A sequel to the popular movie starring Michael Keaton as the titular troublemaker has been in the works since the late 1980s, but the originally planned sequel, Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian, was never made, and the idea was scrapped. Yet, during the early 2010s, talks of a sequel began reemerging, which came as a sort of shock, but...

Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger might look like an odd couple – which is exactly why Twins worked as an outlandish concept – but they’ve been pals for decades. Although their onscreen collaborations are few, they do have another project in the pipeline. Unfortunately, it doesn’t involve taking down Michael Keaton’s Batman…
Speaking with Deadline, DeVito said of his pal and a future project, “Arnold and I love working together. We’re doing a movie together next year. We’ve been working on it…Since Twins and Junior, and all the stuff we’ve done together, we’ve become friends.”
What exactly this project between Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger is remains a mystery at this point but we do know it will be set up at Warners Bros. This would further indicate it’s undoubtedly not the do-we-really-want-this? sequel to Twins (a Universal movie), which Arnold himself has...

Winona and Jenna, together at last.
On Thursday, Warner Bros. released the full trailer for Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice 2” – officially known as “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” – giving fans their first look at Gen X’s goth teen icon Winona Ryder and Gen Z’s goth teen icon Jenna Ortega on screen together in the sequel to the 1988 horror comedy.
The new trailer brings back the trailercore version of “Day-o (The Banana Boat Song)” from first teaser, plus better looks at Ryder as now-adult goth Lydia Deetz, Ortega as her daughter Astrid, and, of course, Michael Keaton as Tex Avery-esque demon Betelgeuse.
The trailer introduces the plot of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” in which Lydia returns to Connecticut for her father’s funeral. She tells her daughter the story of how she once summoned a demon who wanted to marry her and created chaos in her and her family’s life for a while.

It's showtime!
Warner Bros. has unveiled the first full trailer for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and it gives us a much better idea of what to expect from Tim Burton's long-awaited sequel.
The footage begins with Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) returning to Winter River with her mother Delia (Catherine O'Hara) and daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) for her father's funeral (confirming reports that Jeffrey Jones' Charles Deetz has been killed off), when memories of her encounter with lecherous demon Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) resurface.
Lydia explains what happened all those years ago to Astrid, who proceeds to say the Ghost with the Most's name three times, summoning the Bio-Exorcist back to the land of the living.
The previous teaser suggested that Betelgeuse might be seeking revenge, but it looks like he'll be putting his differences with Lydia aside in an effort to rescue Astrid.
Who takes Lydia's daughter and why is not clear,...

It’s easy to be jaded in the year of our lord 2024 about legacy sequels. What once seemed like a novelty less than a decade ago—back when Harrison Ford said, “Chewie, we’re home”—has increasingly become a threat. Hollywood studios continue to be hellbent on dragging from the grave every 1980s and ‘90s pop culture relic. However, terms like “hellbent” and “the grave” have always befitted Tim Burton’s second, and in some circles still best, feature film: Beetlejuice.
Released in 1988 to a smattering of amused if confused critical notices, Beetlejuice’s dark comedy setup about a bland small town couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) discovering the afterlife is like if the Dmv was designed by, well, Tim Burton, was a cultural oddity. It was a movie that juxtaposed mid-20th century Americana with stop-motion effects and claymation, creating sights as gnarly as Michael Keaton’s face on a giant snake hissing,...

