As far as individual authors go, Stephen King is certainly in the top of the list of authors whose works have been adapted. He is right there with Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Conan Doyle, and other authors whose works have been adapted often and in many forms. But unlike the aforementioned authors, King’s adaptations are usually original, while the other authors have seen their works adapted and remade more than once. In light of that fact, we can confirm that King’s story, “The Monkey,” had been adapted into a film this spring and the movie was presented to buyers at Cannes this year!
Knowing how popular King’s adaptations are, it was a sure thing that someone would buy the movie, and as it happens, Neon managed to nab the distribution rights for the upcoming movie and they have confirmed that a 2025 release date is currently planned.

Neon has bought North American rights to “The Unknown” (“L’Inconnue”), the hotly anticipated next movie from “Anatomy of a Fall”’s Oscar-winning co-writer Arthur Harari.
As revealed by Variety earlier this week, the movie will star Léa Seydoux (“Dune 2”) and is being represented in international markets. Harari is rolling off of “Anatomy of a Fall” which he co-wrote with director Justine Triet, abd won an Oscar, two Golden Globes, a BAFTA and the Palme d’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The deal was negotiated by Neon’s president of acquisitions and production Jeff Deutchman with producer Nicolas Anthomé on behalf of the filmmakers, and marks Neon’s second collaboration with Harari following last year’s “Anatomy of a Fall” which Neon acquired out of Cannes in 2023 before it won the Palme d’Or for that year. This deal further cements Neon’s commitment to bringing top-of-the-line international cinema to U.

Considering how much build-up Longlegs has had – with the stream of teasers, posters and symbols – the horror film had a lot to live up to, at least how it was being marketed. Fortunately for the involved parties, Longlegs looks to be one of the horror flicks to see so far this year, with most praising it for being an unnerving work that features stellar performances and channels The Silence of the Lambs.

It’s a new story, but it’s the same DNA. That’s the clever tag line for the new series “Orphan Black: Echoes,” a spin-off and continuation of the hit series, “Orphan Black” that starred and launched the career of Tatiana Maslany, now known as Marvel’s “She-Hulk.” Set some thirty years later, the series now stars Krysten Ritter, known for “Breaking Bad,” and the Marvel/Netflix series, “Jessica Jones.” Ritter also serves as executive producer and sci-fi thriller will premiere on Sunday, June 23 at 10pm Et/Pt on AMC and BBC America; available to stream on AMC+.

Welcome back, Clone Club! It's been a little while since our last meeting, but it's once again our time to shine. Every "Orphan Black" fan remembers falling down that sci-fi rabbit hole back throughout the mid-2010s, gawking at the television screen as the series somehow found deeper and more labyrinthine plots to follow with every passing season. As complicated and slightly off the rails as the story could get, those of us who found ourselves on its wavelength ended up among the most passionate members of the fandom. You could commonly find us wandering the street corners and flagging down random passersby, eager to preach about the Good News of Tatiana Maslany and her frankly incredible performance(s) as various clones who couldn't possibly be more different from one another.
Now, perhaps a whole new generation of fans is about to spring up with the release of the spin-off/sequel series,...

In an amusingly meta instance of sci-fi imitating sci-fi, “Orphan Black” is getting a futuristic sequel series before anyone has time enough to miss the original. That’s either a big mistake or more of a good thing in a booming genre that could almost always do with more feminist entries.
Set in the year 2052, “Orphan Black: Echoes” stars executive producer Krysten Ritter as an amnesiac woman named Lucy who we meet unraveling the insidious impacts of a mysterious procedure she doesn’t remember having. Ever since the Disney and Marvel Studios’ merger, the new studio has seen some of the best as well as some of the worst days. There was a time when everything with the Marvel stamp on it was selling like hotcakes, and Disney was busy milking the cash cow with multiple releases every year.

However, the excess pressure on the MCU and its branches led to a decline in quality, and slowly but surely the viewers caught on it. After facing several box office disasters, Disney+MCU is taking a new approach, trying to bring back quality to the once beloved franchise.

Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t what it used to be anymore. From failing movies to cringe scenes (just look at Thor: Love and Thunder), the MCU is suffering through the effects of post-Endgame clarity.
Disney’s current CEO, Bob Iger, recently unveiled a new plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe which seems good (at first). However, it is the majority opinion of the people that this new plan isn’t going to work.
Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in The Marvels
Marvel Studios Isn’t What It Used To Be
Maybe it is a bold statement, or a rude one, but all things considered, there is quite a noticeable difference observed in the MCU before Avengers: Endgame and the MCU today. Releasing movies like selling cotton candies at a fair, the MCU simply had a lot on its plate (not even counting the TV shows).

Exclusive: CAA has signed Tony and Olivier-Award winning director Ivo van Hove in all areas.
Belgian-born van Hove has built a reputation for experimental revisions of Hollywood and Broadway classics including Broadway revival productions of Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge, for which he received a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award, and The Crucible as well as Lee Hall’s Network (starring Bryan Cranston and Tatiana Maslany), All About Eve (with Gillian Anderson in the Bette Davis role) and Stephen Sondheim’s West Side Story.
Last year, van Hove teamed with John Wells to develop Doll at Warner Bros. Television. The project is described as a psychological thriller series set in the ruthless world of a modern music conservatory. The former’s artistic collaborator, Jan Versweyveld, was set to serve as production and lighting designer on the project, which marks the duo’s first foray into scripted television.

