After In the Heights, director Jon M. Chu is slated to helm a couple of musicals for his follow-ups. Firstly, he’s announced to adapt the popular broadway show, Wicked, into a feature film. Now, Deadline reports that Chu will be reuniting with his In the Heights producing partner, Scott Sanders, to develop and shoot the musical treatment of the Old Testament tale of Joseph, who is driven from his home by his 11 jealous brothers in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This will be a new version of the famous Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical to be made for Amazon Studios.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Really Useful Group has been seeking to adapt the musical into a film adaptation for a while, and the Crazy Rich Asians director has long dreamt of taking on the task of bringing this vision to the big screen in a classic Hollywood spectacular.

Mumbai, Sep 9 (Ians) As Indian organisations prepare to implement the new global payment security standard in the 5G era, a Verizon report said on Friday that the financial sector continues to be victimised by motivated organised crime, with servers being involved in 90 per cent of financial breaches.
Despite the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (Pci Dss) compliance improving significantly in 2020, the cybersecurity threats organisations face are more cunning and evasive than they were even two years ago, according to the 2022 Verizon Payment Security Report (2022 Psr).
The Pci Ssc, a global payment security forum, has published version 4.0 of the payment security standard.
To provide organisations time to understand the changes in version 4.0 and implement any updates needed, the current version of Pci Dss, v3.2.1, will remain active for two years until it is retired on March 31, 2024.

Netflix will on September 22 release its long-gestating drama about the real-life rescue of 12 boys and an adult who were trapped in a cave in northern Thailand. Thai Cave Rescue will show how the Wild Boars soccer team’s afternoon exploring with their 25-year-old coach went disastrously wrong when heavy rain trapped them inside, leading to a massive international recovery mission that engrossed the world.
Netflix partnered with filmmakers across Thailand and beyond to create the six-episode series, which is filmed entirely in the Asian nation, after jointly acquiring rights to the story with Sk Global Entertainment back in 2019. The drama unfolds through the perspectives of the boys at the center of the rescue.
Created by Michael Russell Gunn and Dana Ledoux Miller, the limited series is directed by Thailand’s Baz Poonpiriya and U.S. director Kevin Tancharoen. Both also serve as executive producers alongside Jon M. Chu and Lance Johnson for Electric Somewhere; John Penotti (Crazy Rich Asians) for Sk Global Entertainment; John Logan Pierson.
Cast includes Papangkorn “Beam” Lerkchaleampote as Coach Eak, Thaneth “Ek” Warakulnukroh as Chiang Rai governor Narongsak Osottanakorn, and Urassaya “Yaya” Sperbund and Manatsanun “Donut” Phanlerdwongsakul as Kelly and Pim — fictional representatives of the real-world hydraulic engineers and park rangers that made the incredible rescue possible. Supakorn “Tok” Kitsuwan is former Navy Seal diver Saman “Ja Sam” Gunan, and Bloom Varin plays army doctor Colonel Bhak Loharjun.
The boys are played by 12 young local actors, with filming taking place at the homes of the real boys and Tham Luang, where they were trapped, itself.
As with the real mission, Thai Cave Rescue international actors to portray key contributors in this rescue, including Nicholas Bell as Vern Unsworth, Nicholas Farnell as John Volanthen, Christopher Stollery as Rick Stanton, Rodger Corser as Dr. Richard “Harry” Harris, and Damon Herriman as Dr. Craig Challen.
“Thai Cave Rescue is the first opportunity for audiences worldwide to see the Tham Luang story in a new and more emotional light — centering the perspectives of the 12 Wild Boars, Coach Eak, and heroes like Saman ‘Ja Sam’ Gunan, whose lives beyond the operation remain largely outside the public spotlight,” said Poonpiriya.
Tancharoen added: “As a Thai American, I feel so incredibly fortunate to help tell this story through the lens and soul of the Thaipeople. I wanted to bring my experience of telling big superhero stories to the real world. One where real-life superheroes worked together for a common cause regardless of where they were from, and the only superpowers are the perseverance of the human spirit and what we can accomplish when we work together.”
Ron Howard and MGM’s Thai cave rescue film Thirteen Lives is set for its theatrical debut on Friday (July 29). Read Todd McCarthy’s review here. The story was also told in Nat Geo documentary The Rescue last year and in indie film The Cave back in 2019.

Netflix has set a Sept. 22 release date for “Thai Cave Rescue,” its six-part mini series about the dramatic events of July 2018 when 12 boys and their football coach were trapped in flooded limestone caves near Chiang Rai.
Their plight sparked an unprecedented international rescue effort that ended with the loss of just one life and a flurry of film and TV productions.
The Netflix series is at least the fourth on-screen retelling of the rescue tale and will follow two other efforts releasing over the next weeks. Netflix touts its series as “the most authentic and expansive retelling yet.”
First into the market, in 2019, was “The Cave,” by Thai-British director-producer Tom Waller, which mixed reconstructions and news footage. It gave prominent position to Europe-based rescue diver Jim Warny playing himself. And it broke ground by clearly depicting the controversial decision to fully sedate the boys during their extraction. Despite pushback from provincial officials,...

