Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” The show premiered on April 25th (you can read our review Here) – and to mark the occasion, a new addition to the team here at JoBlo.com, Kyanna Mondezie, was given the opportunity to conduct interviews with several members of the cast: George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, Kassius Nelson, and Yuyu Kitamura. You can hear what they had to say about their experience working on the show by checking out the video embedded above. Also interviewed were series creator Steve Yockey and showrunner Beth Schwartz.

Roll over Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, there’s a new Ssu in town — the Sandman Streaming Universe. Check out the first full trailer for the new horror-mystery series below:

In what may be the first of many big delays in this dual-strike era, ABC has decided to hold High Potential, its new, Kaitlin Olson-led detective drama, for fall of next year.
In the wake of the WGA strike being settled but SAG-AFTRA still at the hypothetical bargaining table, there has been speculation that the broadcast networks may opt to forego fast-tracking abbreviated seasons of 13 (or far fewer episodes) that dribble out in late winter/spring and instead sit tight and launch full, robust seasons next fall.

Last November, it was announced that Alexander Calvert (Supernatural) would be playing Thomas the Cat King in the pilot for the HBO Max series based on Dead Boy Detectives, characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25. Back in April, HBO Max ordered eight episodes of the series. But today, Variety has broken the news that we won’t be seeing Calvert as Thomas the Cat King when the series reaches the streaming service. Calvert has been replaced by Lukas Gage, whose previous credits include Euphoria, The White Lotus, Into the Dark: Midnight Kiss, and Love, Victor.
Thomas the Cat King will be a series regular on Dead Boy Detectives. The character has the following description: “When Thomas doesn’t hold the appearance of a handsome man full of entitlement or holding court with his subjects he can be seen strutting around town as an attractive Siamese cat.

The mystery of the Dead Boy Detectives‘ future has been solved, with HBO Max officially ordering the Doom Patrol offshoot to series.
An eight-episode horror detective series developed using elements of DC’s The Sandman and Dead Boy Detectives comics, the show is described as a “fresh take on a ghost story that explores loss, grief, and death through the lens of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two dead British teenagers, and their very alive friend, Crystal Palace. So, it’s a lot like a vintage detective series — only darker and on acid.”

Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant) has been tapped as the lead in The Continental, Starz’s TV series prequel to the Keanu Reeves film franchise John Wick. Woodell, who will play Winston Scott, the younger version of Ian McShane’s character from the John Wick films, joins Mel Gibson in the three-night special-event TV series, produced by Lionsgate Television.
The Continental explores the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins, a centerpiece of the John Wick universe, through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott (Woodell) who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Like the Lead Comedy Actor group, this category only sports five nominees, including veterans Tracee Ellis Ross and Allison Janney, but also two new HBO Max shows providing sensational roles for a couple of TV sitcom veterans. Deservedly, the Emmy last year went to Catherine O’Hara of Schitt’s Creek, showing that voters do like to honor their icons when they can. However, this is a category that usually resists change: Julia Louis Dreyfus won it six times in a row for Veep, and Candice Bergen took it five times in a row for Murphy Brown. This year there is one former Emmy winner who carries the odds to be back in the winner’s circle for a new show that broke just as the season came to an end. Here is the rundown of the nominees and then scroll down for the predicted winner, followed by analysis and a predicted...

Last Year’s Winner: Catherine O’Hara, “Schitt’s Creek”
Still Eligible: No.
Hot Streak: It may seem like only yesterday, but it’s been four years now since Julia Louis-Dreyfus won her sixth straight Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, all of which were bestowed for her work on “Veep.” Since then, three different actors have won — Rachel Brosnahan for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Phoebe Waller-Bridge for “Fleabag,” and Catherine O’Hara for “Schitt’s Creek.” With O’Hara ineligible in 2021, there will be a new victor for the fourth consecutive Emmy season.
Fun Fact: Of the 15 TV shows to win multiple times in the Best Actress in a Comedy category, only three crowned more than one performer: Shelly Long and Kirstie Alley both won for “Cheers,” Ruth Gordon and Carol Kane won for “Taxi,” and three of the “Golden Girls” took home the Lead Actress trophy: Betty White,...
