In these trying times, “Saturday Night Live” wants character actors of all stripes to be extra careful when walking around New York City — but Jon Hamm can relax.
10 days after Steve Buscemi was hospitalized after being unexpectedly punched in the face, NBC’s late-night show mocked the situation with a lighthearted sketch about protecting our actors who are recognizable but not necessarily household names. Host Jake Gyllenhaal appeared as an NYPD officer urging actors to stay safe while briefing reporters about the issue.
“Just this week, national treasure Steve Buscemi was punched while walking through Kips Bay,” he said. “These types of attacks cannot and will not be tolerated. So to everyone watching, I have one important message: Stop punching character actors in the face.”
Gyllenhaal went on to explain that he believes Buscemi’s attack could be the start of a larger wave of crimes against character actors. He...

Demi Moore teased details of her role in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ drama Landman and revealed she expects to be back on set for a second season in early 2025.
“It’s a very interesting world in the boomtown of Fort Worth, Texas. It’s kind of this subculture that we haven’t seen before, which is what I think Taylor does so well,” said Moore, in a talk at the American Pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday.
“I play an oil tycoon’s wife… lots of nice clothes. The substance of it is really exploring the issues around oil, petroleum, on all sides…and then of course there’s – as Taylor does so well – there’s delicious drama within and family dynamics.”
Other cast members include Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm as rival oil tycoons, with Hamm playing Moore’s husband.

For years many fans of Pixar films have become familiar with a particular voice in their movies. That voice is actor and comedian John Ratzenberger. While many growing up in the 1980s remember him as Cliff Calvin on the popular sitcom Cheers, children from the mid-1990s to the late 2010s have heard his voice in other places.
Starting in the 1995 animated film Toy Story as Hamm the piggy bank, the actor went on to appear in 23 films for the animation studio. He was P.T. Flea in A Bug’s Life, Yeti in Monsters Inc., The Underminer in The Incredibles, Mack the Truck in Cars, and many more. In essence he became the Stan Lee of Pixar.
However, in recent years, he has been noticeably absent. His last vocal appearance was in 2020’s Onward as Fennwick the Cyclops. There was apparently a cameo in 2020’s Soul, but it was more...

Beta Cinema has arrived in Cannes with a slew of sales on its resistance epic William Tell.
Currently in post-production, screenwriter Nick Hamm’s adaptation for the big screen of Friedrich Schiller’s play stars Danish actor Claes Bang (The Square), Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson), Connor Swindells (Barbie, Sex Education), Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid, The Tattooist of Auschwitz) and Oscar winner Ben Kingsley (Schindler’s List, Iron Man).
The story takes place in the 14th century, “amidst the waning days of the Holy Roman Empire where Europe’s nations fiercely vie for supremacy and the ambitious Austrians, desiring more land, encroach upon Switzerland, a serene and pastoral nation.” William Tell, a formerly peaceful hunter, finds himself forced to take action as his family and homeland come under threat from the oppressive Austrian king and his ruthless warlords.

Lego Masters host Will Arnett kicked off the 2024 Fox Upfront by introducing most of the celebrity players for the new season, including Jon Hamm, Olivia Culpo, Tom Brady and of course Rob Lowe, who he introduced as coming straight from St. Elmo’s Fire.
What else happened at the presentation in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City? Read on.
Michael Strahan and Gordon Ramsay kicked off the show in the theater-in-the-sound setting, and it took all of 20 seconds before Ramsay dropped his first f-bomb. The duo riffed about their pairing as hosts and Ramsay cussed some more before they brought out Jeff Collins, President of Advertising Sales, Marketing and Brand Partnerships. “The Fox portfolio is designed to drive maximum impact for your brand,” he said in a statement that absolutely no one has ever heard before at a NY upfront.

