Was one half of the group 'Shakespeares Sister' with Siobhan Fahey.
Started her music career in the early 1970s, as a backing vocalist for Bob Seger and Leon Russell. In 1974 she joined Eric Clapton's backing band until 1978. She then worked extensively as a session vocalist until the late 80's, when she joined Shakespear's Sister.
Co-wrote Eric Clapton's song "Lay Down Sally", which peaked at #3 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978.
She took the stage name Marcella Detroit in honor of her hometown, when she joined Shakespear's Sister in 1989, to symbolize a new phase in her career.
