With production now underway on Noah Baumbach’s next feature for Netflix in New York (before heading to London), the full ensemble has been unveiled. While currently untitled, reports indicate the drama, described as a “funny and emotional coming-of-age film about adults,” could be titled Jay Kelly.
Joining George Clooney and Adam Sandler in the feature are Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Riley Keough, Greta Gerwig, Jim Broadbent, Patrick Wilson, Emily Mortimer, Lars Eidinger, Grace Edwards, Patsy Ferran, Isla Fisher, Thaddea Graham, Josh Hamilton, Eve Hewson, Stacy Keach, Nicôle Lecky, Louis Partridge, Alba Rohrwacher, and Charlie Rowe.
Aside from Gerwig, of course, the film marks a number of reunions for Baumbach, including his Marriage Story star Dern, his White Noise star Lars Eidinger, his Kicking and Screaming star Josh Hamilton, and he also wrote the script with Mortimer. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing the film, which we expect will get a 2025 release.

Exclusive: The race to replace Ralph Lee at the helm of BBC Studios Productions is underway, with the studio signaling its ambition by approaching some of the UK’s top unscripted executives.
Lee will step down as the CEO of BBC Studios Productions next month after a six-year stint to “pursue a new challenge” but Deadline is told that headhunter Russell Reynolds Associates is already scoping out successors.
The successful candidate will run a production unit that contributed heavily to BBC Studios’ £1.6B ($2B) content revenue last year, overseeing hits including Good Omens, Strictly Come Dancing, and David Attenborough’s natural history tentpoles.
Deadline understands that Russell Reynolds has held tentative early conversations with potential candidates including Stv Studios managing director David Mortimer, ITV Studios unscripted director Angela Jain and Karl Warner, Channel 4’s outgoing head of youth and digital.

On October 21, 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed in a tragic on-set accident during the production of the Alec Baldwin film, "Rust." While preparing for a scene as the film's director of photography, Baldwin discharged a live round from a Pietta .45 Colt revolver, which was being used as a prop, injuring director Joel Souza and fatally wounding Hutchins. On February 15, 2022, Hutchins' family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin (who also served as a producer) and other crew members on "Rust," alleging that her death was wholly preventable and the result of cost-cutting safety measures and irresponsible on-set behavior. Legal proceedings have been ongoing ever since, but today, on-set armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, as reported by Variety.
As the on-set armorer, it was Gutierrez Reed's responsibility for the safe handling of firearms on set, and was the one who loaded the live bullet into the gun used by Baldwin.

Netflix's "Painkiller" tells the story of how one family built a business that helped launch the opioid crisis, and how they evaded real consequences for a long time even amid ongoing legal struggles. The limited series, which premieres on Aug. 10, is based on Patrick Radden Keefe's 2017 New Yorker article "The Family That Built an Empire of Pain" and Barry Meier's book "Pain Killer: An Empire of Deceit and the Origin of America's Opioid Epidemic," which both chronicle how Purdue Pharma - led by the Sackler family - obscured the truth about their product OxyContin.
Are the Characters in "Painkiller" Based on Real People?
"Painkiller" is a scripted series, but it sticks closely to real-life events as it traces the rise and fall of the Sackler family's empire. Most of its main characters are fictional, including Edie Flowers (Uzo Aduba), a lawyer from Virginia who, in the series,...

Headed our way this winter is the next horror movie from director Charlie Steeds (The Barge People), the Lovecraftian creature feature Freeze from Dark Temple Motion Pictures.
The arctic horror movie won the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival’s Best Film Award 2022, which gives it some legit Lovecraft cred. You can watch the official trailer for Freeze below.
“On a rescue mission to the North Pole to retrieve an old friend and his lost expedition crew, Captain Mortimer gets more than he bargained for when his ship is frozen into the ice sheet and set upon by bloodthirsty fish-creatures. Mortimer and his surviving crew flee the ship, beginning a treacherous journey to find safety in a frozen desolate wilderness.
“Suffering from starvation, frostbite and a slow madness, they find shelter inside a snowy mountain, but are they as safe as they think, or have they entered the heart of the creatures lair.

These directors, who have never won an Emmy, may finally get a chance at a nomination and perhaps a win with these buzzy series.
Karyn Kusama
It’s been 20 years since Kusama made her directorial debut, but she’s yet to receive an Emmy nomination. The “Jennifer’s Body” director stepped behind the camera for the pilot episode of this year’s breakout drama “Yellowjackets” on Showtime.
Lorene Scafaria
Best known for writing and directing 2019’s “Hustlers,” Scafaria helmed the seventh episode of the latest season of HBO’s massive hit, “Succession.” Titled “Too Much Birthday,” the heart-wrenching episode, which centered on Kendall’s lavish 40th birthday party, could — and should — also get recognition for production design done by Stephen H. Carter.
Cherien Dabis
Dabis is at the helm of the seventh episode of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building,” perfectly titled “The Boy From 6B.” The hour both moves...