In 2005, NFL Network sportscaster Rich Eisen and former Dever Broncos running back Terrell Davis were sitting in the stands of the RCA Dome in Indianapolis waiting for the NFL scouting combine to begin. In a fit of boredom, Eisen said out loud “I could run the 40-yard dash right now.” Davis scoffed at the idea, which only motivated Eisen to take up the challenge.
Dressed in a suit and tie, Eisen would take the field and run the dash, thinking nothing of it. Little did he know the cameras were rolling, and that night, his run would air on the NFL Network to thousands of viewers.
“[I was in] complete shock, but it was all in good fun,” recalls Eisen. “That’s the best part about doing a broadcast with a family. It’s just like any group of friends where you’re always ripe for being made fun of.”

Given its warm critical reception and past PGA and SAG Award notices, it makes sense that “Mr. Monk’s Last Case” has maintained a massive lead over its Best TV Movie competitors ever since we opened our 2024 Emmys predictions center. However, because the original “Monk” was never even nominated for Best Comedy Series during its eight-season run, the one-off Peacock continuation can’t exactly be considered a shoo-in. In truth, it faces quite a few strong challengers, including the laugh-packed Netflix offering “Unfrosted.”
Hours before its May 3 premiere, “Unfrosted” rose above its 100/1 Gold Derby odds and pulled ahead of both “Finestkind” and “Genie” to become this year’s seventh most likely TV movie nominee. Its next immediate challenge is passing sixth place runner “Scoop” (also from Netflix), which is currently a predicted nominee among our editors and experts.

This post contains spoilers for "Unfrosted."
As you might expect from its subject matter, Jerry Seinfeld's "Unfrosted," a film about the creation of the Pop-Tart, is an extremely silly comedy. It's also (very loosely) based on the real-world rivalry between Kellogg's and Post, and since the film chronicles the creation of a new product from a major company in the 1960s, the movie also contains a scene in which Don Draper and Roger Sterling from AMC's "Mad Men" drop by to pitch an advertising campaign for what would eventually be named the Pop-Tart. Yes, after dropping the mic in one of the most famous series finales of this century when "Mad Men" ended in 2015, actors Jon Hamm and John Slattery returned to reprise their most memorable roles in a goofy Netflix comedy.
Jon Hamm and John Slattery are the Ad Men. Watch the entire unbelievable Mad Men reunion in Unfrosted.

[This story includes spoilers for the Netflix movie Unfrosted.]
The buzz around Unfrosted is heating up, with Jerry Seinfeld’s heavily fictionalized Pop-Tart origin story now streaming on Netflix.
Seinfeld, who stars in the comedy movie that marks his feature directorial debut, also co-wrote the project’s screenplay. Contributing to the script was Spike Feresten, who worked with Seinfeld on the legendary NBC sitcom Seinfeld, with Feresten having penned one of the show’s most beloved and quotable episodes, “The Soup Nazi.”
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Feresten discussed some of the most memorable moments for the film that is set in 1963. This includes a plot point involving the Kellogg’s cereal mascots boycotting the company out of concern that the Pop-Tart will make them irrelevant, which leads to a sequence in which the mascots storm the company’s offices à la the attack on the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6, 2021.

Out in front is “Fargo” star and former drama lead winner Jon Hamm, who could also pick up dual supporting bids this year for the comedy and drama series “Good Omens” and “The Morning Show.”
Hamm would be the first actor to win this award for “Fargo,” following the unsuccessful bids of inaugural season cast members Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton and third season lead Ewan McGregor. As the star of “A Gentleman in Moscow,” McGregor happens to be seeking a second win in this category after being honored for “Halston” in 2021.
Others vying for bookend trophies here are Michael Douglas (“Franklin”; formerly of “Behind the Candelabra”) and Benedict Cumberbatch (“Eric”; “Sherlock”). Also in the mix is Tony Shalhoub,...

Taylor Sheridan is undoubtedly one of the most powerful voices in the TV space with his shows being the flagship entries of the Paramount+ network. Yellowstone became a sensation in 2018 and it has spawned several spin-offs including 1883 and 1923. The show is Sheridan’s masterpiece and none of his other shows have ever come close to its impact on audiences.

