman for the BBC said: “It is far too early to...
