It was Pride and Drag Queen picket day in Los Angeles, where around 300 people hit up Warner Bros. Discovery to highlight their issues as the strike marches into its second month.
The hundreds of writers attending the picket were provided glitter and stickers for their signs on the first day of Pride month. The event attracted the likes of Severance creator Dan Erickson to Yellowjackets star Liv Hewson.
“When queer writers are under attack,” chanted the crowd, “What do we do? Stand up, fight back.” Others added, “If we don’t get it, shut it down.”
Signs featured sayings such as “Protect All Queer Art” and “I’m Gay For Pay” as Whitney Houston’s I’m Every Woman blasted from a speaker system.

Amazon Studios is expanding its fantasy realm.
The studio, which already produces The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time (the latter with Sony Pictures Television), is developing Jennifer L. Armentrout’s From Blood and Ash novels as a TV series. The Boys and Star Trek: Discovery writer and producer Anne Cofell Saunders will adapt the books.
From Blood and Ash centers on a young woman named Poppy, who is chosen at birth as The Maiden of her kingdom who will “Ascend” and bring in a new era of peace and prosperity. Duty-bound to fulfill her destiny, she’s also isolated from the world. Per the show’s description, “She can only dream of freedom, even as she secretly trains and fights with her guards to protect the realm from the evil that took her family. When an extraordinary, golden-eyed guard enters her life...

Book is back in these new promo photos for this week’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery. David Ajala debuted in the season 3 premiere as Cleveland “Book” Booker, a charming rogue who quickly made an impression on fans. After last being seen in episode 3, he’s back in this Thursday’s outing titled “Scavengers,” which sees Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Phillipa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) coming to his rescue.
The episode will also follow on from last week’s storyline which saw the Discovery crew making contact with the Starfleet of the 32nd century, as led by Admiral Vance (Oded Fehr). This plot will continue in “Scavengers,” as Captain Saru (Doug Jones) and the gang have to pick up the pieces when Burnham and Georgiou leave on their rogue mission. Meanwhile, Stamets forms an unexpected bond with newcomer Adira (Blu del Barrio).

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 19: “S#I& Happens”
Written by Anne Cofell Saunders & David Reed
Directed by John Showalter
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
In every war, there are casualties. The fight between the rebel forces and the Patriots has been no different in this regard, as was driven home in the last episode with the death of Jason Neville. Jason’s death is the biggest blow delivered by the Patriots this week, a blow compounded by the fact that the fatal shot was fired by Charlie. This week’s episode sees Charlie try to come to terms with having to shoot dead someone she knew, in a compelling outing that further cements the threat that the nanobots present.
Charlie’s shift in attitude following her encounter with Neville is a promising turn for the character this week. While she has...

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 14: “Fear and Loathing”
Written by Anne Cofell Saunders and Matt Pitts

Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
Can we all just take a moment to consider New Vegas as the absolute finest location in Revolution? The meta pop culture jokes are fantastic. The tiny little seeds of David Schwimmer reduced to performing as a cabaret act or Justin Timberlake squaring off against Joey Fatone in a deathmatch are exactly what the show needs more of to really establish its place in a greater context and carve out some glorious black humour at the same time.
New Vegas is also the heart of the action this week as Monroe, Connor, and Charlie take centre stage. Our weekly gripes about characters in captivity aside, Monroe was never dying here, given the Chekhov’s gun of Monroe trying to track him down, and nor...

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 10: “Three Amigos”
Written by David Rambo & Anne Cofell Saunders
Directed by Charles Beeson
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
With a finger firmly poised on the reset button, “Three Amigos” rolls into town almost like it had never been away.
It keeps up the frequently relentless pace of the season to date. The core gang are shifted into fresh groupings and sent on their merry ways through various circumstances. Giancarlo Esposito gets to be a menacing badass. It has all the elements of a successful episode, and thankfully it doesn’t disappoint.
Miles, Monroe, and Rachel are on their merry way to Mexico in search of Monroe’s son. There are a couple of solid twists here. Just when you see the fence at the border and think “great, another immigration parable,” the rug’s pulled out from under you when you realise it’s...

Earlier this season on NBC’s Revolution (Wednesdays, 8/7c), Rachel — shortly after recuperating from an arrow wound — got pulled into an unexpected kiss by onetime flame/brother-in-law Miles. And though the shteamy scene made it into promos, it got snipped before it saw the light of day.

