After two years of being constantly on the road, it's only now that singer-songwriter Yendry has been able to come up for air. Being on the go has meant not always having the time to reflect back on how far she's come. But these days, the 29-year-old is working on remaining present and is grateful for all she's accomplished thus far - making a name for herself as an artist with hit singles in a number of genres and collaborating with the likes of Damian Marley and J Balvin.
"I was recently creating a Pdf of everything I did in the past two years, and I realized it was a lot," Yendry tells Popsugar. "When you're in it and you're just working, sometimes it's hard to just stop, breathe in, let in, and realize what you have achieved. I'm definitely feeling good - a little bit tired -but it's a good tired.

The Latin music industry had another massive year in 2022, seeing a 35 percent growth in revenue, according to the RIAA. That momentum shows no signs of slowing down as artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G continue topping the charts and selling out massive tours — and there are even more rising stars right at their heels, ready to take the music even farther.
2022 had plenty of breakout acts from across Latin America and the diaspora. Uncompromising and unapologetically honest artists such as Tokischa and Villano Antillano saw massive success, while rappers...

Yendry has been on fire these days. The artist on the rise, who was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to Dominican parents and was raised in Italy since the age of 4, has been nonstop since her career took off in 2019. Her music - which incorporates everything from afrobeats, reggaeton, and R&b while embracing both her Caribbean and European influences - is precisely what makes her stand out from the masses. While singles like "Barrio" and "Nena" are what put her on the map, in the past year alone, Yendry has released a series of songs - like "You," "Instinto," and "Mascarade" in collaboration with artists like J Balvin, reggae legend Damian Marley, and Congolese Belgian singer Lous and the Yakuza - that really speak to her range and musical genius. The best part is she's just getting started. On Friday, May 6, the singer-songwriter released her latest single,...

This Fear the Walking Dead review contains spoilers.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 5
Sitting down to write this review of “Till Death,” I was surprised that the word count for just my notes was a whopping 1,400 words. While I tend to take very extensive notes for each episode, what sets “Till Death” apart is that much of my notes is devoted to ranting. Much of my frustration (as both reviewer and fan) stems from my disappointment with this season’s aimlessness. Why should viewers care about solving a 40-year-old murder case, or Sarah’s sudden interest in finding Wendell? Those both felt like filler episodes to me, and “Till Death” likewise does little to advance the overall story.
Austin Amelio and Christine Evangelista give this week’s tepid, nonsensical script their all, but even so, why should we care about the Dark Horses and their code? Does it really...

Jamaican singer-songwriter Protoje attributes his unique sound — a hip-hop/reggae fusion — to hip-hop’s “flow and patterns,” which influenced his music taste at a young age. In the latest installment of Rolling Stone’s “The First Time,” he cites Kanye West and producer Just Blaze as inspirations for his distinct style after hearing them sample R&b and soul records in hip-hop songs. “I was like, ‘Maybe I could sample old reggae or [Los] Rakas type of songs and give them an updated bop to it’ …that was about 2005.”

"We're not the war on drugs, we're fighting the war on drugs." Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for a documentary titled Grass is Greener, a fascinating new doc film examining America's complicated relationship with marijuana. The grass definitely is greener. Directed by iconic hip hop artist / filmmaker known as "Fab 5 Freddy", the very timely film discusses pot's influence on pop culture / music, as well as the devastating impact its criminalization has had on black and Latino communities. Featuring appearances by Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill's B-Real, Damian Marley, and plenty of other "celebrities and experts" who enjoy the greatness of cannabis. With legalization quickly taking over America (and the world?), there's more talk about marijuana - with docs like Breaking Habits and Spike Jonze's The New Normal. Light it up. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Fab 5 Freddy's doc Grass is Greener, from Netflix's YouTube: Weed. Marijuana.

In the latest example of music business figures entering the rapidly expanding cannabis business, Roc Nation co-founder and CEO Jay Brown has joined the Board of Directors of MedMen, the aggressive farm-to-counter retail chain dubbed the Apple Store or Starbucks of pot dispensaries.
Twenty-year music industry veteran Brown, who has worked with partner Jay-z to develop the careers of any number of Grammy-recognized artists (among them Rihanna and DJ Khaled), joins the likes of Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Melissa Etheridge and Damian Marley in promoting cannabis enterprises.
MedMen co-founder and CEO Adam Bierman reiterated the company’s lifestyle approach to selling cannabis. “Marijuana today is less about smoking a joint, and much more about culture,” he said in announcing Brown’s arrival. “It is about healthier, safer choices for mind and body, and community. For more than two decades, Jay Brown has had his finger on the pulse of pop culture.