Close races and sharp elbows are likely when the 2024 Tony Award nominations are announced Tuesday morning. With so many shows opening during the onslaught of the past two weeks, nominators might still be clearing their minds — and maybe taking a moment to eat and breathe — as they ponder and re-ponder the 36 productions that opened on Broadway between April 28, 2023, and April 25, 2024.
Some of the nominations are no-brainers: The much-praised and hugely popular Merrily We Roll Along is a sure bet for all concerned, but what about more polarizing fare? Cabaret, Here Lies Love, Water for Elephants, I’m looking at you.
A selection of categories will be read live on CBS Mornings at 8:30 am Et, and a full livestream of the announcements will follow at 9 a.m. Et on the official Tony Awards YouTube page.

It was actress Jameela Jamil who was responsible for bringing Megan Thee Stallion onto the screen for a brief cameo in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Stallion played herself in the series and even shared some dance moves with lead actress Tatiana Maslany. While the executive producers of the show believed Stallion’s scene to be one of the “most important” ones in the MCU, it may turn out to be the franchise’s biggest regret.

Being the threequel in the Deadpool film series and the sole MCU release for the year, there has been significant anticipation surrounding Deadpool & Wolverine. However, despite the anticipation, fans are expressing dissatisfaction with the upcoming Marvel film for overlooking a significant aspect of the MCU.

Tatiana Maslany, Star of MCU’s She-Hulk, Addresses Marvel Fan Sexism: “It Felt Like Part of the Fun”
If you’re part of the MCU fandom, no matter which “side” you’re on, chances are you noticed that most shows and live-action movies in one way or another focus on female superheroes. It’s part of the new progressive and inclusive strategy that aims to open up the exciting world of superheroes to more than just one demographic.
The success of that strategy remains uncertain for now, as plenty of backlash is generated overall. The most recent example of that is ‘The Marvels,’ the lowest-grossing MCU movie so far.
But before ‘The Marvels,’ there was the ‘She-Hulk’ live-action TV show that introduced Bruce Banner’s cousin to the MCU. Strangely, the show was largely praised by the critics but totally panned by fans, which led even its main star Tatiana Maslany to comment on how the chances of the show getting a sequel were slim.

When Tatiana Maslany was announced to be starring as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Marvel fans were excited about another talented actress playing a popular Marvel character. However, when the trailers and promotional material for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law were released, fans were concerned with the forced slapstick comedy and the show’s handling of the fourth-wall-breaking trait of the character.

After Olivia Coleman, the Marvel star Tatiana Maslany has joined the chorus against the self-taped audition process. The practice, alongside issues such as streaming residuals and artificial intelligence, became a focal point in the collective bargaining negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP in 2023. Originating during the 2019 global pandemic, it has since become a widespread practice in the industry.

Tatiana Maslany is reflecting on her decision to publicly call out Disney CEO Bob Iger during the actors strike in 2023.
The 38-year-old actress portrays Jen Walters aka She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having made her debut in the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
When Bob said that unions’ demands during the strike weren’t “realistic,” Tatiana responded by slamming the executive.
“He’s completely out of touch with the workers who make his shows happen, who make people watch these shows, who bring viewers to him and him money,” she told THR at the time. “Having worked on a Disney show, I know where people fall through the cracks and where people are taken advantage of, and it’s outrageous the amount of wealth that is not shared with the people who actually make the show. That’s crew, cast, writers.”

“He’s completely out of touch with the workers who make his shows happen, who make people watch these shows, who bring viewers to him and him money,” Maslany said at the time. “Having worked on a Disney show, I know where people fall through the cracks and where people are taken advantage of, and it’s outrageous the amount of...

“She-Hulk” star Tatiana Maslany went viral during the SAG-AFTRA strike last year when she called out Disney CEO Bob Iger for being “completely out of touch” due to his controversial comments about the Hollywood work stoppage. That “She-Hulk” was a Disney-backed Marvel series streaming on Disney+ only drew more heightened attention to her Iger call out.
“In those moments, you’re so heated up,” Maslany now told The Independent months later when asked about her decision to publicly criticize Iger. “It’s hard to articulate yourself in a way that you want when you’re on the picket line with everybody.”
Maslany was on the SAG-AFTRA picket line in New York City last July when The Hollywood Reporter asked her about Iger’s comments. She responded: “I think he’s completely out of touch. He’s completely out of touch with the workers who make his shows happen, who make people watch these shows,...

Visual effects studio Digital Domain is introducing a new version of its Masquerade facial motion capture system, which eliminates the need for actors to wear tracking markers on their faces during production. Cto Hanno Basse tells Variety that the company is sharing the development with customers and “we’re probably going to do several projects this year” using the tech.
A bit of history: Earlier versions of Masquerade were used by Digital Domain to enable Josh Brolin to play Thanos in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” and Tatiana Maslany to portray the titular “She Hulk.”
Basse believes that by eliminating the need to use tracking markers, Masquerade3 can save time and money while getting a more precise performance.
“It removes the need of getting the dots on people’s faces every day. So it saves time and money on set,” he says. “The other thing was, because the dots...
