Producer Lauren Versel dished the dirt on the new comedy about two women vampires in the big city, and it's being called a "chick flick."
We've been so excited about this movie since we first heard the news, and it not only reunites Clueless star Alicia Silverstone with director Amy Heckerling, but Sigourney Weaver has a part as mean vampire villain named Cisserus who "made" Silverstone's character, "Goody", a vampire. Her roomate, "Stacey" is played by Kristyn Ritter.
Why is it being called a "chick flick"? because it stars two chicks and is directed by a chick. However, I wish people would see a film, or even a trailer, before putting something in that generally derogatory category. Director Heckerling made Clueless, the 1990s teenage interpretation of Jane Austen's Emma, and it was a hit with boys And girls because it was fucking funny.

Like Creepy said when he wrote up the recent news story about Richard Lewis joining the cast of Amy Heckerling's horror comedy Vamps, a lot of us prefer our genre fare to stick to the serious side, but considering Heckerling's track record, I'm willing to give Vamps a shot. And the news that Kristen Johnston has joined the cast only increases the likelihood of the film being a winner.
Written and directed by Heckerling, Vamps tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality. Filming will begin next week in Detroit, Michigan.

Actress Kristen Johnston (Third Rock from the Sun) has joined the cast of writer/director Amy Heckerling’s new feature film Vamps.
Comedy director Heckerling, best known for the 1990's awesome teenage Alicia Silverstone flick Clueless, is in preproduction on this new horror comedy. Vamps tells the modern day tale of two young beautiful female vampires living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality.
Johnston joins Alicia Silverstone and Krysten Ritter, already on board as two young vampires and Sigourney Weaver, who plays the role of Cisserus, a bloodthirsty “stem” vampire who has created a dynasty. Johnston plays Mrs. Van Helsing, a posh British woman who is suspicious of her son's new love interest Stacey (Ritter).
This film, clearly made with a female audience in mind, may be the comedic, satric, and silly response...

Comedy is said to be the perfect compliment to horror. Personally? I disagree. I like my horror serious and insane, but alas, I'm in the minority. A new cast member has signed on to Amy Heckerling's horror comedy Vamps that is sure to get some laughs in between all the biting!
According to The Hollywood Reporter comedian Richard Lewis has signed on the project to star opposite Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, and the baddest cougar in the land, the always sexy Sigourney Weaver.
In the film Ritter and Silverstone play New York socialite vampires whose freewheeling lifestyles are tripped up when blood is pumped into their romantic lives. Weaver stars as the queen vamp who turned them into creatures of the night. Lewis will play a former student activist who works as an Aclu lawyer. Red Hour Films is producing with Lauren Versel of Lucky Monkey Pictures and Molly Hassell.

Screen Daily reports that Silverstone and Heckerling will work in a sub-genre that shall become stale once the Twilight series is over and done with. Silverstone will join the well cast Krysten Ritter in Vamps - a modern-day tale of two female vampires who live it up in New York until love enters the picture, when each has to make a choice that will jeopardise their immortality. - You can be forgiven if you feel that you've lost track of the Clueless pairing Alicia Silverstone and Amy Heckerling. They were once at the top of the film world, the year was 1995 and then both filmographies would eventually include television work (here's a retro Charlie Rose clip of Heckerling). The filmmaker tried a comeback, not to long ago -- but got screwed over by the distribution company in charge of 2007's I Could Never Be Your Woman. Screen Daily...

Yes, she's coming back! ScreenDaily (via SlashFilm) is reporting that Alicia Silverstone will be reuniting with Clueless director Amy Heckerling for her upcoming vampire love movie Vamps. The project was first announced last November, described as a "romantic comedy with vampires." The script, by Heckerling, focuses on two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality. From the director of Clueless? Sounds fun! And with the star of Clueless, too? Even better! I already like this more than Diablo Cody's Sweet Valley High. Silverstone will play one of the vampires opposite Krysten Ritter (last seen in "Breaking Bad" and "Woke Up Dead"), who is making her first feature starring role. Production is set to begin in April. Red Hour Films, Lucky Monkey Pictures partners Lauren Versel and Maria Teresa Arida,...
