Beloved Character Will Skip Deadpool and Wolverine to Avoid 'Messing with Logan's Timeline' - Main Image
Deadpool & Wolverine is expected to feature several surprising cameos, but there’s one character fans have been wanting to see: X-23. However, it seems like it won't happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to avoid messing with Logan’s timeline.
Fans know by now that Wolverine dies in the 2017 Logan, which was supposed to be Hugh Jackman’s final movie as the adamantium-clawed superhero.
However, the actor will make his triumphant return in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Given X-23’s importance in Logan and the possibility that the third Deadpool film may feature remnants of the 20 Century Studios movie, it’s the perfect time for Dafne Keen to reprise her role as Laura Kinney after seven years.
Sadly, she confirmed in an interview with On Demand Entertainment that it wasn’t happening.
“It's sad.

If there is one fandom that is allowed to have the most trust issues, it is probably Marvel fans. The franchise is known for being especially untrustworthy with the information it gives out. The secrecy surrounding every single project in the MCU is ingrained in the very fabric of the franchise. The perfect example of how far they are willing to go to keep key details under wraps is what Andrew Garfield did in the days leading up to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home l Marvel
The actor has famously been condemned for how much he lied during the release of the film. Fans would constantly bombard him with questions about his appearance in the film, and he would deny it over and over. When the film was released and fans found out that he was, in fact, in the movie,...

Marvel Studios has a rather odd calendar in store for 2024. After years of lining up a slew of movies and shows post the Avengers: Endgame storyline, it has dialed back significantly with Deadpool & Wolverine standing out as its sole release for the year. Regardless, the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer has raked in sufficient hype and nostalgia to sail forward as one of the most anticipated Marvel movies in recent times, setting up the stage for a mega box-office showdown.

We're expecting to see some big cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine when it arrives in theaters later this summer.
However, it would be wise to keep expectations in check; after all, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featured the likes of Professor X and Mister Fantastic but was somehow still deemed a disappointment by many fans (likely because rumours promised Spider-Man and an evil Iron Man played by Tom Cruise).
With that in mind, Deadpool & Wolverine might not be as star-studded as expected, especially with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon. Still, we're bound to see some characters from the X-Men franchise's past, right?
Appearing at the London premiere for Star Wars: The Acolyte earlier this week, Logan star Dafne Keen was asked whether she's "sad" not to be reprising her role as Laura in the upcoming Marvel Studios threequel.

One of the main attractions of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the large number of cameos and variants set to appear in the movie. So far, over 25 characters from Fox’s old ‘X-Men’ series and other properties are rumored or confirmed to be in the film.
One of these characters is Dafne Keen’s Laura. While her role hasn’t been officially confirmed, fans believe she’ll be in the movie because Wolverine’s past, or at least one version of it, hints strongly at her character.
But ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ isn’t the only big project Dafne Keen is involved in. She’s currently promoting her upcoming Star Wars show, ‘The Acolyte,’ where she plays Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon. During the promotion, she was also asked about her role in the upcoming MCU movie. Keen didn’t mind and actually enjoyed that her projects were crossing over. She feels honored...

One of the biggest selling points of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ seems to be the unprecedented amount of cameos and variants set to appear in the movie. So far, we have over 25 characters from former Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise and other properties either rumored to appear or confirmed to appear.
One of them is Dafne Keen’s Laura. Although the character was never explicitly confirmed to be in the movie, fans have assumed as much since Wolverine’s past, or at least the past of one of his variants seems to heavily nod toward the character.
But, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is not the only massive project that Keen is “set to return in” as the actress is currently doing promotion for her upcoming Star Wars show, ‘The Acolyte.’ Keen is set on playing Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon, but as those things often go, she was asked about her role in the upcoming MCU movie as well.

After Dafne Keen's acclaimed performance as Laura/X-23 in 2017's Logan, it was generally assumed that the young actress would get the opportunity to reprise the role down the line.
Of course, this was before Disney acquired 20th Century Fox's assets in 2019's highly-publicized takeover.
Keen has since confirmed that there were indeed tentative plans in place for an X-23 spinoff before the acquisition, but said she didn't hear anything about it after the deal went through. However, the announcement that Marvel Studios was moving forward with a third Deadpool movie (now titled Deadpool and Wolverine) gave the His Dark Materials and The Acolyte star hope that we could see the clawed mutant follow the Merc With a Mouth into MCU.

It took about 240 hours of training to turn “The Acolyte” actress like Danfe Keen into a certified Jedi master. That meant 240 hours of lightsaber practice, force training, stunt work and movement coaching from a dedicated team of instructors at Lucasfilm. But according to Keen, the most “surreal” part of her regiment was the “force meetings,” where every force user in “The Acolyte” would sit in a quiet room and discuss the mysterious space magic with an expert “Star Wars” advisor.
“You ask questions about the force to this all-knowing man called Pablo [Hidlago], who has been working at Lucasfilm for decades,” Keen explained Thursday at “The Acolyte” premiere in Los Angeles. “And anytime you had a doubt, you’d be like, ‘I need to talk to Pablo.'”