The project, which could be either a film or a miniseries, will follow the true story of how the 12 teammates and the coach of the Wild Boars soccer squad were rescued after being trapped for two weeks inside of the flooded Tham Luang caves near Chiang Mai, Thailand, during the summer of 2018.

Napa Valley Film Festival kicked off with (what else?) a wine movie. “Somm: Into the Bottle," the second documentary exploring the Exclusive Court of Master Sommeliers. To be distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films, "Somm: Into the Bottle", as told through the eyes of the world’s greatest sommeliers and winemakers, raises the curtain on the seldom-seen world that surrounds the wine we drink and gives viewers close-up access to the most accomplished sommeliers in the world and to some of the most prestigious winemakers working today. By opening some of the world’s most rare bottles of wine, the viewer understands how a wine ages and just what happens in a cellar.
At the festival’s gala opening night party, filled with vintners pouring their wines accompanied by some of the best restaurants in the world supplying bite size hors d’oevres, Peter Goldwyn pointed out that the film is already number 22 on iTunes because of the fan base built up by Jason Wise’s previous film, “Somm” in which four sommeliers attempt to pass the prestigious Master Sommelier exam, a test with one of the lowest pass rates in the world. As Peter circulated through the crowd of the local bourgeoisie and filmmakers like Eric Troung whose 30 minute short is also screening here, I felt right at home…I love seeing new friends and old at these events.
So far, as a jury member, I have seen one film, “Life in Color” directed, written and produced by Katherine Emmer, along with producers Jason Berman, Anne Carey, Lance Johnson and Giles Clark and starring, as a lovable slob who grows up, Josh McDermitt, Katharine Emmer herself who could play a spoiled rich girl as well as the miserably inattentive nanny she plays in this movie, Adam Lustick a really perfect button-down successful comedian buddy of Josh, Fortune Feimster and Jim O’Heir. Katharine's directorial feature film debut, “Life in Color”, world premiered at South by Southwest 2015. It won Best of Fest - The L.E.S. Prix D'Or at The Lower East Side Film Festival 2015 in New York City.
I am now about to see the second film, “Tumbledown," directed by Sean Mewshaw, produced by Aaron Gilbert, Kristin Hahn and Margo Hand, written by Desi Van Til and Sean Mewshaw and starring Jason Dudikis, Rebecca Hall, Blythe Danner (!), Dianna Agron, Griffin Dunne (“Dallas Buyers Club” and “After Hours”!) son of Dominick Dunne and older brother of Dominique Dunne, Joe Manganiello and Richard Masur. Starz will release the film stateside. Director-writer Sean Mewshaw was raised in Rome, Italy and spent a decade in L.A. working on film sets where he was mentored by some of his heroes. He made a short starring Frances McDomand (one of my favorite actors btw), then moved to Portland, Maine with his wife Desi (who cowrote “Tumbledown”), where he directs theater wile developing film projects. “Tumbledown is his feature debut.
End of Day One and Beginning of Day Two, signing off, Sydney Levine, working in her suite at the Embassy Suites with my partner Peter Belsito sitting on the other side of the table after he hosted a pitch session with Scott Mandille.

Breaking: The Weinstein Company is tying up a deal for world rights to The Ends Of The Earth, an Escape Artists-produced package that has Jennifer Lawrence in talks to star. Aside from The Hunger Games success, she recently completed Silver Linings Playbook for TWC. Pic is a fact-based love story about a powerful oil tycoon Ernest Marland, who has everything stripped from him after he is caught in an affair with Lydie, his adopted daughter. The screenplay was written by Argo’s Chris Terrio, and no director has yet been set. Harvey Weinstein, COO David Glasser and President of Production Dylan Sellers are in the middle of this, and Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Lance Johnson are producing.

Great Hope Springs update! And what an update! I love Tommy Lee Jones, and I can definitely imagine him as Meryl Streep‘s husband in the upcoming David Frankel’s drama that we already had a little chat about!
Now, please don’t give me that look! Jeff Bridges is no longer attached to this project, so Jones is a next-perfect guy!
Great Hope Springs is story written by Vanessa Taylor, lady who is best known from HBO’s Tell Me You Love Me, and it follows a couple who spend a weekend attending an intense counseling session in order to decide the fate of their 30-year marriage.
The rest of the cast includes Steve Carell, who will play Dr. Feld, a marriage therapist who tries to help our favorite above mentioned couple rekindle their loveless relationship after exactly 31 years of marriage.

What’s that smell guys? Oh, wait, is that a smell of Academy award in the air?
Ok, we know it’s too early to write something like that, but, when you have Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep in one report, then it’s kind of logical thing to say.
They are in talks to play the troubled couple in an upcoming Mike Nichols‘ project Great Hope Springs. Nothing is official yet, but we do have a right to hope!
So, Academy Award winner Mike Nichols is in talks to direct Mandate Pictures’ Great Hope Springs, while Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges are currently close to finalizing deals to star in it.
