I must admit that I have a big ole soft spot for movies that take place in abandoned mental asylums, especially when they're actually shot inside real ones. Such is the case with Eloise, and we've got all the spooky details for ya today!
Per Deadline, Eliza Dushku, Chace Crawford, Brandon T. Jackson and Pj Byrne have all been cast in the Robert Legato-directed thriller, which begins shooting on May 5th.
Written by Chris Borrelli (The Vatican Tapes), the film is set in a defunct insane asylum known as “Eloise.” Four friends break into the abandoned institution in hopes of finding a death certificate, which will provide Jacob (Crawford) with the rights to a sizable inheritance. While inside the asylum, the group not only finds that the institution houses a horrifying history but also the truth about their own tragic pasts.

British helmer Phil Claydon has signed on to direct "Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire," a New Line comedy being produced by Contrafilm's Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson with Mason Novick.
Conceived as a light-hearted homage to 1980s action thriller such as "Cobra" and "Missing in Action," "Badass" centers on a tight-jeans-wearing, matchstick-chewing man stuck with an '80s mentality while kicking some modern-day butt. New Line picked up the script -- written as a spec by Chad Kultgen -- last year as its first acquisition after entering the Warner Bros. fold.
Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and David Neustadter are overseeing for New Line. Contrafilm vp Lisa Zambri is overseeing for the shingle.
Claydon directed "Lesbian Vampire Killers," a horror comedy that generated comparisons to "Shaun of the Dead." "Killers" hasn't gotten a U.S. theatrical release but has developed a cult in England.

New Line has made its first purchase since being downsized, plunking down $500,000 against $1 million for "Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire", a comedy spec script by Chad Kultgen.
Contrafilm's Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing along with Mason Novick.
"It's a homage to 'Cobra, ' 'Predator, ' 'Missing in Action, ' " Flynn said. "The baddest dude in the world in supertight jeans, chewing on a matchstick, stuck in the '80s but kicking ass in the present day."
The buy is significant because it shows that New Line is serious about remaining a buyer while also signaling the type of movies it will look to make.
Flynn said the project will be an R-rated comedy in the spirit of "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and "Wedding Crashers", the kind of movie that "classic" New Line was good at making and that the new iteration will be making as well.

Making its first comedy acquisition under new chairman Mary Parent and the first acquisition involving newly hired executive vp production Cale Boyter, MGM has picked up Ben Wexler's comedy spec Bobism.
Producing are Contrafilm's Tripp Vinson and Beau Flynn. Adam F. Goldberg is also producing.
In Bobism, a shy college kid learns that his blog will be the basis for a utopian society in 1,000 years. He also finds out that aliens from the future want to kill him and prevent that utopia from happening.
"Ben Wexler found a way to cleverly combine comedy, action and sci-fi genres and play them real," Vinson said.
Added Flynn: "If 'Midnight Run' and 'Terminator' got married and birthed a 'Superbad' child, this would be that movie."
Contrafilm's Lisa Zambri also is expected to act in a producer capacity. Boyter and MGM vp production Becky Sloviter will oversee.
Contrafilm is producing Choke, an adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel, and is developing action-thriller Conrail at New Line.
Wexler is a longtime TV writer who met Goldberg when he worked for four seasons on CBS' Still Standing. The two developed the script before partnering with Contrafilm.

- Among the advantages of being an actor who is casting the leads for his directorial debut is being able to call up buddies an asking for that favor or having the ability of knowing first-hand who can deliver on screen. In a casting choice that seems fit, as recently proven in his performance in Snow Angels, if there is someone who knows how to plays addiction it is the off-center talent of thesp Sam Rockwell. Rockwell and Anjelica Huston, Kelly Macdonald and Brad Henke are climbing aboard the Chuck Palahniuk novel to big screen adaptation of Choke – a film that actor Clark Gregg has been prepping for a while now. Principal photography begins this week in New Jersey. Based on the New York Times best-seller, this falls in the vein of the black comedy and follows Victor Mancini (Rockwell), a sex addict who works as a Colonial War re-enactor