Are moviegoers really clamoring for more of the ghost with the most? Tim Burton and Warner Bros. certainly think so. After dropping a disappointingly tepid teaser trailer last March, the Goth King of Hollywood (who probably single-handedly kept the ubiquitous shopping mall mainstay Hot Topic in business) has just unleashed a full theatrical trailer that, hopefully, whets fans' appetite for another ghoulish, antic-filled adventure headlined by the always game Michael Keaton.
For those of us who came of age during Burton's bizarro Hollywood auteur era (which kicked off with 1985's timeless classic "Pee Wee's Big Adventure), we're hoping one of the most visually distinct filmmakers in the history of the medium has rediscovered his macabre mojo. "Beetlejuice" (which he once described as his anti-Spielberg film), "Edward Scissorhands," and his two Batman movies looked completely unlike any other studio productions. Batman: Caped Crusader will be the latest take on the Dark Knight of Gotham by DC Animation extraordinaire, Bruce Timm. Timm has been responsible for co-creating works like Batman: The Animated Series, The New Adventures of Batman, and Batman Beyond. But perhaps the most significant contribution the creator has made to the Batman mythos is the original character that he made for his adaptation of Batman, the ever whimsical villain-turned-ally for Batman, Harley Quinn.
Harley Quinn in Batman: The Animated Series
Harleen Quinzel was a simple psychologist at Arkham Asylum when she was assigned to and fell in love with The Joker, who turned her into his loyal and adoring girlfriend, despite all the abuses he hurled at her over the course of their relationship.

We've seen a brief teaser for Tim Burton's Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (oops), already, but Warner Bros. has now announced that the full trailer will be online tomorrow.
In the meantime, we have a new poster spotlighting Michael Keaton's returning Bio-Exorcist (well, most of him) alongside some new waiting room acquaintances.
This image is a callback to Betelgeuse's final scene from the first movie, which saw the mischievous Ghost with the Most banished to the Afterlife after falling foul of a sandworm.
There's been a lot of speculation that the sequel will begin with Betelgeuse still waiting to be seen all these years later, after attempting to jump the queue by stealing the witch doctor's ticket and getting his head shrunk for his trouble ("this could be a good look for me").
Check out the poster at the link below, and be sure to drop back on Thursday for the new trailer.

Although there were many Marvel allusions and homages in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it appears that one DC character escaped our notice. In the 2017 flick starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker, an Easter egg as elusive as a superhero’s secret identity was cleverly tucked away by none other than Michael Keaton.
While embracing his role as the high-flying Vulture, Keaton delivered a subtle nod to his iconic portrayal of the caped crusader from Tim Burton’s Batman (1989). This hidden gem was discovered by an avid comic book enthusiast, who noticed that during a moonlit skirmish, Vulture’s winged silhouette briefly resembles Batman’s icon.

When we talk about perfect casting choices -- even outside the realm of superhero movies -- J.K. Simmons as The Daily Bugle head honcho J. Jonah Jameson in "Spider-Man" has to be right up there with the best of the best. Simmons so perfectly encapsulated the role that he has, essentially, been kept on as just about every version of the character throughout the Marvel multiverse, as evidenced by "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." But before Simmons signed on for the role, he was seen as perfect for another, very different role in Spidey's rogues gallery.

Pacino was Coppola’s favorite, while the studio was against his casting due to his height. Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd were the clown jewels of silent comedy. Chaplin was off the screen in 1924; he was a year away from the release of one of his feature masterpieces “The Gold Rush.” Lloyd followed the blockbuster success of 1923’s “Safety Last!” in 1924 with the gems “Girl Shy” and “Hot Water.” And Keaton dazzled critics and audiences with the innovative “Sherlock Jr.” and the riotous “The Navigator.”
“Sherlock Jr.”, which opened in May 1924, was just Keaton’s third feature. Running a brisk 45 minutes, “Sherlock Jr” pushed the cinematic envelope. The stoic, deadpan comic plays a projectionist and janitor at a small-town movie theater who dreams, literally, of becoming a detective. He also discovers that he has a slick rival (Ward Crane) for his sweet girl (Kathryn McGuire). The slick even steals the pocket watch of the girl’s father and puts the blame on Buster. John Leguizamo is looking back on his would-be superhero debut in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and claims that he could have been entangled in a web of a lawsuit against studio Sony over his casting process.
Leguizamo had previously confirmed in 2023 that after Michael Keaton originally turned down the role of Vulture, Leguizamo was about to film in the role. However, Keaton later returned and was cast in the part.
Leguizamo told Business Insider that any other actor “would have sued” the studio for that. “We went through a huge negotiation period, and we had agreed on terms,” he said. “I hadn’t signed a contract, but we had agreed. I think those are suable terms.”
Leguizamo added that he would be open to making joining a different superhero franchise after that experience, perhaps even in the DC. “I would if I was offered The Riddler or some part like that,” he said.