However, its inception was a different story altogether. By the 2010s, the Western genre had faded in popularity compared to the 50s-70s era. Yellowstone being in that genre created a lot of difficulty for Sheridan in convincing networks and studios to bankroll the project.

Jerry Seinfeld was delighted to join his friend Larry David for Curb Your Enthusiasm‘s finale, the comedian said this week, adding that the series’ Seinfeld tie-in helped elevate his own show’s conclusion.
“I think connecting the two finales [was the way to go],” Seinfeld told Vanity Fair. When Curb Your Enthusiasm concluded earlier this month, its series finale mirrored many of the details from Seinfeld‘s 1998 finale, with both shows featuring their main characters on trial for breaking a recondite local law. Seinfeld‘s final episode was written by David, and Seinfeld returned to play himself for the final installment of Curb.
Seinfeld said this week he told David yes right away upon being approached with the idea. “That just seemed like nothing but fun,” he said. “And I just love hanging out with Larry. We always just laugh all day long.”

Whether it’s the role of Buddy in Edgar Wright‘s Baby Driver or Cyclone in one of the biggest films of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, Jon Hamm is always one of the most attractive people on set. Similar was the case during his stint in his breakthrough show, Mad Men, which launched Hamm and his costar Christina Hendricks’ career to prominence.
But while Hamm was the most good-looking guy on the set, whose beauty left his costars awestruck, Hendricks’ beauty too became too much to handle for the crew on the set of Mad Men.

Mad Men is one of the most critically acclaimed drama series of all time. With a rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, on top of capturing a huge, dedicated audience, it managed to impress critics. The series is perfectly accurate to the 1960s and also has some very strong performances from its cast members. Despite all of its success, it was unfortunately unable to outrun one major criticism.

Craig Gillespie (Physical) is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce. Additionally, Emmy winners Greg Yaitanes and Stephanie Laing are set to direct three episodes each. The project reunites Lee and Tropper who worked together on Max’s Warrior, a series created by the latter. The project hails from Apple Studios.

Bae has most recently been seen in Fallout, Special Ops: Lioness and Blue Bloods. Additionally, she has appeared in the feature film Dakota, and on Broadway in the Tony-winning revival of The Skin of Our Teeth, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. She is repped by Boals, Winnett & Associates and Center Stage Management.

A star-studded group of veteran “Saturday Night Live” guest hosts were on hand this evening to welcome Kristen Wiig into the “Five-Timers Club.” But much to Wiig’s chagrin, most of them haven’t matched her feat of actually hosting “SNL” five times.
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member made her fifth appearance as host — having previously hit the stage in 2013, 2016 and twice in 2020.
The stolen “SNL” valor actually began with a legit five-timer: Paul Rudd, on hand to welcome her from the audience..
“As a former cast member, it is very special,” Wiig said. “I’m really excited about getting my jacket tonight… they don’t just hand the jackets off to anyone.”
Well, not quite. Soon more stars came out: Matt Damon, Jon Hamm, Martin Short, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Martin Short and Ryan Gosling. None of whom haven actually hosted five times yet.

Jon Hamm says the new Taylor Sheridan drama Landman is “halfway through” filming. News of the Sheridan-created project, which features Hamm alongside Demi Moore and Billy Bob Thornton, first made headlines last month.
“We’re already halfway through it,” Hamm told People this week. “It’s Taylor Sheridan and obviously it’s very well written. It’s very well-researched.”
Landman is Sheridan’s latest project at Paramount+, which includes his flagship Yellowstone (currently filming its final season), spinoffs 1923 and 1883 and, separately, Special Ops: Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
The new drama is adapted from the 11-part podcast Boomtown and is “an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling an [oil boom] so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics,” a description reads. The cast for the Billy Bob Thornton-led Landman from Taylor Sheridan on Paramount+ just added another heavy hitter to the cast.
Jon Hamm, who has been having a TV reawakening with roles on The Morning Show and Fargo and voice work on Grimsburg, has just joined the series in a recurring guest-starring role.
If you're a fan of Sheridan's productions, you know that might mean Hamm is on screen a lot or very little. Only time will tell.
Hamm's nuanced portrayal of adman Dan Draper on Mad Men put him at the top of everyone's list to work with, and he's reaping the rewards with roles that challenge his skills without pigeonholing the actor's talent.
When his name is added to a show, people pay attention, and his addition is an asset for an already stellar cast on Landman.

