Roy Urbanozo
- Actor
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Roy Urbanozo is a Canadian-Filipino actor and voice actor based out of Toronto. His exposure to the arts and entertainment sector while growing up in the city allowed him to accrue more than 15 years of experience in the industry to date. As a performer, Roy got his first break at 4 years old playing Tam in the 1993 Mirvish Production of Miss Saigon at the Princess of Wales Theatre - cast by award-winning Casting Director, Stephanie Gorin.
But despite taking a backseat to acting roles until the late 2010s, he continued to divulge his interests in the arts in other ways. The first was climbing the corporate ladder at Cineplex Inc., Canada's largest cinema chain, where he observed the film industry through exclusive access to screenings and the chance to work with other affiliates such as the Toronto International Film Festival. The second was involving himself in Toronto's commercial dance scene. He pushed himself as a performer, having been on stage for various artists including Canadian Idol finalist Mikey Bustos. Roy also gained traction as a personality in the community and used that platform to start The Dance Plug - an online magazine offering resources, advocacy and community support for dancers across the country - and growing the initiative to more than 15,000 followers on Instagram alone. On top of this, his reputation has given him opportunities to serve multiple dance studios, competitions and conventions.
Roy returned to the film and television industry in 2018 as a background performer, and booking his first role as a Tetris Player in 1UP, directed by American filmmaker Kyle Newman. Since then, he has become a proud ACTRA member through consistent on-screen experience. His most recent work includes a Stand-In role in Rabbit Hole (CBS/Paramount) and as a Photo Double in What We Do In The Shadows (FX Networks).
He continues to develop his acting skills by taking classes and workshops both virtually and in-person. When he's not in front of a camera, you can find him behind one as a photographer and digital content creator.