Leguizamo told Business Insider that any other actor “would have sued” the studio for that. “We went through a huge negotiation period, and we had agreed on terms,” he said. “I hadn’t signed a contract, but we had agreed. I think those are suable terms.”

Steven Spielberg’s visionary approach to bringing the prehistoric era of roaring allosaurus and menacing tyrannosaurus alive met a disappointing end with Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World Dominion. The film’s billion-dollar potential led Colin Trevorrow to follow through with the threequel and almost tanked the entire franchise if not for Spielberg’s reputation that still remains attached to the IP.

As such, the fourth and definitive film of the Jurassic World franchise is intent on setting itself apart from its predecessor by reigning in the 2-time Academy Award-nominated powerhouse actor, Scarlett Johansson. John Leguizamo is by far one of the most recognizable Latino names in Hollywood, and the actor frequently comments and speaks up when he sees injustice being done, not only to him but to his co-stars and actors as well. Especially when it comes to the portrayal of Latinos in Hollywood and the issues of ethnic representation.
But, before he was known for that, Leguizamo was known for taking part in some of the biggest franchises in the industry. He gained widespread recognition for his roles in films such as ‘Carlito’s Way,’ ‘To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar,’ ‘Romeo + Juliet,’ the ‘Ice Age’ franchise, ‘The Kick-Ass’ franchise, and even the ‘John Wick’ franchise. But did you know that Leguizamo also almost played the Vulture in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’?

John Leguizamo stands out as one of Hollywood’s most prominent Latino figures, known not only for his acting prowess but also for his vocal advocacy against injustices faced by himself, his peers, and the broader Latino community in the industry. He’s been a staunch critic of the underrepresentation of Latinos in Hollywood and is unafraid to speak out on the issue.
Yet, before carving this reputation, Leguizamo was a fixture in some of cinema’s biggest franchises. From ‘Carlito’s Way’ to ‘To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! In the world of comic books and their movie adaptations, no names come close to the behemoth production houses of Marvel and DC. The studio houses of the respective comic giants have held onto their cinematic universes and solo movies for decades now. In this aspect, Spider-Man from the former and Batman from the latter stands out as not only two of the most widely recognized superheroes around the world but also the characters with the most flicks to their name.
In this saga, two actors, namely John Leguizamo and Jim Carrey, carry their own distinct and disappointing tales of playing villains for such adaptations. While Marvel literally snatched the role out of the former’s hands, the latter’s outing as one of the most famed villains of DC turned out to be one of the worst iterations in comic book history. Last year, John Leguizamo revealed that he was in talks with Marvel Studios to play the Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Though Michael Keaton ultimately signed on to play the character, the Batman actor was reportedly hesitant to commit at first, and Marvel had Leguizamo lined up in case negotiations fell through.
Apparently, Leguizamo was told that the role was his prior to Keaton agreeing to play the part.
“I was supposed to be the Vulture,” Leguizamo said at the time. “We had negotiated and I was about to play him, and they said that Michael Keaton wanted it back and they asked me if I would give it up. I said, ‘Well, okay I guess.’ They said, ‘No, we’ll work with you again, we’re gonna…’ That’s what happened there.”

Trying to sell someone on the indie comedy "Hundreds of Beavers" is an exercise in comedic persuasion. Do you talk about how it's a black-and-white movie without dialogue evoking the approach of Charlie Chaplin? Do you highlight the slapstick physical comedy that would make "The Three Stooges" proud? Or do you simply say, "This dude fights people in animal mascot suits in the snow" and let the universe work its magic? First debuting on the festival circuit in 2022 and now finally available on VOD, "Hundreds of Beavers" has quietly become the must-see oddball indie flick for cinephiles everywhere. It's a seemingly algorithm-proof movie that, as /Film's Matt Donato described in his review, exists at the crossroads of Looney Tunes, Benny Hill, "Cannibal: The Musical," "Blazing Saddles," and Adult Swim mindsets. It's also a delightfully Midwest movie, embracing a sense of humor that has been missing from major comedy films for far too long.