Actor and stand-up comedian Marlon Wayans is known for his sitcom, The Wayans Bros. and films like Little Man and White Chicks. The actor is also known for his appearances in the Scary Movie franchise. While known mostly for his comedic roles, the actor also tried his hand at drama with Darren Aronofsky’s harrowing drama, Requiem for a Dream.
One of the most interesting bits of trivia for the comic and actor was that he was signed onto play Robin in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns. The dark sequel to 1989’s Batman initially planned to introduce Robin to the franchise, and Wayans would have a larger role in the threequel. Will Ferrell and Steve Carell make unlikely, AI-assisted cameos in the Jon Hamm-narrated Super Bowl Lviii trailer for Despicable Me 4.

Warning: The following post contains spoilers about tonight’s fifth season finale of FX’s Fargo, “Bisquik”
Who knew a TV series based on an iconic Oscar-winning Coen Brothers noir movie had so much juice in it five seasons out?
But Fargo series creator Noah Hawley continues to prove that there’s a thousand bodies buried in those Minnesota snow drifts.
Granted, M.A.S.H. ran for 11 seasons; the industry joke being that the CBS show ran longer than the actual three-year Korean War. But similar to how Larry Gelbart pulled a relentless amount of inspiration from that 1970 Robert Altman, Hawley’s mind for ‘true stories’ about folksy Scandinavian-Midwesterners isn’t blank yet like a freshly fallen snow.
Typically, especially in streaming times, a series checks out around season 3, and to see Fargo in a renaissance, testosterone mode this season has even given Hawley a new sense of hope for the FX series.

The four-month delay to accommodate the writers’ and actors’ strikes put Monday night’s ceremony right in the middle of the winter awards race, which would always pose a problem — between our nightly dose of NFL games and awards shows crowding every weekend, there are simply too many live events in January — but the move felt especially discombobulating in 2024. These Emmy nominees weren’t just a year old; they dated back to June 2022. That means recent contenders we just saw at the Golden Globes or among the SAG nominations — like Emma Stone in “The Curse” and Jon Hamm for “Fargo” — weren’t eligible.
Hamm, bless his soul, still showed up as a presenter, but he wasn’t even introduced as the current star of an FX anthology series, nor as the upcoming voice actor and executive producer of Fox’s own “Grimsburg.

We don't have to wonder if Grimsburg will be cancelled right now. Fox renewed the show for a second season ahead of the series premiere. Will the execs regret that early vote of confidence? Will Grimsburg be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned.

There's a mystery the great detective can't crack in the first season of the Grimsburg TV show on Fox. Three episodes into Fox’s animated comedy Grimsburg, I found myself reflecting on how quintessentially Will Arnett this latest Will Arnett role was. A self-loathing, alcohol-abusing detective trying and failing to get back into his family’s good graces, Marvin Flute is an amalgamation of some of the actor’s biggest roles: a little bit Bojack Horseman, a little bit Lego Batman, a little bit Terry Seattle from Murderville.
But Flute isn’t actually played by Will Arnett. He’s played by Jon Hamm, for some reason doing an overt imitation of Will Arnett. I’d known it was Jon Hamm, even, and I just forgot because that’s how well Hamm nails Arnett’s voice — the gravel texture, the snappy cadence, the whining edge. As a creative choice, it’s somehow at once low-key bizarre and disappointingly predictable. Which, come to think of it, could also describe Grimsburg in a nutshell.