There were many reasons why The Walt Disney Company merged with 21st Century Fox, with the rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises a small, yet crucial part of the $71.3 billion deal.
Marvel Studios will release The Fantastic Four reboot next year and recently found a writer for its take on the X-Men. While the quality of Fox's Marvel movies fell off a cliff with the likes of Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants, the studio also produced more than a few critical and commercial hits.
Fox had plenty of bold ideas for the Marvel characters it held the rights to before Marvel Studios pulled the plug on them. In this feature, we're revisiting the most intriguing, exciting, and sometimes awful-sounding projects which, in another timeline, you may have watched in a theater by now.

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is set to premiere in a week with its first two episodes, sparking excitement among fans. The series unfolds in the High Republic Era, offering a portrayal of Jedi with institutional power, as Leslye Headland has extensively discussed.
The show boasts a diverse cast of characters, predominantly Jedi, who undergo rigorous training to hone their martial arts and lightsaber skills. In a recent interview with Empire, Dafne Keen, who portrays Jedi Padawan Jecki Lon, candidly shares her training challenges and the necessity for a custom lightsaber during filming.

Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman has, no doubt, been one of the most favorite characters from the DC Universe, and nearly everyone who has played her to date has been widely loved in the role. One of the actresses who played her was actress Lynda Carter, who turned out to be so greatly endearing to both fans and critics that she is closely identified with the character to date.
Wonder Woman in the comics.
Being widely regarded as the most accurate Diana Prince, she gave her opinions on who the next person could be to carry on the superheroine’s legacy. Surprisingly enough, she was reported to have called Sandra Bullock “too old” for the role. However, Carter later on not only debunked these reports but also claimed she had even vouched for the actress to play the DC superhero.

While the upcoming threequel is bound to feature some massive surprises, we've already seen what happens when fans set their expectations too high. After the tremendous revelation of all the superheroes and villains coming back and debuting through Deadpool & Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest reports are now suggesting that Channing Tatum’s Gambit will not only make his first live-action appearance through it but will also apparently fight a diabolical villain in the movie. But he won’t be alone through this.

As it seems, Jennifer Garner’s Elektra will be returning to the screens and joining the forces as well, and will reportedly be seen fighting side-by-side with Tatum’s mutant against this big bad. Then there are all the other superheroes reported to appear in the film, who are all expected to overpower this villain, who is none other than Cassandra Nova and her reported supervillain league.

The Disney+ era of "Star Wars" has by all accounts been a mixed bag, but upcoming murder mystery series "The Acolyte" seems like a promising addition to the universe's canon for a few key reasons. Among them is its dynamic and ambitious action, which has been hyped in pre-release press and is briefly on display in the show's first trailer. In it, warriors draw their lightsabers against an unseen force in the forest, two fighters face off in a wuxia-inspired showdown, and at one point a character even pulls a knife -- a rarity in this world of Force and saber-driven violence.
The "Acolyte" cast has admitted that one of the saga's most famous fights, the showdown between Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul in the imperfect yet vital prequel "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace," was both a reference point during production and a bar they...

With 36 productions eligible for this year’s Tony Awards, there were plenty of names missing when nominations were announced by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Renée Elise Goldsberry on Tuesday morning. Among the most surprising 2024 Tony nominations snubs was “Patriots.” Peter Morgan‘s history play about Russia earned three Olivier Award nominations last year, including Best New Play, Actor (Tom Hollander) and Featured Actor (Will Keen). In New York, it only scored one for Michael Stuhlbarg, who took over the role played by Hollander in the UK; Keen, who reprises his role as Vladimir Putin, did not score a nomination in a category stuffed with “Stereophonic” performers.
The revival of “The Who’s Tommy” also significantly underperformed. Gold Derby users predicted it would land three nominations for Best Musical Revival, Best Actor for Ali Louis Bourzgui and Best Choreographer for Lorin Latarro, but it only earned one bid in the top revival category.

X-Men is one of Marvel’s most popular superhero teams. The team arguably comes 2nd in popularity right after The Avengers as the latter has gained a lot of admiration and acclaim since their live-action adaptation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wolverine is arguably one of the most popular X-Men characters and the character is all set to make his MCU debut later this year in the highly anticipated movie, Deadpool & Wolverine. However, it is still highly unlikely that we will be seeing Logan on the big screen with his daughter, Rien.

Over the years, we have seen many powerful X-Men characters in various series and movies. However, there are still many X-Men characters that have still not been introduced to either animated franchises or live actions.