John Leguizamo is reflecting on the roles that got away.
In an interview with Business Insider, the actor was asked about movies he’s turned down that he now regrets. “Oh yeah, The Devil Wears Prada, the Stanley Tucci part [as Nigel],” Leguizamo revealed.
Other roles he regrets saying no to were parts in Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Happy Feet.
“I had my reasons,” said Leguizamo. “I mean, they’re stupid, but I had my reasons.”
When asked to elaborate further, he explained that he turned down the role of Brad Pitt’s character’s best friend, Eddie, in Mr. and Mrs. Smith because Pitt and Angelina Jolie were each getting $20 million while he would be paid on scale. “I felt dissed, and they probably weren’t dissing me, but I felt dissed,” he said.

Sure, while actors can play any kind of role, the training necessary to play these characters is also a crucial aspect of the process, often reaching previously unheard-of levels. That being said, when Michael Keaton played Riggan Thomson in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Birdman (2014), he took on a new challenge in his already lucrative acting career.
Given that Keaton had starred in a superhero flick, Batman Returns, that came out in 1992, Birdman was undoubtedly an interesting one. It was shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki to give the impression that it is a single, uninterrupted 119-minute shot. In order to pull it off, the filmmakers combined roughly ten different takes with ingenious special effects.

The filming process was, of course, exhausting and exhilarating, pushing Keaton to his limits both physically and mentally.

Alejandro González Iñárritu's Oscar-winning film "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" was a pretty ballsy move to make in 2014. The film stars Michael Keaton as actor Riggan Thompson, a once-massive Hollywood action star who has aged out of action roles. Notably, Riggan starred in three crowd-pleasing superhero movies about Birdman, a Batman-like vigilante. Keaton, of course, played Batman in 1989, 1991, and 2023.
Riggan is set to star in a high-profile Broadway production, hoping to prove to himself and the world that he is a pliable and capable actor, not merely a nostalgia-laced superhero figure. There is a lot of dialogue in "Birdman" about how superhero movies are the antithesis of art and that superhero actors are aggressively robbed of their thespian instincts. Good actors, Riggan complains, are ripped from meaningful projects and thrust into commercial FX bonanzas where they are expected to do little beyond pose and wear silly costumes.

Ya know that feeling when you watch something dumb, and even though you know it’s stupid, you can’t help but laugh and enjoy yourself? The 1980s are full of comedies like that. Yeah, we know they’re dumb and not especially clever, but whatever, man, every now and then, you’re in a bad mood, and you want to turn your brain off. That’s why they made seven Police Academy movies. No one thought they were good, but we watched them anyway because they were stupid in a pleasing way.
This brings me to this rare comedy-focused episode of The Best Movie You Never Saw, about a movie I loved as a kid that doesn’t super hold up forty years later, but it is still kinda fun – Johnny Dangerously. Ever since the dawn of cinema, stunts have been at the heart of the medium. The very first motion picture, Eadweard Muybridge’s 1878 reel The Horse In Motion, captured a jockey riding a horse at speed — cinema’s first stunt! And ever since then, fearless stunt people have been engaging themselves in the ultimate game of one-upmanship, putting their bodies on the line and minds at work to help make movies soar higher, go faster, hit harder, and be bigger than ever before. Even if the Oscars still aren’t ready to recognise that just yet with a Stunt category, we don’t need an awards ceremony to pay tribute to the crazy folk who do this stuff for real.
To celebrate the stunt community – and mark the release of stunt-tastic action extravaganza The Fall Guy – take a look back over the craziest movie stunts that were actually done for real.

