Ali Javan, director and writer, was born in 1988 in Tehran. He graduated from the University of Arts in Tehran in 2006 with a degree in directing and began his career with great Iranian filmmakers such as Massoud Kimiaei and Abbas Kiarostami.
In 2010, Ali Javan started writing and directing plays such as Professor Hegele's Laboratory. In parallel, he creates advertisements for several companies in Iran. In 2018, he wrote and directed the short film The Lock, which was presented in several festivals and won the Black Bird Short Film Festival Award in New York. He moved to Paris in 2019 and worked for 360 Paris Music Factory, Music production and label, as an audio-visual manager and director of concerts and clips. He directed "From Kaboul to Bamako" a reportage on a collective of artists in exile performing at the Venice Film Festival in 2020
For the script of the feature film Parastoo - La Gitane, he combines theater, music and cinema to tell several intertwined stories. Through fiction, he tells the real stories of the women of Iran, and more globally of the humans who flee their country in pursuit of their dreams. He uses art to highlight the situation of the world around us.
