There’s a poorly kept secret amongst cancer fighters and survivors: we always manage to find each other. It’s kind of like how you see your ex’s car everywhere after a breakup -- even if you want to run as far away as possible, the C-word constantly pops up, like a neon sign with Energizer Bunny-like regenerative powers.
Though Charles Esten himself is not a cancer survivor, he is the caregiver of one. When the Nashville star’s daughter, Addie, was two-and-a-half years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia. Now almost 18, Addie is thriving, dominating the soccer field on a national-level team and getting ready to play the sport at a D-1 college. But the fact that Esten's baby girl had to go through such a harrowing experience so early in her life has remained with him.
“Everything is made more magical. That's the strange thing of going through such hardship, is the sparkle...

Since Merle Haggard’s death a year ago, his widow, Theresa, says the pain of the loss has been so difficult that she hasn’t been able to turn on a radio for fear of hearing his songs. “It’s been hard,” she says, “to even look at pictures because it’s been too emotional.”
All that changed on Thursday night, as she stood on stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena – behind her, a billboard-size portrait of her husband, in front of her, a sea of fans eager for a reminder that Hag lives on in his music.

It’s 2017 — but women still make just 80 cents to a man’s dollar.
And for some women, it’s even worse: While non-Hispanic white women make 83 centers for every dollar, Black women make just 66 cents, and Hispanic women even lower than that, at 60 cents, according to a 2016 study.
Since 1996, we’ve been recognizing this inequality with Equal Pay Day, April 4. The day is meant to mark how far into a year the average American woman would have to work to make what a male colleague made in the previous year.
And for Hollywood and Washington, it’s a day to speak out on the cause.

You'll find shiny trophies and colorful guitars at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's new exhibit honoring Alabama. You'll even see a complete list of their astonishing 32 Billboard No. 1 hits. But one thing is noticeably scarce: their stage wear. Unless you count a pair of grimy, stained sneakers worn - or rather worn out - by bass guitarist Teddy Gentry. Yet those shoes go a long way in telling the story of the Hall of Famers, who soared in the '80s by blazing a Southern rock trail at a time when pop-country ruled the charts. In addition to forging a new sound,...

Meat Loaf probably won't be serenading Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) anytime soon.
After Meat Loaf "performed" "America the Beautiful" at a recent event for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, a TMZ photographer caught up with McCain in Washington, D.C., on Friday and asked if he thought they should "change up the song sometimes?"
"Change the song? Or have someone who knows the words?" McCain responded. "Maybe either. That's a good choice."

Brad Paisley has always had a soft spot for Alabama - both the band and the state - and now he's coming to the aid of people in the south who have had their lives turned upside down by the devastating tornados there. Paisley, 38, has decided to donate all artist royalties of digital singles sales in the U.S. from his current hit song, "Old Alabama," to tornado relief via the American Red Cross. When the country star wrote the record, he had no idea how timely it would be. In fact, he meant it as a tribute to the iconic superstar country-rock band Alabama.

This evening, the college football season will come to a close at the conclusion of the Bcs National Championship Game, the contest that will decide who is the best team among the handful of schools allowed to participate in a broken system.
But like it or not, either Alabama or Texas will be able to raise their collective fists and be called the last team standing. Despite the fact that we have a number of hardcore Florida Gators fans in the MTV Newsroom (including the people behind Hollywood Crush and Splash Page), we don't know a whole lot about college football. But what we do know is music, which is why we think we know exactly who is going to take the title.
Tonight isn't just about two football teams — it's about two bands that have never waged war before but really, really should. We're talking about country-rock legends Alabama and Scottish future-poppers Texas.