Television shows seem well-organized and choreographed. Yet, not everything about them always goes according to plan.
For example, an incidental character sometimes steals a scene and creates memorable television history.
Then, there are the characters who take things a step further by stealing scenes repeatedly until they become the stars themselves.
Particular characters, such as Dr. Gregory House on House, are often created to be standouts. Yet, occasionally, those main protagonists are entirely overshadowed.
In rare instances, characters who were supposed to be incidental became regulars and took over entire shows.
The Fonz on Happy Days (1974-1984)
Happy Days underwent several changes, including the recasting and eventual disappearance of Chuck Cunningham's character, but Arthur (The Fonz) Fonzarelli's addition most dramatically altered the show's trajectory.
Initially, Happy Days focused on the Cunningham family, especially teenager Richie (Ron Howard). The Fonz (Henry Winkler) was a side character. However, the motorcycle-riding, leather jacket-wearing greaser soon took over.

Apart from obvious thriller choices from the decade of the 1990s, which include Basic Instinct, Seven, Fight Club and Usual Suspects, there are some hidden nostalgic gems, which can immerse you in the atmosphere of tempting mystery and suspense.
Here are 5 of the chilling 1990’s thrillers, handpicked by Redditors and available for watching on Prime Video.
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992)
Being the perfect example of the femme fatale trope, this story transforms the typical dangerous woman into a suburban obstetrician’s wife, who goes into all serious after she acknowledges her husband’s sexual misconduct. Among the new productions on Broadway this spring is a revival of the classic musical “Cabaret,” starring Eddie Redmayne. In 2014 he starred as Stephen Hawking in director James Marsh‘s biopic “The Theory of Everything.” His performance won him an Oscar for Best Actor (making him the eighth youngest winner in that category at age 33), overcoming stiff competition from Michael Keaton, the star of the Best Picture winner of that year, “Birdman.” How did Redmayne pull through? Here are five reasons.
1. The industry felt he came into his own
Prior to “The Theory of Everything,” Redmayne was a rising star. In 2010 he won a Tony for his Broadway debut starring opposite Alfred Molina in John Logan‘s play “Red.” He went on to get more prominent film roles where critics, audiences and the industry started to take notice of him. Among them were Simon Curtis‘s 2011 Oscar-nominated biopic “My Week with Marilyn...

Earlier this month, Roadside Attractions announced that they had acquired distribution rights to the comedy Summer Camp, written and directed by Castille Landon (Perfect Addiction). With a release date of May 31 quickly approaching, Roadside has already revealed the trailer and poster.
Summer Camp tells the story of Nora (Diane Keaton), Ginny (Kathy Bates), and Mary (Alfre Woodard), who have been best friends since being inseparable at summer camp. As the years have passed, they’ve seen each other less and less, so when the chance to reunite for a summer camp reunion arises, they all take it, some begrudgingly and others excitedly.
Each of their lives might not be where they’d imagined, but one thing is for sure — Nora, Ginny, and Mary need each other, and summer camp reminds them why.

In 1999, Tom Hanks starred in The Green Mile based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. The narrative followed the journey of a death row prison guard during the Great Depression who witnesses supernatural events after the entry of a convict played by Michael Clarke Duncan.

The film also benefited from a disturbingly brilliant performance from Sam Rockwell who played the role of William ‘Wild Bill’ Wharton, one of the most difficult and uncontrollable prisoners in the facility. From Adam West in the ’60s to Robert Pattinson in 2022, a plethora of iterations of Batman have been presented onscreen since the character’s inception. But while most of them are great in their own right, nobody quite embodied the spirit of the caped crusader like the late Kevin Conroy, who is still considered by many to be the definitive version of Batman.
However, Conroy wasn’t the initial choice to voice the character, and even when he was considered for the part, the actor was interested in voicing other characters, which ended up frustrating Andrea Romano.

Many A-list celebrities have fallen in love with one another after assuming the role of a couple on screen. Sadly, the majority of those love tales end badly as the couple separates for ideological reasons. One such pairing was Diane Keaton and Al Pacino, who fell in love with each other during the filming of the classic 1972 flick, The Godfather, helmed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Keaton was still relatively new to the industry when Paramount Pictures cast her as Kay Adams in one of the biggest movies ever made. It was there that she also got to know Pacino, her former partner. After being paired opposite in the film series, the on-screen couple soon started dating off-screen.