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 4: “Patriot Games”
Written by Anne Cofell Saunders and Paul Grellong
Directed by Charles Beeson
Airs Wednesdays at 8 pm (Et) on NBC
The problems with “Patriot Games” start right at the teaser. Charlie is grabbing a drink alone in a bar. She’s just about to leave when a gang of burly men appear ready to commit unspeakable acts of horror on her opiate-weakened body, despite her best efforts in fighting them off. She luckily manages to escape, with the aid of Monroe. Charlie is one of just two women in the main cast, both strong characters most weeks, and yet both are subject to overt rape threats this week. Later, Rachel is also held captive, unable to stop the man intent on killing her from running his fingers across her cheek as he admits a long-held crush toward her. It’s a hugely unfortunate approach the...

Revolution, Season 1, Episode 17: “The Longest Day”
Written by Anne Cofell Saunders
Directed by Steve Boyum
Airs Mondays at 10 pm (Et) on NBC
“The Longest Day” is about seeing a different side to some of our main characters. Rachel, Miles, and Tom all have moments when we saw a part of them we hadn’t really seen before.
There doesn’t seem much point in going back to see how much of an ass Miles was when he was with the Militia. He was a bad dude back then, and we’re well aware of that. As far as Rachel goes, her steely determination in allowing a boy to die without trying to help him in her single-minded quest for revenge opens up a new side of her. She can be ruthless when she is determined, and where Aaron wouldn’t leave her, she would him. It’s an interesting development,...

Coming back from a four-month hiatus is not easy for any show, and is doubly difficult for a first-season show that has yet to develop a strong loyal following. The chances of people having lost interest in the ensuing months is high, as are the chances that viewers may have simply forgotten running storylines. Such is the dilemma Revolution faced upon its return this week; with the collision of the two primary storylines as Charlie and Miles caught up to Monroe’s camp and were reunited with Rachel and Danny, however, the show’s dynamic promised a change, and the closing moments, showing a helicopter lifting off for the first time in 15 years,...

*here be spoilers. Creator: Eric Kripke. Director: Felix Alcala. Writers: Eric Kripke and Anne Cofell Saunders. Producers: Jon Favereau and J. J. Abrams. Cast: Daniella Alonso, Tim Guinee, Maria Howell, David Lyons, Graham Rogers, Tracy Spiridakos, Zak Orth, Billy Burke, and Giancarlo Esposito. It is surprising to come off the action packed Epis. 3 of "Revolution" and to transition into such a sombre tone in Epis. 4, "The Plague Dogs." However, viewers should note that both directors, writers and producers are changing with each episode. This change might give a clue as to why this series' tone is so different across episodes. "The Plague Dogs'" melancholy tone was brought about by the death of character Maggie (Anna Lise Phillips) and through a series of flashbacks involving Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell). There was this recurring theme of loss or abandonment in this showing, which seemed to be the antithesis of the previous episode.

Lawless anarchy in the world that Revolution has established is to be expected, and the show hasn’t hesitated on that front, as every episode has seen at least one death. Most of the violence, however, has been perpetrated either by the militia or by the resistance fighters, and while that is understandable, with all semblance of a society gone, the idea that there’d be fringe groups or individuals operating under their own rules isn’t difficult to believe. Nor is it difficult to imagine that the sudden loss of power and the associated anarchy would drive some people mad. While the last episode provided some glimpses of the anarchy as an indication of how Monroe’s militia began, this episode takes a look at the...

Just a few updates today, but they're fun.
Grimm premiered to surprisingly strong ratings last night (6.5 million viewers, 2.1 million in the 18-49 demo), or as NBC puts it in the press release, the "largest non-sports 18-49 audience on the night by any network since last year's "New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC (2.8 rating)."
What makes this news particularly great is that the show aired opposite the most watched baseball game in the last seven years, and after one of the lowest rated episodes of Chuck ever (the show hit a series low in the key demo, according to TV by the Numbers).
NBC is re-airing the Grimm pilot tonight at 9 pm and the episode will also be shown on Syfy this Tuesday at 7 pm.
Here is the synopsis for next Friday's episode, "Bears Will Be Bears:"
A barbaric family history is revealed when Nick and Hank investigate a case of breaking and entering.