It had been rumored that Jay-z would take advantage of his spot as the musical guest on the season 43 premiere of “SNL” to make a political statement related to the NFL player protests that reached a fever pitch this past week. And a statement he did make, stepping on stage to perform “Bam” with Damian Marley, while wearing a a football jersey sporting Colin Kaepernick’s number 7 and the name “Colin K” on the back. It was not, however, an officially sanctioned NFL jersey, but rather a blank generic jersey with no team name or logo. Obviously, “Colin K” is.

For fans hoping that Jay-z’s new album, 4:44, would address Beyonce’s Lemonade -- more specifically, the themes of infidelity and family drama in the diva’s award-winning 2016 visual album -- the rapper wasted no time, getting in deep on the album’s very first song.
The internet blew up immediately after 4:44 was released exclusively to Tidal and Sprint customers on Thursday night, with many pointing to lyrics in the first track, “Kill Jay-z,” that seem to address both Lemonade and the rapper’s infamous elevator spat with Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, after the 2014 Met Gala.
"You egged Solange on,” Jay rhymes, “knowing all along all you had to say you was wrong."

Burning Man 2016 came and went without a hitch, hosting a number of top notch dance artists along the way. Camp Questionmark served as a cornerstone for the festival’s dance music lineup, with sets from Rusko, The Glitch Mob, Diplo, GRiZ, and Skrillex. Thankfully, a number of videos have now surfaced with footage from the event, giving viewers who didn’t make it out to Black Rock City this year a chance to witness the festivities.
A YouTube user named Kenny Hoff has uploaded more than sixty videos from Camp Questionmark, most notably delivering a number of live clips from Skrillex’s DJ set. The bass music pioneer brought an expectedly high octane set to the festival, dropping a number of his best known tunes like his remix of Nero’s “Promises,” “Make It Bun Dem” with Damian Marley, and “Summit” with Ellie Goulding. It’s reassuring that even after spending a large chunk of 2015 making radio-ready pop music with the likes of Justin Bieber, Skrillex can still throw down a set of bone-rattling bass music when the situation calls for it.
Now that Edc Brasil has wrapped up, a direct recording of his performance at the festival has begun making its rounds on social media, and it’s definitely worth watching. Mixing grating bass wobbles with saccharine melodies and borderline chipmunk-esque vocals in the style that Skrillex is known for, the performance succeeded in energizing the thousands-deep crowd in attendance on the evening he played.
Replete with remixes and edits of tracks from the likes of of Avicii, Fetty Wap and A$AP Ferg as well as a whole host of originals, his set made for a spirited return to the style that made him famous back in 2010-2011.

She also included a link to her Tumblr page, where she posted side-by-side screenshots of her stage show and the Grammys' Marley tribute, which featured performances by Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Sting and the late reggae icon's sons, Damian Marley...

What if the Grammy Awards gave a Bob Marley tribute and no one sang a Bob Marley song?
That's what it looked like for about two-thirds of a set that was supposed to honor the late, great reggae artist. Bruno Mars and Sting kicked off the performance by singing not anything from Marley's massive catalog, but their own songs: Mars did "Locked Out of Heaven," and Sting did The Police's "Walking on the Moon."
You could argue that both songs are at least a little bit reggae-influenced -- or a lot, in the case of "Walking on the Moon." But even though Mars threw in, "None of this would be possible without Bob Marley" at the end of their two songs, it felt forced and strange to try to make that tenuous connection.

Guidelines be damned! Rihanna’s girls were out in full force on the Grammys — and it looked cold on that red carpet.
Rihanna‘s not exactly known for her conservative wardrobe, but she took it to a whole new level Feb. 10 at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. RiRi stepped out in a custom Alaia gown that not only showed off her enviable curves, but her nips as well!
(Yeah, we said “nips.” Let’s all be mature here.)
But RiRi didn’t just put on a show on the carpet; she also took to the stage later in the evening. She was one of several performers — Bruno Mars, Sting, Ziggy and Damian Marley were also on the bill — who paid tribute to the late, great Bob Marley.
