Help make the Red Dwarf Lego set a reality...
Bob Turner is a man on a mission. That mission? To get a Lego Red Dwarf set through the Lego ideas system. And he needs your help.
The idea of Lego Ideas – which helped spawn the newly-released Doctor Who Lego set, amongst many others – is that people submit ideas for sets, and if enough interest is generated, they go up for proper consideration. Not everything that generates sufficient interest makes it to stores (there are copyright issues that often get in the way, for a start). Yet a growing number do.
Already, Bob Turner has attracted 6620 supporters, but he needs to get to the 10,000 level.
What does he need, then? Just a tap of the support button from you on the Lego Ideas site. You have to sign up to the site first, but if you do, and give the requisite support,...

Bloody hell, I knew it was a mistake to watch a film starring Mark Hamill neither playing Luke Skywalker nor voicing The Joker.
I’m always one to give Video On Demand (VOD) films their fair shot, as sometimes it’s just a matter of lesser known foreign films or surprise independent hits getting proper distribution, but then again there are some films that are just so bad they don’t deserve a theatrical release in the slightest.
Airborne is one of those films, being a rancid airplane thriller which flaunts itself as a brutal horror watch. Unless just the sight of flying sends you into a tizzy, Dominic Burns’ empty thriller will leave you scrambling for a parachute and a quick access escape, jumping to safety while avoiding the entire monotonous flight. Even if there isn’t a parachute, jumping still is probably the better option, sadly.

Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch, a Democrat who endorsed Republican Bob Turner in New York's 9th District special election for the Anthony Weiner seat to "send a message to Obama to take a stronger position in support of Israel," told MSNBC's Rev. Al Sharpton last night that he is "back on board the bus," and will campaign for the President's reelection. Koch recounted, for Sharpton's PoliticsNation viewers, the conversation he had with the President that changed his mind.

The wake of the Weinergate scandal appears to have left yet another victim: the Democratic Party. Last night's special election for NY's 9th district saw Republican Bob Turner take the congressional seat suddenly vacated this summer by Anthony Weiner's resignation. It's clearly an upset in the traditionally Democratic district, and already the news media have called it a "referendum on Obama." But does that tell the whole story?...

People assume that New York City is uniformly Democratic. But as Michael Tomasky points out, Anthony Weiner's district is now in danger of tipping toward the Republicans.
Just as conventional wisdom was starting to conclude that the Democrats might have a serious chance of winning back the House in 2012, Nancy Pelosi gets hit with the Anthony Weiner revelations. She immediately called for an ethics investigation because she had to-she was staring at days of stories in which she'd be asked why she hadn't made such a demand (an experience she lived through with regard to Charlie Rangel). But Pelosi has another potential problem that no one has yet focused on: holding on to Weiner's district.

That's right. Everyone hears "New York City congressional district" and thinks automatically that it has to be solidly Democratic. Most of them are.