Frank Darabont's 1999 Oscar darling "The Green Mile," based on an inexplicably serialized novel by Stephen King, is set in 1935 Louisiana in the fictional Cold Mountain Penitentiary, specifically the prison's death row. The correctional officers are overseen by Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) who struggles to retain his soul working such a dire job. The floor that leads to the prison's electric chair is painted green, earning it the titular nickname. Paul attempts to wrangle his officers' cruelty and retain what little hope he can, even after witnessing the state execute prisoner after prisoner. To make matters worse, he's suffering from a bladder infection.
The wildest prisoner on death row is William "Wild Bill" Wharton, played by the always amazing Sam Rockwell. Wharton was clearly mentally ill, and would frequently assault the officers, forcing him into a padded cell. He spat insults and racial epithets, flashing his yellowed teeth and horribly casual hate.

Have you ever thought about what it feels like to be part of something legendary yet somehow stand apart from its central narrative? Diane Keaton felt like a fish out of water in the male-dominated world of Francis Ford Coppola’s classic 1972 epic crime film The Godfather.
The Oscar-winning actress, 78, was once unfiltered about a memory that’s as raw as it is real: feeling like an “outcast” while working in Coppola’s cinematic tour de force, The Godfather. Notwithstanding the enormous success of the movie and her own remarkable performance, Keaton’s role in the film alongside actors like Al Pacino strengthened her place in cinematic history.

However, she never felt more important on set than her co-stars in this film. The Francis Ford Coppola film was inspired by the same-titled Mario Puzo 1969 novel, which had already garnered a sizable fan base.

This week, one of the best comedies ever made and a silent film masterpiece celebrates its centennial. It's none other than Sherlock Jr., Buster Keaton's 45-minute miracle of stunt work and cinematic considerations about cinema as materialized dream and broken escapism. A meta-movie for the ages, I consider it the old Stone Face's crowning achievement. Sure, The General is much more complex and Steamboat Bill, Jr. trumps it in sheer iconography. As for technical innovation, something like The Play House is probably Keaton's peak. However, there's something special about the 1924 lark, a simplicity that bolsters perfection, an ingenuity that rekindles my love for cinema whenever I set my eyes on it…...

For an entire generation, Batman meant Michael Keaton. He brought the Dark Knight to life in not one, but two films that helped make Batman arguably the greatest superhero of all time. Decades later, he defied the law of aging by effortlessly slipping back into the cowl for “The Flash”.

Oh, and in between, he also jumped ships to the MCU as Vulture to make things difficult for our Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man. With all this exposure, one might expect Keaton to be a walking encyclopedia of comic book lore. In reality, however, he might just be the most delightfully clueless superhero actor out there.

Michael Keaton is not new to starring in comic book films. From Batman to Spider-Man: Homecoming, the actor has won over fans with his portrayal of iconic characters over the years. He is very versatile too, and hence can play both a hero and a villain very convincingly.
Keaton is one of the most sought-after stars too, and he has made several interesting cameos throughout his career. However, his appearance in Morbius left fans scratching their heads. Funnily enough, Keaton was as clueless about his role in the film as the fans.

Since it seems that the big action blockbusters are taking over the multiplex far in advance of their usual Summertime occupancy, what’s out there for lovers of silent-movie style slapstick and Golden Age cartoon short lunacy (as in those “Tunes”)? Well, a recent “midnight movie” indie hit on the “film festival circuit” is now available to rent or buy via streaming. Oh, but that title might raise a few “red flags” on your business search engine when getting some info on it. Not to worry, since most rating boards would probably give it a “PG-13” rating, at most, due to some scatological humor and some sexy gymnastics for a few seconds. Ah, but let’s delve a bit more into the movie with the ‘eyebrow-raising’ moniker, the fantasy fable/farce concerning Hundreds Of Beavers.