Welcome to Tony Talk, a weekly column in which Gold Derby contributing theater editors Sam Eckmann and David Buchanan discuss the Tony Awards race. With less than a week to go before nominations for the 77th Tonys are announced, we discuss the recently-opened and raved-about new play “Stereophonic” and consider how many of its performers might earn nominations in those challenging Featured Actor and Actress races.
David Buchanan: Hey Sam! We are officially less than a week away from the Tony nominations, and now that we have a tiny bit more clarity on the Best Musical race as shows like “Suffs” and “Hell’s Kitchen” have opened, I’m starting to really fret those pesky featured performer categories. Peter Morgan’s new play Patriots, now on Broadway, opens with an awareness of its audience. “In the West you have no idea,” Boris Berezovksy (an excellent Michael Stuhlbarg) says through a voiceover. “You think of Russia as a cold, bleak place, full of hardship and cruelty.” The stage is bare, and the oligarch, who played an instrumental role in Vladimir Putin’s rise to power, speaks to us from a liminal space. He goes on to describe the beauty of his country, Russian music, the sounds of children laughing in the streets and the taste of ice cream on a cold day.
When the stage comes into view (set design by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Jack Knowles), it’s 1955. Berezovsky is a schoolboy gifted in mathematics. A teacher urges his parents — congenial and full of quips — to push their son. “Anyone can be a doctor, Mrs. Berezovsky,” says...

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is generating significant anticipation as one of the most exciting upcoming projects in the MCU. Scheduled for release in 2024, it’s already drawing praise from those who have seen previews, with expectations high for its impact on the franchise’s reputation.
As with any highly anticipated project, rumors abound regarding potential cameos, variants, and plot elements, with some confirmations, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, and others still under speculation, supported by mounting evidence. To provide clarity, let’s explore the confirmed and rumored cameos and variants expected in the film.
Aaron Stanford – John Allerdyce/Pyro (Confirmed)

While he only briefly appears on screen, his unmistakable costume leaves no doubt about his identity. Earlier this year, he had denied any involvement in the movie.

If you saw the premiere of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in theaters back in 1999, you’ll know that the lightsaber duel which pitted Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jin against Darth Maul was unlike anything you’d ever seen. The lightsaber duel is considered to be one of the best in the franchise (I’d argue that John Williams’ Duel of the Fates is a big reason why that is), but the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte hopes to give it a run for its money.
Dafne Keen, who plays Jedi Jecki Lon, told Entertainment Weekly that the cast and crew of The Acolyte frequently spoke of wanting their lightsaber battles to “match or exceed” the iconic duel from The Phantom Menace.

The trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ recently debuted, hinting at plenty of action, a promise echoed by creator Leslye Headland in various media appearances.
Headland described ‘Acolyte’ as a blend of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Kill Bill’, drawing influence from Wuxia and Samurai genres. The trailer showcased this fusion, and Headland emphasized how ‘Acolyte’ will depict Jedi outnumbering Sith for the first time in the franchise’s history.
Although the ‘High Republic’ books serve as the main inspiration for the show, there are also many references to the prequel and sequel trilogies. In her latest interview, Dafne Keen, set to portray Jecki Lon, assured fans that the show’s action scenes will rival some of the franchise’s most memorable moments.

Recently, the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, and it promised a lot of action, something that the creator herself, Leslye Headland promised in her many appearances across the media.
She explained that she pitched ‘Acolyte’ as ‘Frozen’ meets ‘Kill Bill’ and was heavily influenced by Wuxia films and Samurai action. The trailer already showcased plenty of that, and Headland went to great lengths to explain how ‘Acolyte’ will for the first time ever present Jedi as being vastly superior in numbers to Sith.

With a string of mysterious murders at its center, "The Acolyte" is set to be the "Star Wars" equivalent of detective fiction -- although the show's first trailer also makes it clear that it won't forfeit any action for the sake of its mysteries. That first look features a martial arts-inspired face-off, a Force-fueled knife fight, and a forest showdown that begins with an ominous red lightsaber cutting through the trees.
According to series star Dafne Keen, who spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the new show earlier this month, "The Acolyte" isn't just trying to match the action sequences of past "Star Wars" shows; it's trying to beat them. It’s long been a part of the Star Wars mythos, but something rarely depicted in live-action: go back before Order 66 and the events of the prequels, and the galaxy was once flooded with Jedi. The sight of lightsaber-wielders moving en masse was a major moment at the end of Episode II – Attack Of The Clones – but given that Palpatine and a nascent Vader bumped all the other Jedi off shortly after, it’s rarely been seen again. The Acolyte, though, is set to deliver exactly that – the new Star Wars series, from an original idea by Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland, is set 100 years before The Phantom Menace, at the end of the largely-peaceful High Republic era. And it’s a time simply stacked with Jedi.

Directed by James Mangold and starring Dafne Keen alongside Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, Logan is widely regarded as one of the greatest superhero films ever made. The film’s excellence is attributed to both its talented cast and its director. However, credit for one of its most surprising moments undoubtedly belongs to the 19-year-old Spanish-British actress, who portrayed Logan’s daughter, Laura, also known as X-23 in the film.
